  1. How in the world does that show keep getting renewed? I will predict right now that their 20th season will be their last.
  2. You're a smart man for reading my blog. Yes... On February 1st, 2016, WHP moved its simulcast of "The CW Central PA" from WLYH 15 to WHP 21.3. Apparently, it was a simulcast on WLYH 15 and WHP 21.3 for a month in January before only having it on 21.3 starting in February. Remember... WLYH 15 is owned by Howard Stirk Holdings... *cough* Armstrong Williams *cough* a.k.a. Sinclair's "sidecar corporation."
  3. Nope. If WSBK does CW, there's no chance of CW delaying programming because of CBS owning 50% of CW. They have the chance now to do 8pm news under MyTV, but now they won't and once it gets CW, it can add 7pm news to its already daily 10pm news offering (which btw is last in the Boston TV news race at 10pm - compared to WLVI, WFXT, WMUR and WBIN)
  4. Umm... "The 7:00 O'Clock News on My (or CW) 38" ? That could be a possibility.
  5. Paula is a constant figure in Vegas Television and is one that is mean to be respected, trusted and honored. She has been a fixture there for almost 3 decades (I thought she was there longer) and this retirement is well deserved. Coincidence with the date of the retirement, I hope this is a joke (but probably isn't).
  6. This is awesome. From being a meteorologist, to being pushed out her door at WPSD, to now running a pot-growing operation and now... going to jail and possibly not get a job as a TV meteorologist ever again with this arrest and accusation. Isn't the TV news business, great?
  7. Yep. You first lost Lester, then Stefan. Welcome to the TV network industry, my friend. That's what they'll do to you.
  8. Sorry to double post, but WISH going from CBS to CW really did affect them. No affect to WTHR because they are still #1: http://www.ibj.com/articles/57204-cbs-shift-in-2015-rejiggers-tv-ratings?utm_source=this-week-in-ibj
  9. Denise White is back on Tampa Television. She's now doing University Beat with co-host Hetal Gandhi, Sunday nights at 6:30pm on WUSF Channel 16, the secondary PBS station in Tampa. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/92329/wusf-tampa-hires-two-journalists Glad to hear that Denise White is back on Tampa Television. Well respected, well honored and well deserved. Plus, I guess she wasn't ready to "retire" after all.
  10. NorthPine has given us a better understanding of what "KXJB-D2" was meant regarding the CW affiliation agreement with Gray:
  11. WTVJ and WSVN do the same whenever they have the Super Bowl or new HD graphics or set debuts. Not sure about WPLG. I do know that WSVN uses Belkys and Craig after the Super Bowl on FOX and just this past year, used them for the new HD set and look on a Sunday night as well as after the NFC Championship game last month, which was also on a Sunday.
  12. Yes... WPLG 10 has one. WABC 7 has one. WCVB 5 and WMUR 9 have them.
  13. Yep. The East Coast is lucky. But also, the West Coast is more towards having 5pm weekend news than the East Coast where if you are CBS and NBC in the East Coast, forget it. ABC is more relaxed now and so much so that WABC 7 has 5pm weekend news, several FOX affiliates in the East Coast (WOFL, WSVN are examples) have 5pm news, CW if it has a news department (WPIX 11 does one) and MyTV, but there's no MyTV stations with news departments in the East Coast.
  14. Yes. WFTV, WSOC, WHIO and WSB all do weekend 12:00pm noon newscasts. WFLA does their on Sundays only for an hour and WKYC used to do one until they canned it back in September of last year. I'm surprised that no station in Los Angeles does one, considering how many hours all LA news stations do, each weekday and there's still a huge amount on weekends too.
  15. And so does sister-station WHIO.
  16. Oh no. Because TVNewsCheck already reported it, I'm not gonna put FIRST ON THE BLOG for that reason.
  17. So why is Florida markets like WPB (WPTV 5/WPEC 12 - Sat./WPBF 25) and Orlando (WESH 2/WKMG 6 - Sat./WFTV 9) are up at 5:00am on weekends? Plus, why are markets like Boston and Los Angeles and Chicago and Philadelphia and... you get the point by now.
  18. Don't you mean WTVT? And yes, they are a giant. I still love WTVT to this day. But its hard to recognize the good people who have now left WTVT in the past year.
  19. Don't say it works in Miami because for sure I don't watch it. There's no competition against the gorilla WSVN 7 during the 10:00pm timeslot. As many as 250-300K people (to my knowledge of the last ratings period done about Miami) regularly watch their 10:00pm newscast.
  20. How un-traditional to try to get viewers to watch Eyewitness News when they know that they will never win.
  21. God. WGN Morning News is GOLD. Question, WGN Morning News vs. KTLA Morning News... Which is better?
  22. WFOR and WGEN are probably the two stations in Miami that NOBODY watches in their respective languages.
  23. Hosea Sanders at 4:00 and 7:00pm (WCIU) Alan Krashesky at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00pm That's how I see it.
  24. Oh okay. Then finally! For god sakes, if I were to watch KPVI in Idaho Falls (in which I wouldn't because KIFI is so dominant), then I would be puking every night. Plus, WGXA and KPVI still broadcast in SD I believe. And when you have a name like "Frontier Radio Management," then it sounds like a company destined for radio, not TV. They need to get out of the TV business, pronto!
  25. So it looks like its buying a station with very not much news and a station that is the only CBS in the state that doesn't air news. My god. Weren't Frontier, the same folks who owned WGXA 24 in Macon until sold to Sinclair in 2014?
