Chicago2008 22 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Mark also occasionally filled in during Bulls telecasts.

And let’s rewind the last time they had some outside help was network wise for the morning show and that was in 2019-2020. Adriana Diaz filled in for Ryan and Erin on certain occasions (especially when Erin was on maternity leave)

mouseboy33 101 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) David Yeoman just revealed they are indeed moving back to the streetside studio on this Instagram stories. He called the current set their old studio. So we were thinking it was going to be a streaming studio or big weather set. Well it seems its going to be a new news studio and the whole operation is moving back down the hall https://www.instagram.com/davidyeomansweather/?hl=en Edited June 27, 2024 by mouseboy33 .. 1

A couple of doors away from the streetside set.

I hope it has some warm elements.
MorningNews 1483 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Will be interesting to see how they adapt the look for a street side studio. Unless they don’t actually plan to make use of the windows.
cbs2worksforyou 44 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I just walked past. The shades are still drawn but the desk is in there. It’s placed where the 2008 news desk was with the anchors facing out towards the windows. To the left is a 3 panel area. Couldn’t see much else.

WBBM will have a smaller version tailored to their space. While I'm not surprised they went this route, I am somewhat disappointed they got yet another station group set instead of something different/unique. The weather center/green screen will block the windows to the south leaving the west facing windows unblocked (the ones that face Daley Plaza). While the green screen 'appears' to be retractable, I'm not sure if they will leave it down 24/7 and allow people to see from those windows. They have removed the black curtain that surrounded the studio and the "coming soon" signage. The cameras have been moved into place and the lighting appears to be set. With that said, the move to the street side studio appears imminent (possibly next week....) . Edited June 30, 2024 by Jase
R.R. 96 Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 So… whoever predicted Baker back on sports-beat, yeah it’s happening. So much for defeating the purpose.
Jase 1065 Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Not sure what the thought process is here. Why create a massive hole in the mornings just to fill a sports position that you could have lived without (for a couple of months)?
R.R. 96 Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 On a positive note, the new set is expected to premiere Monday July 8th. 2 1
Georgie56 3318 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 (edited) The new set debuts at 4pm today, and it is the KCAL set. Edited July 8, 2024 by Georgie56 8 1
24994J 5619 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Ignoring that right side monitor graphic, there are a lot of hints that the 2 dies this afternoon. All signage, verbal mentions, and guides make no reference to CBS 2 (News).

24994J 5619 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Might we be seeing some customization and local flare in whatever is launching today? ✶✶✶✶ 1

Georgie56 3318 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 The new set has launched, and CBS 2 News is officially history. It is indeed now CBS News Chicago. 3 2
R.R. 96 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 And so far… looking good, back facing the windows for the first time since 2008 2
GodfreyGR 685 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Is "For The Love Of Chicago" a new slogan for them as well?
MorningNews 1483 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 That window shot is so cool. For all of their woes, WBBM has done great with this and their last CBS mandated set. What they did to the 2008 set at the end was criminal. 3
mouseboy33 101 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 (edited) They added the 4 red stars from the Chicago Flag to the logo. Ehhh. CBS NEWS Chicago.... Most people will still call it Channel 2. No matter what the networks do to try and brand local stations. People continue to say Channel___. Dont think its going to change anytime soon. Some quick-takes: Looks good. One glaring issue with the new set. Is the awful background noise. ITS VERY ECHOEY!!!!! Goodness. And there is a noticeable static noise when it goes from the studio to b-roll or live outside. Overall the studio audio is garbage. The lighting on the set is blasted with light. It washes out the video walls. Weather looks like crap with the lighting issues from the green screen. Channel 7 screens faces the windows and dont seem to have all those reflections from passing cars and lighting issues on the weather wall. There are definitely some technical issues that seemingly were UN-anticipated or yet to be fixed. I like the theme music when it premiered.......Now i find it incredibility repetitive and boring. Im sure there are some other cuts. KCAL uses a variety. Kinda boring low-res image down the Chicago River. I guess its better than the ugly river-level blurry images they used previously. Overall the production is VERY bland. Kinda yawn, sleepy production. You can tell its all computerized run-down and super simplified and dry, a Jennifer Lyons trademark. The boring graphics package doesnt help. Nice set. But ehh. Edited July 8, 2024 by mouseboy33 1
GodfreyGR 685 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Special microphone at the desk to interact with the people watching outside... Interesting touch! 4
