Georgie56 3333 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) Well, I thought Fox would hang on to the NFL graphics package they debuted at Super Bowl LVII, but nope. We're getting a new NFL graphics package after all. Edited February 8 by Georgie56 1 2

Dave Lampstein 129 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I was going to call bullshit on this because it looks stupid but then I saw this… 1
Viper550 292 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Kinda looks like an ultra minimalistic take on the ESPN CBB/SEC on ABC graphics with how it handles the "slide-outs". The team names being in a typeface that appears to actually be derived from the Fox logo is a neat touch, though this looks like something you'd see on a preseason game rather than the Super Bowl. Somehow this makes the college football graphics look good. Edited February 9 by Viper550 1 1

Viper550 292 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 So far the studio graphics on the pre-game are brand new and do not appear to match up with these. In fact so far they may actually be an improvement, and may actually lend some credence to the theory this may be a decoy, some other test version that is not going to be used (though if they did that layout but with the trim/design of these graphics we're seeing...), or someone going a lot harder in trying to make fake leaks than usual. Now, of course, we've seen Fox basically "chicken out" on debuting graphics before (LI), but the last two games they have been consistent. 1

Spring Rubber 717 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 For the game broadcast, they are indeed using lower thirds that match the leaked scorebug, totally different from pregame.
Spring Rubber 717 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Yep, the leaked score graphic is real, and it's as ugly as the leaked images indicated. 1
Georgie56 3333 Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 (edited) The animations are what's saving the bug. Edited February 9 by Georgie56 1

It seems like the logotype font is a custom version of Franklin Gothic (funny, ‘cause I always noticed similarities between the Fox wordmark and FG, and even tried replicating the wordmark using that font when I was a teenager). The bowls and kerning of some of the lettering help give it a hybrid style of FG and the Fox logo, but they look a little off from the derived logo (noticeable towards kickoff, during the promotion of the Fox Deportes simulcast, when the logotype was used instead of the actual logo). Georgie56 3333 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 (edited) I'm wondering if this font will be used across Fox Sports (MLB, NASCAR, etc.) Wouldn't make sense to make a font based on your network's logo and not use it across your whole division. Edited February 10 by Georgie56 2
Geoffrey 876 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Not a fan of it. It's both large and also a bit hard to read the scores at times. Saw social media comments saying it looks unfinished and felt like an old PowerPoint presentation -- my thoughts exactly. For years, we were trending toward smaller graphics, perhaps adding more information but still everything getting smaller. Which is everything getting bigger these days? 1 1 1
JTT 115 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Graphics are fine with me. Can't believe Terry Bradshaw is retiring. I thought he might have worked at least a couple more seasons, but with recent events that came up, i guessed he was forced to retire. Edited February 10 by JTT 1

He indicated in a recent interview with Radio Row that he’d likely retire after the network’s telecast of Super Bowl LXIII in 2029, meaning he’d likely seek a two-year contract extension to close out his broadcast career. Georgie56 3333 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 Someone did a video analysis of the new Fox NFL look. 1
tyrannical bastard 4055 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 It's almost like it's 1993 and Fox debuted these as a test before landing the NFL rights a year later. Because back then, it was basically text on the screen with the score coming in and out of break. 1 1

I apologize. I saw fhat there was a tribute for Bradshaw. I only saw part of the segment. It may have been for the event held earlier last week for him. 1

Jimmy Johnson, however, got a tribute segment during pregame, but that was more because he's not likely still going to be on the show when they have the big game again in 2029. His last massive viewership appearance. 1 1
Dave Lampstein 129 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I’m not sure the Fox logo translates well into a full typeface. 1
Megatron81 289 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 It was alright not good but not bad either guess I'm indifferent on this. 1
