  1. Her first day was during Hurricane Irma (2017), and she got to work with Tom Sorrells. Her final day at WKMG Orlando is tonight after eight years and its rare for a longtime met to stay on weekends for so long. Yet, for Samara Cokinos, she did it all. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1157066372901538&id=100057945584968
  2. WWMT was off the air briefly on Saturday. Usually, when this happens, it could be due to severe weather damage, maintenance or other things. This time, it was a squirrel. 🐿 No, this is not an Onion story. https://wwmt.com/news/local/squirrel-causes-temporary-power-outage-at-wwmt-interrupting-broadcasts-news-channel-3-consumers-energy
  3. 24 years at KTNV Las Vegas should give you enough recognition to get into a statewide Hall of Fame for broadcasting. Thankfully, that's just happened to Tricia Kean, now part of the Nevada Broadcasters Association's Hall of Fame. https://www.ktnv.com/news/channel-13s-tricia-kean-inducted-into-nevada-broadcasters-association-hall-of-fame?fbclid=PAT01DUAMqcEVleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABp7fNWDq8OqetQvIx3Af0f74adbYt47m4jYiThi33GVviE_SeukR97we1iEhv_aem_alQrU5qZjFhaucS6HzeXhw
  4. Only six months for Brianda Villegas at WFAA Dallas. She's out, but not because of getting in trouble with the station for social media posts or anything like that, but rather for a much more serious situation, that involves her health. She's coming back to my home state of Florida but she's been really feeling out and about lately and is opening up to her struggles of mental health and hopes anyone who watches this and is going through the same situation to call and find help. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1279809290823586&id=100063835821075
  5. As a result of federal funding cuts, 89.3 WLRH Huntsville will soon go without NPR programming. That'll happen on October 1st though the station will remain on the air as a non-comm public radio independent station. https://www.wlrh.org/2025-09-05/programming-changes-at-wlrh-local-radio-station-returns-to-community-driven-focus EDIT: I wanted to add this as well. The iconic 102.5 WDVE sign outside of their former studios at Fleet Street in Green Tree, which has become a local iconic landmark while traveling through Pittsburgh on I-376, is being taken down, four years after leaving the building for newer studios at Abele Road in Bridgeville. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/pittsburgh/news/pittsburgh-wdve-sign-coming-down/
  6. Yes. Its coming up. The current mayor has an overwhelming lead in the polls (don't mean to get off topic there). It started when they started doing Boston 25 News NOW at 11 am, Noon, and 4 pm, which I believe is coming up to a year now that they've done so.
  7. Just found out that NBC Sports was producing this game for YouTube, and what a game for Justin Herbert. A great win for the Chargers. Overall, YouTube, I think, had more than enough capacity and bandwidth to handle this, and they handled this live sporting stream event so beautifully and not one moment had any technical problems whatsoever. Also, Rich Eisen. He's getting a lot of shine, and rightfully so. His stock must be very high right now.
  8. Canada (this will further prove that a Canadian Out and About thread may be needed. Lol) Back in June, CTV gave out their upfront presentation for the upcoming year. Nothing is notable, honestly... except for this section: In other words, the name CTV Morning LIVE is ending after 14 years in favor of local editions of CTV Your Morning. The national edition will remain, meaning there could be some confusion with this. https://www.bellmedia.ca/the-lede/press/ctv-marks-24-years-as-canadas-most-watched-conventional-network-as-compelling-and-lighthearted-new-series-join-2025-26-schedule/
  9. YouTube is handling it beautifully. No problems whatsoever in 1080p/60fps as I'm watching the game as we speak. Yes, its free.
  10. More news on WFXT. Starting Monday, they're adding another hour at 1 p.m. and yet another one at 3 p.m. In other words, WFXT will be on with news and weather from 5 a.m.-2 p.m., 3-7 p.m., and 10-11:35 p.m. on weekdays (also, the rebroadcasts that go from 12:35-5 a.m.) If you now combine everything that the Boston market has to offer (including WMUR), you're talking about local news at any time on weekdays from 4:30 a.m.-11:35 p.m. starting Monday.
  11. Wow. That's such a huge compliment. Thank you! Its something I live by every day, and its proof that I live by that. Thanks, everybody.
