RARE -- Today Show (Nov 2001) covering the aftermath of the American 587 crash. Post 9/11 colored lower thirds were in use. The patriotic tinted peacock bug was still used.

NBC News American 587 crash coverage (2001). In similar fashion to 911, Matt and Katie are reporting on an American Airlines crash in New York City that occurred during the Today Show. One can only imagine how re-traumatizing that entire incident was, yet a lot of people my age had no idea this even happened.

WBNS would get their set developed by Devlin Design Group 90s set a year prior in 1994.  The Wolfe's had the money to spend for both stations.

I wish WTHR was still of this format 30 years later, instead of becoming just 13 News (unfortunately, profit is king apparently, so Eyewitness went out the window in 2022).

With news of CBS moving from WANF 46 to WUPA 69, here's a video from back in late 1994 close to the time WAGA, then a CBS affiliate would go to FOX, where they reported on who was planning to take over the affiliation in...channel 69, then WVEU after CBS purchased it, only for then WGNX 46 took over instead. So, ch. 69, after nearly 31 years, ends up getting CBS after all.

Jesus. Blurred or not why would they even air those images? The content could have just been described. News in the 70s and 80s was RAW!

 

History repeats itself. With news of CBS Atlanta leaving Channel 46 and going to Channel 69, here are some news reports of when the CBS affiliation almost went to Ch 69.
