Also, I'll add that WPLG's last 10pm news for WSFL will be Fri., Aug. 1st as they've stopped doing the weekend 10pm for some time there.

WSFL already has Morning Rush from Scripps News and that'll go from 8-10am. Two new programs from the streamer will be added, including Today As It Happened at 6pm (hour-long) and The National Report at 11pm (also hour-long). The former of the two will push Inside South Florida, WSFL's only locally-produced show, to 5:30pm.

Also to note that Tamron moves off WSFL to ABC 18 with no timeslot change, with JHud moving an hour back on WSFL, so we may be seeing some more schedule horse-trading through the next two months. But for a channel put together with only a few weeks notice, WSVN hasn't done too bad outside Extra being dead time spackle in the morning and evening, but you're going to just have those spots where you just need to keep the lights on.

I just don't understand moving Live up an hour on WPLG at all, where you could just air it live at 9 rather than keep the news going until 11, but I suppose they want to try to counterprogram The View. Miami is basically New York South so I don't think that makes any sense, but People Puzzler being the Family Feud prime time substitute here works well enough.

Sunbeam were talking with ABC since late last year. It's only new to us. Extra is the glue that holds Deco that holds time to allegedly put Live in that slot next year

there are no original ideas over there.

They're copying WHDH and hope it sticks.🤷‍♂️

also, WPLG said streaming ate up exclusivity and why they said no to ABC. Welp, Jeopardy! and Wheel are going to Hulu, Peacock and Disney+with current episodes plus the entire library going back 42 seasons, in September, so all the fans can play it all day long on demand.

It's amazing that Steve Wilkos and Karamo have no affiliates in Miami since Scripps dropped the former from WSFL a couple of years ago. You'd think WPLG probably would picked them up.

The closest both shows get to the market are WTVX and WTCN in West Palm Beach, respectively.

Ch10 will have to be in dire straits to put these two on. They aren't into low brow shows. Many over there (still?) think WSVN is low brow news if that says anything

billboards going up around town.

I wonder if they were smart enough to buy social ads against WPLG's FB profile and followers

Ol' Scotty is off here, it wasn't ABC that did this, it was Sunbeam. By far the best-designed easy-to-read, billboard I've seen in a long time. Ed would be proud.

To be fair, the Ansin's are kinda known for real-estate so I'm not that surprised.

Nope! That's trash TV programs right there, and I'm glad WPLG didn't pick them up. We don't need those programs here, so no. Not a bad thing.

This all confirms to me that GMA First Look will be the LAST ABC program on WPLG at 4am and the FIRST ABC program on the new ABC Miami at 4:30am.

That MyNetworkTV was barely ever a thought...they did not even want to entertain the idea of My Local 10, even as late night filler.

It looks like they'll have the Litton block until at least September then (syndicated separately from ABC)...a bit of a surprise, but not entirely unexpected.

Isn't WPLG going to air those HBCU Football & basketball games in the fall? That is what ARC-WMI airs from Sep to March before the tourneys begin in mid-March.

I think that was the point, a CW/FOX style long continuous block of morning news.

Agreed that ABC 18's schedule is not bad. I'm also surprised --and impressed -- that 18 opted to pay for syndicated programming in time-slots already covered by 7 News. Examples airing Extra at 10 and Tamron Hall at 4 when they could have just simulcasted 7 News.

It's almost surreal to see WSVN promoting FOX.

I know WSVN was ever purchased by FOX, Fox would have a hard time trying to standardize it.

Im just starting to realize Miami number 2 with the most affiliation switches with 3 89’, 95’, 25’. Raleigh, North Carolina has had the most with 4 affiliation switches 85’, 95’, 98’, 16’. But I’m a couple of years I see this happening again in the 305. I wonder if Miami is coming to tie us. lol.

I think Boston has that trophy as well.... 1960?, 1972, 1995, 2016.  BOS also has two stations that lost their licenses and were replaced by a different licensee on same frequencies.

Local tv is going away.  Network apps will be the future. The tv stations that go local news heavy or can create some sort of targeted local brand will be the survivors.  All else will go away or be minimized.  The network over the air affiliate model is dead.

Are you counting the WB/UPN/ My Net/CW switches in there? Those I haven't kept up with lol.

In Boston, WB and UPN were always on the same channels (56 & 38).  CW has always been on 56.  MyNet (is that even really still a thing?) Started on 50, moved to 38, and is currently not cleared in Boston.

Marquette in the 80s and 90s with WLUC and WJMN bouncing between NBC, CBS, ABC was also a dizzying amount of switches; CBS buying WJMN and WBUP's launch thankfully ended that ping-pong.

Yes the 1998 switch which was the dumbest move on Sinclair broadcasting part between WLFL and at the time new station WRAZ. WRDC after losing NBC I believe assumed UPN afterwards wasn’t really an affiliation switch since WNCN was independent before becoming NBC. And then WRDC was the one losing NBC and becoming independent and picked up UPN afterwards but yes I’m counting the 1998 switch.
