KRQE is losing its "Chief" Chief Meteorologist Mark Ronchetti has decided to leave the station. In unrelated news, in addition to WMTW expanding its noon newscast to an hour and WSOC adding an hour-long 7:00 p.m. newscast on WAXN (all of which will be reported on my blog soon), the following is also happening or has happened (sorry if I'm creating a list here)... WBRC Birmingham has expanded its Sunday morning news by an extra half-hour at 8:00 a.m. which then follows Full Court Press at 8:30 a.m. KHOU Houston has quietly added an hour-long Sunday morning newscast at 7:00 a.m. anchored by Lauren Talarico and Meteorologist Addison Green. WJLA Washington, D.C. has also quietly added a weekend morning newscast but its just a half-hour at 7:30 a.m. on Sundays with Kellye Lynn and Meteorologist Alex Liggitt. Finally, WTAE Pittsburgh is planning to expand its weekday noon newscast to a full hour, following in WMTW's footsteps starting January 13th.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion

KSNW produced it for 8 years, since 2012. -
Circle is supposed to be on WBFS 33.5. Nope! Not this morning. I can't check Gainesville and WCJB 20.4 since I'm not there today.

This doesn't involve New Orleans or a plane crash, but still very sad nonetheless... WAFF 48 reporter Allen Stroud has passed away after a year-long battle with Stage IV lung cancer. https://www.waff.com/2019/12/29/waff-reporter-allen-stroud-passes-away-following-fight-with-cancer/

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
TheRolyPoly replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
I hope that's not what their anchors get paid because if it is, then all that time studying to get a degree in broadcast journalism in pretty much wasted if you get on a Sinclair station only making $15/hour with other jobs that sometimes pay much much higher than that, some even without a college degree. -
Yes though I heard not as much as it used to be.

The only time Bob and Martie got together again was at the very end of last Friday's noon and 6:00 p.m. newscasts.
-
In WBAY's case... NO. WBAY is moving ION to 2.6. Yes... WBAY is going to six channels.

CLARIFICATION: Taggart was at CIVT since the launch of that station... in 1997, not 1999. CIVT launched on September 22nd, 1997.

WFSB is reporting in a late update Sunday night... That stuns me because it looks like she didn't have any massive health problems as of recently.

What I'm saying is that the 10:00 p.m. timeslot is not one of Estrella TV's local news windows. I believe its 11:00 p.m. meaning that WKCF/Estrella TV Orlando will interrupt the final hour of national primetime programming from Estrella TV to carry the local newscast. Currently at that hour, its Alarma TV (Alarm TV) at 10:00 followed by Noticiero Estrella TV - Cierre de edicion (Estrella TV News - Closing Edition) at 10:30 p.m.
-
I'm not sure how they're gonna pull that off considering that Estrella TV's local news windows for affiliates are at 5:00 and 11:00 p.m., not 10:00 p.m. IIRC.

I don't know if I would call it as their crown jewel if their sister station nearby (almost 1hr, 20mins away) does better in the ratings than them.
-
Venezuela? Yes, especially in Doral. Haiti? Yes, especially in Little Haiti. South Florida is really really diverse as there's sprinkles of everyone in each city.
-
I forgot about their Venezuelan bureau too. Wow. And I guess the Haiti one is new to me.

If anything, BH has allowed WPLG to open up its very own in-house news bureaus in D.C. and Havana because there's no way Graham would commit to anything like that.
-
I believe everyone except WPLG rolled it out at the same time.
-
Never mind. WPLG has the new look too. Despite being owned by BH, WPLG still acts like a Graham-owned station.
-
Graham Media Group has a new look to their websites. https://news4jax.com https://click2houston.com https://clickorlando.com https://wsls.com https://ksat.com https://clickondetroit.com The only one that doesn't have it? WPLG.

First, it was CFRN Edmonton's Daryl McIntyre. Now, its CKY Winnipeg's Gord Leclerc. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/special/instagram/anchor-leclerc-laid-off-by-ctv-564943692.html
