I remember what it was like back then in the late 80s and early 90s.  It was weird to see Paul Johnson working 7 days a week.  I think the stations didn't view it necessary at the time to have many weather anchors, when one of the 2 news anchors could just read to the viewers what the weather was or will be.  Later in the mid 90s when the stations started to invest more in their newscast did they hire more meteorologist or weather anchors.

Have there been quiet anchor changes/departures? I saw a quick promo that featured Colleen Williams and Michael Brownlee as the 6pm team. Not sure if this is for the Olympics or a permament move? Carolyn Johnson was the previous anchor at 6pm.

What happened to Carolyn Johnson?  I haven't seen her lately.  For the anchor changes, think it's temporary with Brownlee & Williams.

She posted on Facebook she is on medical leave and receiving treatment.

I saw on TV listings that knbc is premiering a new program called Saturday Night Lights on August 31.  I was wondering if it is produced by knbc or it's a general program following their college football coverage.

Very likely, it's produced by KNBC considering the time it comes on after college football, similar to what we have here in Phoenix now apparently as KPNX has a new Saturday night sports show called 12 Sports Locker Room which actually starts tonight after the NASCAR race. Have a feeling in addition to being post-college football programming to keep sports fans tuned in afterwards, this also feels like a replacement for having lost the Cardinals broadcasting rights to KPHO/KTVK & hence the post-SNF programming as well alongside their Sunday night sports show 12 Sports Tonight.

I think knbc should bring back their old slogan, "the station working 4 you" & "coverage you can count on" as well as segments including 4 your health,  4 your money, & Just 4you.  I also liked their theme music of the late 90s early 2000s.

Does anyone think they should use these slogans, segments, & music as well again?

Per her Instagram (@CarolynNBCLA) Carolyn Johnson has succesfully completed multiple rounds of chemo and returning to the anchor desk this week. The post says that she will start with the 11pm. Not sure how long the arrangement will be or if it is a slow ramp up for her to get her work stamina back as she used to anchor the 4pm and 6pm. Colleen Williams has anchored the 11pm at KNBC for nearly 30yrs. Could also be an effort to cut back Colleen's work load and start the push towards retirement.

Annabelle was hired to be on  the 3 & 5pm newscast last year.  Michael was supposed to anchor the 11am & 4pm newscast.   Then Carolyn got sick & the station changed their anchor lineup.   Robert is still with the station as a fill in anchor.

I think the new lineup will be

11a & 3p - Annabelle

4 & 6pm - Robert & Carolyn - when she's able to come back full time

5 & 11pm - Colleen & Michael

7pm - Colleen or rotating anchors

The anchor lineup is incorrect. I know its been a mess lately, but there are 6pm promos featuring Michael and Colleen. Robert Kovacik is one of their top street reporters.

11a and 3p- Annabelle

4, 5, 6- Colleen/Michael

7- Colleen

11- Carolyn. She may take on another show as her health improves. She has been filling in on earlier shows this week and last as Colleen is off.

Colleen is almost 70. She has anchored the 11pm since Kelly Lange stepped down from that show in the mid-late 90s. I think her getting off the 11pm is one step towards her eventual retirement.

I hope they don't remove Colleen permanently from the 11pm unless she chooses to step down from that newscast.   I think the anchor lineup that they're advertising is just temporary.

What are the current anchor lineup at the station for all of their newscasts?  Its a bit confusing.

Today in LA- Lynette and Adrian

11am- Annabelle Sedano

3pm- Annabelle Sedano

4p/5p/6p- Colleen Williams and Michael Brownlee

7pm- Colleen Williams

11pm- Carolyn Johnson

Weekend Today in LA- Michelle Valles

Weekend Evenings- Kathy Vara and Jonathan Gonzales

I believe they have also made some weather changes as well. I don't see Melissa Magee on at 11pm, it is now David Biggar.

Carolyn will fill in on earlier shows as needed. I assume as Carolyn's health improves, she will pick up an additional show. Before her medical leave, she co-anchored at 4p and 6p.

Colleen anchoring all of the afternoon/ evening newscasts is a bit much.  Why are they not rotating anchors between 4-6:30pm?  Will this be the permanent lineup or will it change as Carolyn Johnson health improves?  I hope this lineup is not permanent, especially for the evening & 11pm newscasts.

It seems weird to start someone just back from illness on the 11. I think I saw her on at 4 and 5 on Thursday last week too.
