Just checked the schedule via TitanTV.

Two hours: 8-10pm. KCOP will still simulcast KTTV's 11am, 5pm, and 11pm news.

They never learn. I remember when the now 5pm news launched. It was originally called Studio 11 LA.

That's my point...although I don't mind "Good Nite L.A.", but I think it'll be a matter of time before that's retitled to "Fox 11 News at 11(pm)".

Why can't they keep these news titles simple over there on Bundy Drive lol?  What's wrong with "Fox 11 News Primetime" or a similar variation?

"LA Live" is trademarked in itself for the downtown complex and it's easily assumed that they want to avoid any confusion with the network schedule by just going with "Fox 11 Primetime" (it's on channel 13 so you can't use that), so it gets its own bespoke branding; they'll probably figure out something better in time.

Hopefully so...it's just a clumsy title to me, but to each their own.  Also, just for the sake of conversation...I work in downtown, about a mile from L.A. Live.

Since kcop will now air news in primteime at least on weeknights, will they consider putting news on kcop on weekend mornings as well? It appears the stations want to expand their newscasts.

It's already confusing at 5pm when it's FOX 11 News at 5:00 on both KTTV and KCOP.

FOX 11 Primetime News on the Plus would've been a better name.

The 11am hour of GDLA is called GDLA+. I would just called it Fox11News+ Primetime to keep consistency. The + distinction lets viewers know its on KCOP since the News13/my13 News branding died years ago.

Did anyone find out what the ratings are for the newscasts?

I don't know where to find information on that.

Usually there would be information about the station newscast on Wikipedia?  It appears there's no updated information on kcop wiki page about them showing news even though it's produced by kttv.

Has there been information regarding the ratings of their newscasts?

Shocking development at FOX LA. Elex Michaelson, the prime time news anchor at KTTV is leaving the station. Unknown where he’s going next. The departure appears to be amicable.

What's his story? Didn't he work at KABC?  Was he a popular anchor in the market?

Yep. He left KABC several years back, sounded like he wasn’t happy there, or getting a chance to anchor.

Anchoring the 10pm newscast at KTTV is a big deal and Elex was well regarded in the market and popular with younger viewers. He was certainly right up there with John Beard.

I'm not sure about ranking his popularity amongst the local news anchors here in Los Angeles, but he was trusted enough to host a weekly political show that has aired on Friday nights for the last eight years ("The Issue Is"), and it's syndicated to many stations throughout California (including some non-Fox affiliated stations).  He's also moderated several local and state electoral candidate debates.  And yes, he was at KABC previously prior to joining KTTV in 2017, and before that he was at XETV in San Diego.

His last day at KTTV is Friday, August 15, and he posted a message on X...

Definitely not up there with John Beard. He had a pretty solid career at KNBC before going to KTTV. Elex is/was popular with the younger viewers, but never drew enough eyeballs to make them competitive. He started his KTTV career post KABC doing GDLA.

I do think he tried to be like a network anchor for a local station he was “primary anchor” for all breaking news events. He constantly never traded off the introductions during the 10pm news he always lead it off and never let Christine do it though later he let her do it during the 5pm shows. Honestly I was okay with him but I have a feeling Christine wasn’t Im telling you they never let her be the lead anchor after all these years it a shame. I hope he gets a national job.

What do you mean? Christine Devine has been the lead co-anchor at FOX11 since the early 90s. Outlasting co-anchors Chris Harris (RIP), Bob Donley, John Beard, Carlos Amezcua, Jeff Michael, Dan Cohen and now Elex Michaelson.

She has as much experience and gravitas in the market as Colleen Williams and Pat Harvey.

Thank you. That was somewhat of a ridiculous thing to say lol. Elex is solid but doesn’t come anywhere close to John Beard. Hell, he isn’t even Carlos Amuezca.

I was surprised when he got that job at KTTV... Was lackluster here in San Diego.

To be fair, Elex is/was great with poltical reporting and that is where he shines but other than that, there is nothing that special about him. He is definitely not on the same journalistic level of the other people who were anchors at FOX 11 but he is tough and fair so people do respect that. Hopefully Elex’s new opportunity will pay him better and allow him to be stable. As far as who his replacement on the 5, 6, and 10pm newscasts: we shall see.

Probably Marla, I wouldn’t mind seeing a female anchor team. Christine and Marla or Marla and Christine whatever management bills it as.

I liked him sometimes like I said he treated this job as if he was a national anchor, but I don’t hate him. I don’t think it’s nice to level or compare him to other people who anchored at FOX where he’s better than them or not, he earned his marks y’all are being mean.
