I saw that NBC's NASCAR coverage is still using the old 2015 graphics as well. This year is the final year of the current NBC contract with NASCAR (they begin a new contract with less races next year), so I'm assuming they're waiting until next year's new contract starts to roll out an overhauled graphics package for NASCAR.

The old 2015 graphics are still in use by the RSNs as well, I'm assuming that they'll wait until NBA & NHL to start in October.

NBC Sports Chicago will shut down on September 30th.

I wonder if NBC will hang onto the NBC Sports Chicago office(s)/studio? They greatly reduced their leased space at the NBC Tower by more than half, but it would be a shame if that awesome NBC Sports Chicago set ends up in the trash heap.

Especially considering for they studio setting, NBC Sports Chicago stepped it up with the sofa instead of the typical desk.

NBC Sports Philadelphia has switched to the new NBC Sports look.

For all we know, this just must be for their NFL coverage. I'd expect NBC Sports Bay Area to get a similar refresh for their 49ers coverage come Monday before & after their MNF game against the Jets.

NHL and NBA coverage will have the new package as well. Phillies finishes out the season with the existing graphics.

edit: Phillies got moved to the new package, due to some technical considerations.

SVG has a nice write up on the new graphics and the new tech driving the look as well as sample stills

https://www.sportsvideo.org/2024/09/26/nbc-sports-regional-networks-debuts-new-graphics-package-launches-new-cloud-based-graphics-production-ecosystem/

Big takeaway here is this is actually it's own package evolved from the Big Ten package.

Also from the SVG article and evidenced from last night's Flyers' game, the score bugs' templates will remain the same with reskins to the new look. Makes sense as the scoring engines were just updated two seasons ago.

Their successor?  CHSN.

https://chsn.com/info/

It will include OTA coverage in Chicago along with cable and satellite, as well as carriage deals with Gray in adjacent and regional markets.

They would have come up with alternate programming in Indianapolis and Milwaukee during Bulls (both markets) and White Sox (Milwaukee) telecasts.  Those pesky territorial rights.

SNY didn't get the new NBC RSN graphics:

(And yes I know SNY isn't technically an NBC RSN being mostly owned by the Mets but Comcast does own a portion of the network and NBC Sports does manage the production side of the network)

The NBC Sports FAST channel is now known as NBC Sports NOW.

They're also bringing back The Lights (the former, but very brief, NBCSN highlights program) as the NBC Sports Highlight Factory.

So who will be the American rights holder broadcaster for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah? Well, NBC, of course.

Except today, the network made it official by picking up two more rights to the Olympic Games: the 2034 Winter Olympics SLC and the 2036 Summer Olympics in a city TBD. It was supposed to expire in 2032.

A $3B investment in which NBC is now a "strategic partner" with the IOC, instead of just being a regular rights holder broadcaster for the Olympics. With this extension, NBC will be on 48 years of covering the Olympics when its all suddenly done (since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul; Winter since 2002 in, ironically enough, Salt Lake City).
