  1. I hope they don’t dignify it with a response. Ultimately, this is another example of our society’s obsession with learning intimate details about strangers. Plus, if the viewers want romance drama, they can keep the TV on until General Hospital

  2. Very unlikely this would be addressed on air. If anything, through a statement or messages on their social media accounts. Importantly, this was (is) a relationship between two consenting adults who are not professionally subordinate to one another or in a position to influence the other's employment. Whether or not their relationship constituted an extramarital affair is unclear, but even if it did, it's not a situation for which a morality clause is typically invoked and is unlikely to affect either's employment with the company.

  3. Disney/ABC will probably not even give a fat Mickey rat's behind about this and it will definitely blow over in a few days. Management will probably meet with Holmes & Robach and tell them to keep it professional in office and on air & that's it. (I actually think GMA3 should be renamed "GMA3: Holmes & Robach" now that I type that out... it has a nice ring to it. lol) The Mouse won't make a public statement because they won't want to draw more attention to it. People will forget about it within a week; the everyday news cycle will bury it.

  4. Honestly, as a straight guy with many female friends, some going back 25 years, the ONLY thing here that really screams more than friendship is multiple butt slaps. And yes, having existing marriages might not make for a good look, but sheesh, this isn't even in the same zip code as a Lauer type situation.

  5. I would argue that there is no reason to delay their return to working together. Yes, the optics aren’t ideal, but trying to ‘wait things out’ until the dust settles only provides people with the opportunity to continue to dig up more dirt, etc… It is what it is. As long as their relationship doesn’t effect their work and/or create an environment were others are effect by their actions, then there shouldn’t be a problem.

  6. Don't dip your pen in the company ink, kids. A company like Disney probably has a relationships policy among co-workers, but most likely just for a superior-subordinate relationship. Personally, I don't care. I don't think it will affect anything on air until they begin hating each other (and it will happen). It'll be expensive divorces for both of them, though! The lawyer for one of the estranged spouses probably hired the P.I..

  7. Why is this even a thing? And why is anyone even questioning their “future” on GMA or how ABC will handle it? Two married adults fell for each other, separated from their respective spouses and have begun a new relationship together. It is sad that two marriages are ending but that is a normal part of life. Maybe they’ll address it on air or issue a statement when they’re ready… but who cares?

  8. What are all your thoughts on Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough? This is pretty much the same situation, just without the pictures in the Daily Mail (which I have no problem with personally since they have been separated from their partners). Mika and Joe are still doing fine all these years on MSNBC.

  9. I assume it’s to keep its programming requirements with cable providers re: the amount of news on the channel. There have been rumors/outright indications (the West Wing marathon over Thanksgiving) about HLN becoming an entertainment channel; maybe this is the way to pivot to that without spending too much money or unnerving its providers.

  10. If NewsNation blows this chance to get her on Morning in America they're completely lost. This is one case where you go for it, current talent be damned. And why Discovery is still not considering winding down networks continues to be beyond me; I know the RTC is why, but there is no reason for Destination America and Discovery Family to be on the air. Now with HLN there are 5-6 channels that should be gone.

  11. ABC rightfully said screw tabloids and have Amy, TJ and Dr Jen Ashton on GMA3 as usual. Good for them but cannot say I expected that.

  12. That’s a shame. It was a nice alternative to the other offerings cable news had in the mornings. Hopefully Robin sees this as an opportunity to go back into local TV. She’d be much better there.

  15. A recent statement, made on YouTube by Studio31 Media Archive, misrepresents a situation that developed on Sunday November 20th due to a breakdown in communication from myself to the TVNewsTalk staff. During the evening of Thursday November 17th, I was informed by several concerned community members that the operator of the Studio31 Media Archive account, TVNewsTalk user "sanewsguy", had posted (or "doxxed") the professional LinkedIn of another member of The News Center Discord. This took place on a third-party Discord server, unaffiliated with this site or The News Center. At that time, I brought it to the attention of both TVNewsTalk staff and the staff of The News Center. Given that this had taken place outside of either platform, no action was taken and the staff of both platforms elected to continue to monitor the situation. Three days later, on Sunday November 20th, discussion of this matter was renewed by members of our Forum Staff, without my presence. One member of Staff elected to issue a ban to sanewsguy's TVNewsTalk account for Privacy Violations. This was done without my authorization, as I had failed to explicitly communicate that I did not wish for him to be banned. My reasoning to not issue a ban was to monitor the situation and see if additional people were "doxxed". None were. It was later communicated to me that sanewsguy had apologized for posting the link, however the link was not deleted until after the ban was issued. Upon the issuing of the ban on the Forum, our integration plugin kicked sanewsguy's Discord account from The News Center. This function of the plugin was set up by design, to make sure anyone causing trouble on the forums was also removed from Discord. This is not made clear on the UI used by Forum Staff. The News Center Discord admin, @ChesapeakeTV, had also elected not to ban sanewsguy at that time, and rightfully objected to the integration kicking him. When I became aware of this, I immediately reversed the ban and attempted to reach out to sanewsguy over Discord to apologize and to inform him that the falsely-issued ban was removed. My message was responded to by "Clyde", Discord's system message bot, informing me that I was not able to message that Discord account. I had another user in the third-party Discord server relay the message on my behalf. I also sent it as a Direct Message on TVNewsTalk. The claims made in Studio31 Media Archives' YouTube statement, namely that he was "not given an opportunity to say goodbye", are completely and utterly false. There are currently no restrictions to his TVNewsTalk account, nor to his Discord account on The News Center. These claims are misleading to the community, and mischaracterize his own decision not to return to TVNewsTalk/The News Center into one where he was not given a choice, which is thoroughly incorrect. I accept 100% of the blame for the fact the ban was issued. I had failed to explicitly communicate my intentions not to ban him to our Staff. I cannot, however, stand idly by as my reputation, the reputation of this site, and the reputation of other community leaders gets dragged through the mud, by a manufactured narrative that attempts to further drive a wedge into our community, and conveniently omits the reprehensible action that led to this situation. -Weeters

