I would always watch him when I visited my family in Delaware. I always enjoyed him. Cheers to new adventures.

I didn't know Erika Gonzalez left KDVR Denver last month.

Less than 5 minutes ago, I learned she joined my CBS/CW duo, WFOR/WBFS Miami. She's doing mornings and is back in her hometown.

What happened to Keith Jones? I've been noticing that they've been alternating anchors between Teri Hornstein and Austin Carter.

In a move that should surprise no one, CBS 58, lead by former sports reporter somehow turned news director Jessie Garcia, has named Lance Allen as their new sports director. Lance was pushed out at WTMJ this year after nearly 30 years in their newsroom.

Lance replaces Kevin Holden, who Jessie Garcia has been trying to push out at CBS 58 after serving as their sports director and bilingual Packers and Brewers play-by-play guy for Telemundo Wisconsin after nearly 15 years.

Jessie has been in charge of WDJT's newsroom for 3 years now but has yet to really move the needle. Jessie and Anne Brown, a first-time GM who came over from a marketing role at WITI, have built a playbook based on plucking talent from other Milwaukee stations but haven't found much success in this strategy.

Good for her, man. Over the years, she's been a very recognizable face at WITI's Wake Up News alongside Rob Haswell and Gus Gnorski, among others and it has remained #1 a bit in part due to her presence so it'll be weird to see her doing nights now but its very deserving for her as she approaches 25 years at WITI next year.

Okay, I am so excited for this and this is stuff only public television can do.

KTCA Twin Cities PBS has produced a three-part series called Broadcast News. Produced by Minnesota news legend Cathy Wurzer, It takes a close and unique look at the Twin Cities television market from the 1960s onward. I have yet to see them but I WILL be watching them.

To paraphrase the descriptions of each episode a.k.a. TL;DR (these are my descriptions based on titles and descriptions used at TPT.org):

  • Episode one mainly focuses on the 60s and 70s as Stanley E. Hubbard is a pioneer in broadcasting which leads KSTP to dominate until an unknown Dave Moore and WCCO take over, skyrocket, and create a fierce battle between the two. Also, women and POC fighting to be included into newsrooms.
  • Episode two gets to the late 70s into early 80s, continuing to showcase women and POC fighting to be included, weather and meteorologists now becoming an important part of the news, and production values becoming more mainstream and polished.
  • Episode three gets into local news from the 80s to today. KARE 11 is the laughingstock... until its no longer and becomes a major threat to WCCO and KSTP, the Hubbards are investing in their stations, and continuing shifts in the media landscape as newscasters have their private lives thrusted into public view.

Watch them now before KTCA puts them into PBS Passport and then is paywalled.

There's video out there of it, but Leon Harris struggled through the 6pm show on WRC tonight; they had to do an audible to network stories and extended weather segment through the last 20 minutes. Hope what ever happens, he's okay.

I saw it live yesterday and it looked like he was sick. I do hope he is okay because he is a really good anchor.

Update Cassie has now updated and made the announcement official.

Not sure if this was actually announced because I haven’t seen anything from KWTV’s Cassie Heiter but she is apparently leaving the Griffin Media station and heading down I-35 to Dallas and joining WFAA.
