  1. Gameday Live, Gamenight Live, Inside the Bears and all Bears preseason games are produced and distributed by the Bears (via the Chicago Bears Network). Both WBBM and WMAQ are former TV partners of the Bears. WFLD outbid them both in 2008 and thus became 'the official home of the Chicago Bears.' In years past, they used a different part of the set/studio as the backdrop. This is the first time, I believe, they have ever used the main desk.

  2. Weigel making a play in the possibility that Sinclair is not allowed to have a triopoly with KTVI, KPLR and/or KDNL?

  3. I'm searching for the package used by WNBC News 4New York from 1980-1987. I have collected themes for decades and grew up listening to this one. I've done everything I can to locate it. Even the composer himself claims it is lost to a poor filing system. I've managed to score a few clean cuts over the years but really want the entire package. Can anyone help?? Here's a link to the open.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuWbXt_Q6B8

  4. WPVI has quietly debuted Action News at 5pm on Sundays, anchored by Walter and Sarah, and it is not a special edition as it is listed in the coming Sundays too.

  5. Yeah that was interesting to see them down there apparently there are a lot of reporters from different ABC O&O stations lending KTRK a hand. That was nice to see.

  6. Jerry's done more 10pm newscasts in the last month than he did in the 12 months before (since the shift swap). He's filling in tonight as I'd expect Cheryl to helm the Red Cross drive tomorrow.

  7. I'm in love with this CFTO theme used between 1989 and 1998 (music starts at 29:09)

  8. WKYC seems to never want a 5pm newscast, but talk shows have always been in place at that hour. In the 90s, Montel Williams, Jerry Springer have always been their bench mark.

  9. The only way Sinclair could get it anyway, even if WBOC was for sale, is if the Tribune acquisition falls through. It's been mentioned several times by myself and others on this site that Sinclair will be over the cap by 6% if the acquisition goes forward. They can't buy anymore.

  10. It probably debuted on Saturdays too but will wait until the college football season is over for it to debut on Saturdays as well.

  11. NBC has been using Dave Price (during the week he was on MSNBC as well, often shuttling between the two studios). MSNBC has had Rafael Miranda. Basically, with the magnitude of this storm, and covering from different parts of Florida and NY, it has been all hands on deck. Remember, at the end of the day, WABC staff are ABC/Disney employees, WNBC are NBC employees etc.

  12. Sure did. I like Matt in the field or on WNT, he doesn't have the right chemistry with others to make him valuable on morning tv.

  13. A WHO-TV promo from 1985. I wonder where you can find the open on the NMSA where they're using the KSL 1981 Theme?

  15. Some have wondered why no David, and that whole thing about Tom and grocery store looters. Criticism from people looking for something to criticize. As for Tom succeeding David, I don't know why, barring the unexpected. David is at the helm of a program that's about to win the season for the first time in 2 decades.

  16. Tom's done a good job this week. I think he might be next in line for WNT in a few years. Will be interesting to see how he does this week next to Lester who is also in and around floodwater. What a week for David to be off! I guess he couldn't get back early?

  17. I don't know if this was the right place to bring this up or not but... WUFT out of Gainesville from the University of Florida (DISCLAIMER: I currently attend the university as a Telecom student wanting to possibly get into Journalism or become a broadcaster of some sort) has launched a new podcast called Broadcast Bits, which takes a look at the changing landscape in the local television news industry. The first episode talks about the Independent News Network from Arkansas which produces local news for various markets across the country. The second episode talks about the "all about Me TV" pinnacle that's happening within the local TV industry and yes, Scott Jones from FTVLive is interviewed on this episode. The short weekly podcast is hosted by Harrison Hove, former anchor at WCMH-TV 4 (NBC) in Columbus, Ohio, who is now U.F. College of Journalism and Communications' News Manager for the Innovation NewsCenter (the nickname for the WUFT-TV-FM Newsroom). 18. Smart Move I would have suggested him or Larry thank god their not stupid anymore but the ratings will stay steady with Larry now mabye they cant beat GN now that there being taken over by Sinclair long story shore when sh* t hits the fan at GN WFLD will have all their cards in order and I think they will beat WBBM if they start a 10pm FLD got the best set in the market a good group of reporters i think there good. IDC That WBBM got a new boring set Idk what there waiting on btw but if its not the KCBS one it just looks generic and there news product keeps slipping every time I watch them. WFLD NOW IS YOUR TIME TO GET OUT OF THE BASEMENT. Jeff was good btw I hate to see him go, but they now have a veteran on the desk to get the job done

  19. WKYC conceded the 5pm news race back in 1992, when Multimedia-produced Donahue took the spot of "The First Report" (which begat Montel, and then Dr. Phil). Dr. Phil is undoubtedly credited with WKYC's resurgence in 2003, thanks to the show being a wildly successful counterprogramming move against news on 5, 8 and 19. Plus there was a nationwide stipulation by the syndicator that the show couldn't be run against Oprah.

  20. Corey McPherrin has been named to the 5 and 9pm newscasts. Fantastic move. According to the latest ratings, FOX32 only brings in two-thirds of the audience of WGN at 9, but is just a half a point behind in the demo. http://www.robertfeder.com/2017/08/30/fox-32-promotes-corey-mcpherrin-top-news-anchor/

  21. Really would have rather seen Steve Rudin or Veronica Johnson get the big promotion to take over for Doug Hill.

  22. Changes from one Sinclair station to another. Bill Kelly the Chief Meteorologist at WSYX/ABC 6 On Your Side in Columbus, OH moves to become Chief Meteorologist at WJLA/ABC 7 in D.C. Many folks have left WSYX, and the beat continues..... http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/8/30/moving-to-dc
