NowBergen 681
Basically he just said thanks for the memories as he signed off the 4 pm news. Â Very low key and underwhelming. Â You have to wonder why? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11652-wnbc-news-4-new-york/page/40/#findComment-251274 Share on other sites

It's hard to do a grand farewell for someone that's not retiring or doesn't have tenure. 4 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11652-wnbc-news-4-new-york/page/40/#findComment-251275 Share on other sites

Even for Janice and Bruce. NowBergen 681
He delivered his marks before late sports last night in the delayed 11 pm edition.  He said he was looking forward returning to Chicago where he was  born and lived, and the return to sister station WMAQ.  He mentioned how exciting it was to first come to 30 Rock to work.  He also mentioned that he would be back in the building on occasion as his kids grandddude works in the building.  He also thanked Natalie in particular for the personal friendships and support as they have kids the same age - a toddler and infant and they will continue that over face time.  Much more satisfying to the viewers than his barely mentioning it at the end of the 4 pm news. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11652-wnbc-news-4-new-york/page/40/#findComment-251295 Share on other sites

Did they feel that David would be a better fit? Â Having worked with native Chicagoans previously, their love for their city is amazing and prefer it to NY. Â With a wife and now 2 kids, they may have felt it is a better quality of life, plus it may be the clearer path to being the head honcho on WMAQ whereas David had always been considered the heir apparent. Â Although Stefan's father and mother are here in NY, his in-laws are in Chicago. SnellKrell 52
OK  His wife hated living in New York! First when they lived on the UES and now in New Rochelle.  Pain and simple, she's homesick!!!!  David had been considered by many to he the heir apparent to Chuck, that was until Stefan was given the 11 when Chuck cut back. Stefan was clearly the chosen one.  He will be the #1 anchor at WMAQ, the path isn't just clearer, it's a reality, part of his deal. Given he was at the station for 4 years and not 40 plus years like Chuck I think that was an appropriate send off. The 4pm newscast was not the final newscast he did so it was not necessary for him to say much. Once Chuck either stops anchoring at WNBC or retires I expect them to give him the type of send off that WABC gave Diana Williams last year. ref1997 59
As expected, David Ushery is anchoring the 4PM news starting today. However, he anchored the 11AM news earlier today too. It seems they haven't found a replacement yet to anchor the 11AM news. NowBergen 681
They were at the smaller side desk this morning as has been in the past month or so.  Perhaps they were doing some work there and couldn't use that corner.  Edited October 1, 2020 by NowBergen Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11652-wnbc-news-4-new-york/page/40/#findComment-251506 Share on other sites
