  1. Not a fan of this style of graphics. Just looks ridiculous to me.

  2. I'm anticipating a memorial tribute TOTH ID on Monday (possibly for the week, possible at various points during the day), something filmed to air at the top of the season premiere, and possibly a primetime special, sometime soon. As for a renaming of something, I could see them going the stage route, but unfortunately, it's not that different from the studio dedication, and simply shifting it to the new facility (in whatever form) feels like it cheapens the honor. For better or worse, Bob had zero connection to the new place. I agree that they should do SOMETHING, but I'm just not sure what.

  3. I believe This Week wins the demo, while CBS wins total, but the political roundtable shows are definitely the most competitive and back-and-forth, in the ratings.

  4. This is weird, because it hasn’t been clarified anywhere else at the moment. This is, however, a good plan for the 2 stations, as KOCB could need the refresh, because it’s only using the brand in station IDs for the station (Trust me, I’ve been on trips and I’ve stopped in the OKC area.). KAUT, on the other hand, airs Storage Wars and Pawn Stars in the morning and early afternoon, etc.

  5. My earlier observation carries even more weight now, ‘cause (like with listings for WPNT showing it as the replacement CW outlet in Pittsburgh) listings for both KOCB and KAUT are now showing The CW moving to KAUT and KOCB reverting to an independent (for the first time since it became OKC’s original UPN affiliate in January 1995) on the 1st. If the case, Family Law would be the first CW show to air on KAUT, while KOCB will fill prime time with syndicated shows Monday–Saturday (The Simpsons (double run), Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers weeknights, and Family Feud (double run) and TMZ Weekend Saturdays) and movies on Sundays. KOCB has also changed its Facebook profile pic (and changed the handle from @CWOKC to @KOCBOKC)… Before: After: So, Sinclair will lose some CW affiliations to Nexstar-run stations in markets where they each operate non-Big Four stations under the yet-announced agreement, but be given the affiliation on WPNT to compensate.

  6. So apparently Fox Weather leaves the "hype level" up to the producers of a given show, rather than it being a network-wide decision. As you may know, there's currently a tropical invest located off the Yucatan peninsula that has a high chance of development into a tropical storm/hurricane that could enter the Gulf of Mexico and impact the US mainland around the middle of next week. Today, despite this just being a disturbance in its early stages, and not even a Tropical Depression yet, the 6am-9am ET edition of Fox Weather First turned all of the studio lights red and replaced all Fox Weather First graphics with the network's tropical graphics. Every other show so far today, including the solo-hosted 5am ET hour of Fox Weather First, Weather Command, and America's Weather Center, were all produced using each show's normal graphics, and normal studio lighting colors. Surprised that this type of decision is left up to each show's producers and isn't made at a network-wide level.

  7. Via someone I know, KOCB has changed their logo on Facebook. Could this mean KOCB could go independent? The logo is below.

  8. Amazing to me that This Week performs as well as it does with their sloppy anchor lineup with George, Martha and Jon rotating weeks. Todd just doesn’t have the gravitas to helm MTP, never did. We’ll see if Kristen does.

  9. I'm not suprised there will be comments or a hearing, but I don't see it going anywhere as it is just a dog & pony show. Fox has answered MAD's questions they lied saying that Fox didn't answer their questions they just didn't like the answer that Fox gave.

  10. Very unnecessary it makes the package look like garbage, just use the icons that came with it.

  12. I think that'll be the first time in their history that they'll be cutting anything from their newscast schedule.

  13. Beginning September 11, WBTS/Boston will cut-back its morning news from a 4am start to a 5am start. Early Today will run from 3:30am-5am.

  14. Bryan Norcross is amazing in these clips. He was the link to the outside world for those who couldn't, or refused to, evacuate. Often he was the only link because other Miami FMs, AMs, and TV stations were knocked off the air. But WTVJ stayed on the air. He's to hurricane coverage what James Spann is to tornado coverage. Professional, experienced, and qualified. Soon I will be posting a 48 Hours broadcast from Hurricane Andrew with Dan Rather, but I need to find the tape in storage. Also need to find the 3-4 tapes I have with Price is Right on them now that Bob Barker is no longer with us.

  15. Wondering how TPIR will commemorate this... They've moved from "The Bob Barker Studio", does the new studio get dubbed the same? Do they go the "Bob Barker Stage" route like Jeopardy did? I feel like Fremantle/CBS can't not do something here...

  16. New graphics for NBC's Notre Dame (and I assume B1G) broadcasts. Looks like an evolution of the SNF look. Same font used.

  18. Haley Meier is hosting her first regularly-scheduled show today on Fox Weather Live alongside Michael Estime. Michael gave her a warm welcome to the desk at the top of the hour. For someone who is fresh out of college, she's pretty good at this. If I hadn't read up on her background, I never would have known that she wasn't a broadcast veteran coming from another station.

  19. If watl’ prime time news block is broken up for CW then I could see WPCH adding an hour at 8pm to take advantage of having no competition.

