Really surprised they're actually not adding a new personality to the schedule. Yeah, I'm also surprised that they aren't adding new personality as you said Springer. 1

Really surprised they're actually not adding a new personality to the schedule. The last thing they (we) need is another 'personality'- based show. They should keep the opinions to a minimum and focus on news. It's bad enough they have given a de facto contributor/host spot to O'Reilly. I'll take UFO coverage any day over seeing more of him (and the like). 1 1

nathannah 2792 Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Watching dayside NewsNation and it's getting to be very clear that they barely ever need the studio or even a mic, because their anchors never get to appear on screen unless they're just handing off to the pundit to blather on, and usually it's in a quad box to add insult to injury while the same video loops over and over for ten minutes. It's absurd; LiveNow and Local News Now do a much better job showing off their talent during their shows, and I couldn't name one of those folks in a lineup. They'll only show the talent on this channel that they overpaid for to get ratings that are much worse than the edited movies WGN America they showed in primetime a decade back. Sorry Markie, Marnie and Nichole (not sorry to any of the talent that saw the writing on the wall two years back and fled). This network outside of primetime can literally be handled by their local stations, and it's no wonder to see why cable providers really don't want to have to carry it in order to carry a local Nexstar station. They'd be better off just airing various WGN, WPIX and KTLA newscasts and probably get better ratings for it to boot. 4 1
DENDude 259 Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 Well it seems Chris Cuomo is not doing well ratings wise, are we surprised? I guess I'm not, for as big of a news junkie that I am, I haven't watched NN in months, it's certainly not top of mind for me when breaking news happens. https://www.tvinsider.com/1212232/chris-cuomo-newsnation-ratings-reportedly-down-90-percent-to-cnn-show/ 1

Jase 1164 Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 First Llamas, now Cuomo... Sounds like another New York Post hit piece. From today's (8/30/25), Crains Chicago Business: 'Even so [in related to Cuomo's ratings], NewsNation has been growing overall, according to Nielsen figures. Nielsen figures indicate that Cuomo’s show is up nearly 25% in total viewers compared with his first quarter on the network, suggesting that while the audience remains modest compared with rivals, it has grown steadily since launch.' 1

Both can be true. His numbers can be a fraction of what he saw at CNN. And they also can be higher than when he started at NewsNation. I have no reason to question the 25% increase in viewers since he started, but a big percentage increase with the disappointing numbers NewsNation has still is not a lot of viewers. Same goes network wide with their marketing as the fastest growing cable news network. The reality is, NewsNation has the platform of being distributed on nearly every MVPD and has 200+ local outlets promoting it relentlessly on broadcast and digital. But, they're still struggling to find an audience. There are two pieces of data I'd love to see, but know I never will: what they are charging for spots, and which local markets they perform best in. 1

I don't think Chris (nor NewsNation) believed he was going to bring in the same amount of viewers as he had at CNN. He was/is a familiar face (to viewers) and despite some baggage, would draw in people to the fledgling network that is News Nation. Move importantly, given the current state of cable (and linear television in general); any viewership gains should be viewed as a positive. And to no surprise, the New York Post didn't put this issue/topic in the proper context. 2
tyrannical bastard 4678 Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 I've noticed that Nexstar has been filling in the "streams" on their OTT apps with NewsNation programming... 1

Which tends to be their MO.

MorningNews 1711 Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 How appropriate is it for Chris Cuomo to be covering his own brother’s mayoral campaign? This is what got him fired from CNN.

Megatron81 343 Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 As long as Andrew didn't go on Chris's show I have no problem with Chris calling the race that his brother lost. CNN should've kept the rule when Chris was a host of the show that Andrew couldn't be on it, it was nothing but butt kissing by Chris when he interviewed his brother during COVID.