  12. Three channels from HBO and three from Cinemax are being renamed. TL;DR: HBO2 -> HBO Hits HBO Signature -> HBO Drama HBO Zone -> HBO Movies MoreMAX -> Cinemax Hits ActionMAX -> Cinemax Action 5starMAX -> Cinemax Classics https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/hbo-renames-linear-channels-1236361141/
  13. Happy anniversary, KCRA. 70 years as of yesterday. This was posted on their Facebook and I love it when stations do this.
  14. Haha. Fair point. I know that in Pittsburgh they are but its a strong second with KDKA still #1, at least from what I've last seen. I don't think the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette posts ratings numbers anymore. I think WJZ still is but WBAL-TV is right there with them at times. Back in 2021, WBAL-TV would win a lot, according to news articles that they would post so I'd say its more tight in Baltimore between WBAL and WJZ than I would say the far of the pack with WMAR and WBFF. All I'll say is that Hearst rarely has any weak stations in their roster.
  15. I actually think they're #1 in most cities now. From the three you mention, WLWT has done better over the years thanks to WCPO and WKRC's misfortunes, WAPT has become solid even if its not #1, and I think KHBS is the market leader there, if not close to it. WBBH is the market leader, which probably made it attractive for Hearst to get. Here in Florida, WESH is a VERY STRONG second in Orlando, and WPBF is now the market leader in WPB. I know y'all want them to sell to the McBrides, but then... that's how competition fades. I'll give Hearst a chance. They're one of the better national media companies out there IMHO.
  16. TBH that's two because Mission is a Nexstar "sidecar" so its two... Nexstar and Gray (soon, it'll be Scripps for KKCO and KJCT). Fort Myers will soon be FMBC/Sun (one company with WINK, WXCW, WFTX, WANA, and WUVF/WLZE) and Hearst (WBBH/WZVN) with NBC having one (WWDT).
  17. So Lindsey Sablan left WINK a couple of months ago and now we know where she's next... She is now at Orlando's WESH to anchor Sunday mornings, including their new 9 a.m. hour on Sundays which is also simulcast on WKCF. https://www.wesh.com/article/wesh-2-news-expands-sunday-morning-newscast/65970770#
  18. After a longtime of being at Univision Deportes (17 years), Lindsay Casinelli has since left and joined Telemundo Deportes. Right on cue as well for upcoming coverage of the Olympics. https://ahoramismo.com/entretenimiento/lindsay-casinelli-reacciona-debut-telemundo/
  19. I know I don't see much of these stories anymore. However, I still think it's cool to post because it gives us something to talk about. The dominance of WJXT Jacksonville continues. Now, they're #1 at Noon as well (they weren't before), in addition to their other newscasts. WJXT was 3% short of equaling WFOX, WJAX, WTLV, and WJXX... COMBINED. 20. Former KTNV (Vegas), KOLO and KRNV (Reno) sports director Bryan Samudio has passed away. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1097957399128199&id=100067418476258
  21. Not anytime soon. They just acquired them. Plus, Hearst RARELY sells. The last time was selling Island Television (KITV/KHVO/KMAU) in 2015 to SJL/Lilly. If anyone will stick it out in the longrun, its Hearst. I'm surprised Gray didn't take a swipe into WFTX considering their recent swap with Scripps.
  22. Kara Sundlun has been at WFSB Hartford for 25 years and a well known face in Connecticut during that time. Its long enough to get some recognition into the Connecticut Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. And yes, Great Day co-host and meteorologist Scot Haney is in it as well, thus why he delivered the news. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1223554499799910&id=100064361156707
  23. Huh... interesting. WFTX and WXCW together? You know WFTX's news department would go away in favor of WINK's.
  24. More retirement news... KOLN/KGIN's Chief Meteorologist Ken Siemek at the end of October after 44 years. No time for a replacement either: its Brad Anderson who's been there for nearly 30 years. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.1011now.com/2025/09/03/chief-meteorologist-ken-siemek-retire-after-44-years-1011/%3foutputType=amp
  25. Speaking of new... WGN has debuted another new show for its streaming channel, WGN+. This time, all weather. Its called The Forecasters and airs weeknights at 7 p.m. It debuted last week but here's a sample: https://wgntv.com/video/the-forecasters-september-1/11035096/
