  1. There should be some degree of transparency when these contracts are due to expire, and ample warning if an agreement has not been reached yet.

  2. This is Lori's last and final week on air. Still quite stunning that she is effectively done with Broadcast Journalism. It will be nice to see what kind of tribute will be given to her. I personally will miss her dearly, she really is a class act, honestly I always felt that WABC was the place for Lori she just was a better fit for that station but nonetheless at least she spread her wings a bit and tried something new at WNYW with Good Day New York and Rosanna and of course her ultimate wish, anchoring the primetime 6pm newscast which she achieved. I'm truly happy for Lori she deserves a beautiful retirement especially after all of the hardwork and dedication she has put for all the years she's been on TV. What a career! Good for her she will be missed dearly!

  3. Yeah, there was no warning whatsoever in the final hours, where as other disputes it's public knowledge in the days leading up.

  4. I've been a Dish subscriber for many years but I think I'm about done. IMO Dish is playing with fire here and getting a lot of customers that otherwise may have just stayed customers out of momentum to explore streaming services.

  5. This is a big one... not the least because it's the largest provider that I've seen drop ESPN. This weekend is going to be fun... Morgan Wick, who writes about sports media on Twitter and a blog, has a Twitter thread about this dispute: I think his last tweet hits the mark here:

  11. I guess you could say that. Supposedly (if former sports anchor Laura Behnke’s lawsuit is reliable), Lori Stokes was allegedly asked to…let’s just say, give certain favors to Dave Davis (the GM at the time) in exchange for a better contract. If those allegations are true, that probably contributed to Lori wanting to get the heck out of there.

  15. Does MyNetwork provide any value to any station group outside of Fox Owned? It's pretty useless with repeats you can find elsewhere. Have to admit, I never watch Ch 9 WWOR here. No one I know does.

  16. It's not. I would know. I've only been actively watching WLS for more than 20 years.

  19. For a long time, Marcia Kramer hosted "Sunday Edition." Then when Andrew Kirtzman joined her as the station's second political reporter, her show alternated with "Kirtzman & Co." The shows were later replaced with "Kirtzman & Kramer." Later they had "Eye on New York," which was less political with more feature segments and interviews, and I think it was hosted by Dana Tyler (or possibly a rotating cast of talent?). But it's been a while since CBS 2 had a Sunday morning show other than regular live newscasts.

  20. I keep hoping that they decide to bring that back instead of the 87 version. It's got so much more energy.

  21. I think this will be one to watch. Dish claims that Disney wants a billion dollar increase, but it's been revealed that ESPN is a must-have channel and is one of the few channels remaining that keeps people from cutting the cord. There's a lot of backlash from Dish on social media. Will Dish cave or will this dispute last for months as Dish tries to keep customer's bills low?

  23. I noticed on the guide here in NYC and thought it was interesting that Fox Weather was being carried by WWOR (my9) today from 10am-12pm..not sure if this would be a permanent addition to the lineup or was because of Ian?