  20. Is it just me or is the use of the icons just tacky and unnecessary.

  21. Only WLS has the full package, and only KABC and KGO are without the weather portion. The other 5, through various hints, are all very close to full rollout. I can't imagine that the east coast trio aren't aiming to have it ready in time for the new 10am shows on the 11th.

  22. Wow, so great to see them starting to implement the new graphics. We'll see if it makes it onto the rest of the news by the Fall book (that would be my guess). Or perhaps when the new 10am debuts. Also, caught this side by side via their website.

  24. Just curious, how do you know that this was a corporate decision? It’s not like they were airing national preseason football last night. To me there’s no reason they couldn’t break into programming on both channels. It happens in Oklahoma, for example, all the time. Just saying.

  25. Nexstar readies new CW Network affiliates in Pittsburgh, Seattle In the Seattle market, a deal is being finalized to bring CW Network programming to KONG (Channel 16), an independent station owned by TEGNA that operates as a duopoly with NBC affiliate KING-TV (Channel 5) Despite not being a full-time independent station, WATL has a slight edge as the Atlanta area’s next CW Network affiliate, because the deal could cover both it and KONG in Seattle. WPCH is also being considered, because its status as an independent station means it can more-easily accommodate CW Network shows by moving around some syndicated programming. But the channel’s distribution in Canada — which dates back to its ownership by Turner, when it was called WTBS (later TBS Superstation) — proves somewhat problematic for Nexstar, in part because the network is relying on older Canadian series to fill some of its prime-time schedule and has secured live sports programming whose rights are held by other broadcasters in the country.

  26. Jeopardy has always been screwed badly timeslot-wise in Central and Mountain Time Zone Markets except for Fox affiliates (i.e. WVUE and WALA) or now KTVT and WDJT. Those of us in the Eastern or Pacific Time Zones are so used to Wheel and Jeopardy being in tandem with each other whether on the same station or separate that it's almost unfathomable to not watch Jeopardy at night over dinner or after it.

  27. And like I've said before, no one is going to type "losangeles9.com" or "sacramento31.com" into their browsers, especially on phones. Short but memorable URLs are key., so those will be what get promoted, even if all they do is redirect to (deep breath) www.cbsnews.com/{cityname}.

  28. WWBT will be adding a 3pm newscast (called First Look at 3) and the new InvestigateTV+ show (replacing The Kelly Clarkson Show) and a 7pm newscast called 12 On Your Side Tonight on September 11th. I wonder the 7pm will be simulcast on sister station WUPV (the station already has a 7pm newscast). https://www.nbc12.com/2023/08/23/wwbt-adding-two-newscasts-sept-11/ That means Entertainment Tonight will be moving to WTVR after decades on WWBT (just saw a promo). It will still be at 7pm, but WTVR will move their 7pm newscast to 7:30. I'm guessing Kelly Clarkson will be moving to WRIC after Dr. Phil ends?

  30. I really do think nothing at all will change at KCAL; it's just something to ward off a domain haggler from grabbing any city/channel name combo CBS has. "Miami33" just seems like a haggler asking an insane price nobody would pay, and it's doubtful anything will change with WBFS, but they bought Florida33 for the same reason. CBS still does have the WLNYTV.com domain for those curious.

  31. We talked about this earlier in this thread. And I said I doubt all those stations are going to those brandings. If that was the case, then that picture above "Primetime Sacramento" we would seen "Sacramento 31", and not "KMAX 31".

  33. KMGH moved Jeopardy from 6:00 to 3:30 in the late 90s sometime after the switch to ABC. It went back to 6:00 in 2006 when Oprah moved to KCNC, though they kept the Jeopardy reruns at 3:30. KMGH got rid of Jeopardy and Wheel shortly after Scripps bought the station and when Scripps was in a big push to get rid of as much syndicated programming as possible.

  34. ET's probably the show staying in primetime, even on WKCF, but at this point it does feel like a long decline for ET's schedule access (Hearst will pre-empt ET on their stations for anything because that late night replay gives them a huge cushion to work with). Unless you're a CBS affiliate you're just over carrying what seems to have become a paid program for Paramount Global properties and an entertainment news org which isn't really trying as much as they did in the past. In the reverse Access will stay on WESH (even post-Seth) solely because it's NBC produced programming on an NBC affiliate. The KTVT show was never evergreen though, and we have nearly 20 years of data to show that the J!/WoF block doesn't damage any newscast or early prime ratings if it's carried at 6pm Central and makes all the other shows more important overall.

  35. It is unusual for the DFW market considering how all the stations treat the 6pm newscasts as almost their flagship evening newscast.

  36. It's unusual but not all that rare. As WDJT & WVUE have aired J!/Wheel on the 6pm/CT hour for years.......

  45. It's been such a pain for the last 7 years that The Weather Channel brand is used by two separate companies. While the TV network technically has its own website, they almost never refer to it because they know people will inadvertently go to IBM's TWC website instead. I kinda wish the tech assets and the TV network could get sold to the same owner and unified again.

  47. TWC had several of their weekday meteorologists in covering the storm over the weekend. Why can't FOX Weather? It's not like they didn't know it was coming. I understand if they had previous obligations and all but they need to do better to cover these big events on weekends. Especially a historic one like Hilary.
