Related: After decades with some variation of a red 2 and NBC peacock logo, KTUU recently launched a peackock-less WBTV knockoff station logo and more stylized "AK News Source" news logo.

Not sure? It probably depends on how much NBC pushes the issue.

Does this affect stations Gray is currently acquiring? (Or potential acquisitions in 2026)

Not likely. Network logos isn’t required for NBC affiliates, not like Fox.

Their hardware doesn't support GrayONE.

Yes. They use WSI MAX for weather.

Is that the same story for KOTA then? They've had GrayOne weather for a while now, but still the old graphics package.

My best guess that's the case, and their graphics system likely dates back to when ABC moved from downtown Rapid City to Fox's facility on Skyline Drive, and hasn't hit the point in the capital budget cycle where it can be updated/replaced. (Affiliation is the only easy way to say that with how Gray rearranged the signals when they purchased, spun off, and eventually repurchased what had been KOTA-TV which is now KHME-TV, and moved the KOTA-TV call letters and IP to what was KEVN-TV.)

KOTA uses WSI MAX, yes.

Understand, weather graphics often ship from the group's design hub and they will "install" the right assets for the weather system a station uses, either WSI MAX or Baron Lynx, sometimes both. Once the assets are installed on the weather computers, while there will likely be some pre-made templates, it's up to the meteorologists to customize each individual graphic.

For news graphics, though, each station needs to make sure its hardware is compatible, groups may make the decision to deprecate certain hardware configurations so that it's easier for their remote technicians to diagnose a problem. Depending on the station, they will likely have to wait until they invest in new hardware and will launch new graphics when they're ready.

For each station, it's up to management to decide whether they want to wait to launch weather graphics with the new news graphics, or just go ahead and launch weather graphics when they're ready.

The experiment continues for Gray's Local News Live on over-the-air broadcast television.

I just found out that WBXM-CD Selma, already the home to Telemundo Montgomery and WSFA's sister station, has added the 24/7 news network on digital channel 5.2. I have mentioned three others before that are all in Texas (College Station, Lubbock, and Odessa/Midland) that also have stations carrying LNL on a subchannel.

The question is... is this something Gray is willing to take nationally for their stations or just keep it for a select few until its ready for a possible OTA launch down the road?

Gray gets another Telemundo affiliate.

On New Year's Day, Gray got the affiliation from Delta Media (where it was on KLWB 50.2) for themselves on KNGC-LD 25.2 in Lafayette, La.

25.1 is home to GCSEN, the last Louisiana market without the 24-hour sports network.

This is in addition to the awaiting FCC approval of Gray getting KATC from Scripps, KADN, and KLAF-LD from Allen.

This kinda feels like winning the FIFA Peace Prize.

Or like the 1st Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence....

Otherwise, this station has been a dumpster fire, even under Meredith.  Has Gray really cleaned up this place that much?

Gray has expanded its affiliation agreement with Telemundo nationwide.

Not only that, there are three new Telemundo affiliates. I already mentioned before Telemundo Chattanooga (WTVL-CD and WDNN-CD 49.1; TNV-SEN is on .2), but now there's also Telemundo Lafayette (KNGC-LD 25.2; GC-SEN is on .1), and Telemundo Dayton (WZCD-LD 30.2; RESN is on .1).

It looks like Gray's WOIO/WUAB/WTCL/WOHZ is finally getting its wish.

Come the end of next year, the quad group of stations will be leaving Reserve Square in Downtown Cleveland for suburban Independence at the Independence Technology Center.

History is being made in Portland. For the first time ever, we're getting a women's sports-focused RSN and Gray is making it happen.

KPDX is being converted from FOX 12 Plus into Rose City SportsNet, the home of Portland Thorns FC (NWSL) and the new Portland Fire (WNBA).

It will still be OTA on Channel 49 and Cable 13 (next to KPTV itself).

WBBJ now has the Gray website design. I'd think it is a bit of a ways down from getting GrayONE, but I think a branding like First Alert could either occur sooner or with that.

If WBBJ doesn't get some kind of rebrand, I'll be surprised. My bet is something like First Alert 7 or maybe just WBBJ since they have multiple networks.

Looks like they're still working on the content, judging from the rather sparse navigation at the top.