  16. KPIX dropped the CBS 5 logo on the anchor desk in their main studio in place of its call letters instead. It doesn’t look good I’m surprised they didn’t go with the CBS NEWS Bay Area logo instead. The newsroom desk has the updated logo.

  17. Entertainment Tonight is reporting the same thing Was thinking the same. Honestly, both of them came out pretty well and the show is going on with an extra hour added at that. The ET report made the comparison as well. Agreed. You often see coworkers more hours a day than family, so it's natural that as human beings feelings develop. Extra marital affairs are wrong, but it's not the public's business. Audiences should be focused on TJ and Amy's work as journalists, not seeking personal narratives. (TO BE FAIR one could argue that journalists hunt personal narratives in other peoples lives, but want to privacy when it comes to their own). Morality clauses can be an overarch. Cheating on your spouse shouldn't affect your job unless you're in a position like a religious institution or something of that nature. Where does the line begin and end for how much work can dictate your personal life? It can be tricky.

  18. I wonder why Robin never went to the big ship is she didn’t want to live from Atlanta and go to NYC. I have a feeling she might just focus on her music career for while. I’m Surprised it took this long for HLN to leave the CNN Group and go to another segment. it shouldn’t have been under the news networks if all they have had is a morning show. I bet the CNN this morning will run for 6 months and then go away and just air crime and a name change to follow

  19. Sorry to hear that HLN is essentially gone. I had hope when they brought back the "Headline News" in the bug but it stopped being a destination for news. I see they're doing this weird thing with Tuesdays again. CNN This Morning debuted on a Tuesday. Now Tuesday, December 6th is when HLN will stop producing live programming. I'm probably way off but I wonder if it is a way to give Robin and the team a proper sendoff, as Robin was not in this morning (and presumably out for the week). Simulcasting CNN This Morning is an odd choice, unless there was going to be some Headline News-style ticker providing some sort of variation. Also sorry for all of the people who were laid off, most of whom are names we would not recognize. I have a feeling that contributors such as Susan Glasser and Jonathan Martin may still pop up, but not as often and will no longer be exclusive to CNN.

  20. Their construction permit is perfectly adequate for covering Sioux Falls and maybe 50 miles out unless it's some weird directional pattern they have to use. What they don't have is a 2000 ft tall super tower, so they can't get way-way out like the other stations. But how important is that anyway? You can probably get a lot accomplished using translators. And who knows? Maybe Forum will put up the money for a new tower or lease space on one. Or maybe buy one of the existing towers.

  26. Makes sense to me that something might be up. A lot of people laughed when Weigel started dipping their feet into owning network affiliates. If you can build a decent station on an LPTV signal in South Bend, it's doable here with a full power station.

  28. Always thought Holmes and Robach were the future for main GMA, but this event makes things very interesting indeed. They always had good chemistry on-air, but it seems like things sparked off-air. I wonder how ABC will position this? Will viewers care? I think if they come out in the open and be truthful about what happened, I think most viewers who are already invested in GMA3 will be okay with it, I think some morning viewers will actually welcome it (might even help with ratings). They weren't in an affair like the tabloids are saying, it's 2022 and they've been separated from their partners since August.

  30. I know it gets its share of critics #onhere, but I don't hate the current WABC look. It's simple (without being too simple), clean, and well-executed. Not everything has to be elaborate and splashy. (Of course, there was the NEWS YORK'S #1 NEWS incident, but...)

  33. Attached is a current picture of the existing set from Meterologist Deitra McKenzie's facebook profile: Basically, it looks like the original set that Benedek put in (like WTVY also used to have before they switched to the standard-issue Gil Jimenez Gray set) with some refacing. I remember when they went HD about a decade ago, they had the big studio-like cameras (which were actually hand-me-downs from WNDU...probably from their ND ownership days). As you can see, they are now the tiny PTZ ones that are commonplace with automation systems. At least they're not hanging from the ceiling! Given the cost of such upgrades, it makes sense for a station in a place like Meridian to space these out. Viewers aren't going to notice the automation (if it works like it's supposed to!) so that can be hidden in another year. And with Gray's graphic package rollouts, we all know how that is.

  34. How is this nut job conspiracy theorist still employed by sinclair and airing on WJLA? Does she not embarrass the folks at WJLA etc that are forced to air her? She seems looney’er than usual lately. And ever crazier than sinclair has allowed recently.

  37. First tidbits of the CNN layoffs are out and it’s a major destruction of the already destroyed HLN. Morning Express is being cancelled and replaced by a simulcast of CNN This Morning, and its remaining true crime original programming is being moved under the oversight of Investigation Discovery
