  1. And also, Thur when the nasty storms hit Michigan a few spin up tornados were reported. The power flickered a few times but didn't lose it like a lot did in my area where I lived thankful for that, and was a light show didn't here all that much thunder.

  2. Not that I would watch either show, but neither one of these shows airs here in Los Angeles (it hasn't in the last couple of years), as KTLA's continual news expansion and the late-night lineup of sitcoms, not to mention KDOC going all-religious, displaced Wilkos and Karmano locally. NBCU is better off shopping to the shows to other stations, namely either KCOP or KCAL+.

  4. I doubt he goes to Youngstown unless Eric Wilhelm leaves WFMJ or Paul Wetzl leaves WKBN, both of which are highly unlikely to happen, at least anytime soon IMO. I think he'll go to another Cleveland station. Just depends on who wants to take him.

  5. Not to get off topic too much, but my sister avoided the Dorr tornado by a mile, and my parents avoided the Lansing one by 1/2 mile!

  6. From Wikipedia's page about Skydance: What other chaos? It's mostly been Trump, his pet FCC commissioner Carr, and, before them, Shari Redstone that have caused any chaos.

  7. With those moves, it's more sameness and centralization. Even Cox introduced a centralized package to their ongoing stations. Gray stripping stations of network logos takes out even more, but it's a good preemptive move once the networks start walking away...

  11. I was just thinking about this the other day. Fox launched their last look in 2019, TEGNA even before that. Lots of stale stuff on the air right now. I guess CBS and ABC have the “newest” stuff on air but it’s nothing to write home about.

  13. I'm surprised that WZZM isn't airing local Fever games again this year could put it on one of the subchannels could get better ratings than the diginet does in my opinion. I'd get it if Detroit had a WNBA team that they couldn't air Caitlin Clark's Fever games.

  14. Steve Wilkos will be the last that last for 20+ years those days are over with talkers lasting this long in my opinion. Will not be surprised if Karamo gets renewed as well.

  16. I have had Charter Spectrum since 2000 way better than the cable company formally known as Suckyvision Oh, I mean Cablevision in Kazoo County I was without Wood TV for a full year had to watch it on rabbit ears Jan 97 to Jan 98 didn't get Wood TV back until 2 days before SB32. I didn't see this one coming Charter & COX merger and yeah, I see Spectrum adding Spectrum News to the new footprint, as Spectrum News just launched in Michigan. As I saw it in the lineup on Fri when the power flickered once again after the nasty storms on Thur guessing that the power company was working on something in my opinion. I have watched it for a few minutes more for the weather the top stories was those nasty storms on Thur and St. Louis getting those nasty storms on Fri. I have had no problems with Spectrum either.

  17. When was the last time a station or group actually introduced a new package? That's how stale and boring everything is right now. The industry is stuck in 2019.

  23. Some things of note that may or may not have already been mentioned: The Lightning are joining the Panthers and moving to Scripps Sports next season from Fox Bally FanDuel Sports Network Sun; WXPX is going to shift from Ion to an independent to become its flagship station Something odd I've noticed in Sportsnet's Stanley Cup coverage is that very recently, the network has switched to using a bug of the Rogers logo instead of the Sportsnet logo during Stanley Cup coverage. No other changes to the graphics (which are still primarily branded with Sportsnet logos, with the Hockey Night in Canada brand heavily downplayed despite the CBC simulcasts; the previous graphics package/Stanley Cup logo had a Sportsnet/HNIC co-branding on either side), and all of Sportsnet's other programming/broadcasts still use a Sportsnet bug. The CBC simulcasts also still use a CBC bug.

  24. Shannon Cake's farewell. WPTV spared NO EXPENSE in going all out for her. Even former colleages like Michael Williams, Roxanne Stein, and Jim Sackett all came by to wish her a farewell. 25. Alex Wilson posted on Facebook that she and Mike are alternating weeks and wont be together until some time in June. This is due to severe weather and one of them would be on after Weather Unfiltered for coverage when needed. They're basically in standby mode. The schedules day to day have been crazy. I believe this is due to the simple fact that people are taking time off. With Chris and Jacqui's exit that leaves them a little short so there has been a lot of shifting around when one is off or they just go to a 2 anchor format.

  26. Why don't more utilize an "a-la-carte" packaging option? I mean, Disney kind of does with Hulu/D+/E+, but in my home for example, Peacock is used only for those pesky NFL games they do only streaming for (aside from the Olympics...). Cash grab?

  32. Here's an unusual retirement story that we don't talk about a lot of. Usually, its an anchor, a meteorologist, or a sportscaster who is retiring that we mention around here. However, never usually a pilot... until now. KWTV has announced that their star pilot reporter Jim Gardner (no, not the famous one from 'PVI), who's brought us breaking news, weather, and Tornado coverage from SkyNews 9 over the past 12 years, and has done it as a career for 40 years, is retiring. May 29th will be his final day. https://www.news9.com/story/682bd47ae3b5a8f09ad9d1ce/jim-gardner-retiring-sky-news-9?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_KWTV_-_NEWS_9&fbclid=IwY2xjawKYx85leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETF6c0ZOYU1WSkJQbW5TMTdGAR4j7SubBUSdUBZTkHqxXffqZrpQR_kWajnsKu3A0qGAwYmNVodw-N_WLWzqXw_aem_ilxJ0vhKLfgTZo3XXb54Dg

  33. Or in 47s case, try and flood the room with chaos that has nothing to do with him because it's all about him. Someone remind me...who is Skydance and why should they buy Paramount? This and all of the other chaos is driving CBS/Paramount into the ground faster than Jeff Zucker did with NBC and CNN, combined.

  35. TWC really should have done full coverage of the severe weather from 10pm-2am ET last night, given how horrible the tornado outbreak was, but alas, they did not. Just occasional break-ins with Mike Bettes.

  37. Wanted to give a quick update on what's been happening at TWC ever since the departure of Chris Warren and Jacqui Jeras... and actually some changes that happened slightly before that as well. Starting I believe the week of March 17th, if memory serves correctly, Weather Unfiltered was reduced to a two-person show. Dr. Knabb is the only constant on the show now. On any given night, he hosts the show alongside either Mike Bettes or Alex Wilson, but not both. There doesn't seem to be any noticeable pattern. I've seen Mike and Alex swap from week-to-week or sometimes mid-week. If Dr. Knabb is on vacation, which he is right now, then Mike and Alex will host the show together, as they did this past Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. With that being said, now that neither Mike Bettes nor Alex Wilson are on the network full-time, does anyone know if they're covering the local Allen stations, or if they've simply been cut back to part-time? With all of these cutbacks, the hosts of the 10am-2pm AMHQ and the hosts of the 2pm-6pm TWC Live are now responsible for sliding down the schedule to cover any gaps. It seems that in general, Jen Carfagno stays put on the 10am-2pm AMHQ, but over the past several weeks, Alex Wallace and Dr. Greg Postel have repeatedly been tasked with hosting the 2pm-6pm block if Chris Bruin or Felicia Combs are out. Sometimes there are also double swaps, such as today, with Mike Bettes and Dr. Knabb both out, Felicia Combs slid down to the 6pm-10pm Weather Unfiltered block to cover for them, and Dr. Postel slid down into the 2pm-6pm block to cover for Felicia. On weekends, the any one of the hosts of Weekend Recharge (Paul Goodloe, Molly McCollum, or Lynette Charles) are responsible for covering the 6am-10am America's Weekend Headquarters shift if either Kelly Cass or Reynolds Wolf are out. If that happens, then Weekend Recharge is reduced to a two-person show for the day.
