  1. I wish CNN would go back it’s Roots in Atlanta and back to the hard news format that made it a household name. When CNN moved majority of its shows to NY that was the beginning of the decline. It’s probably wishful thinking, But I would love to hear Live from “The CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta”

  2. I can't compare this to Quibi; this was more like the old guard throwing a temper tantrum they were getting new management and trying to throw them a headache right at the start which was dealt with when Zucker was terminated but his minions remained. You definitely get the feeling that Chris Licht took one look at this and said 'that's done' when he gets into the office. It's more comparable to Seeso, NBC's comedy app which always seemed to be a niche plaything and was never going to do much for NBCU's streaming ambitions, along with NBC Sports Gold and its 10 esoteric sports plans where you had to pay for access to soccer, cycling, rugby and/or NBC Sports Philly debate shows, each separately. It's also still the first month, so however customer service has to deal with it will likely be with pricing credits, which I feel like what will happen with HBO Max involving Discovery+'s yearly subscribers (or a refund for those who authenticate HBO Max with their pay-TV provider). There just isn't much of a base to involve much complication. As for Discovery+, HBO Max has just had major updates which use the native players for Apple/Google/Fire TV and Roku so at least there it'll just be a matter of adding the titles and appropriate D+ verticals, along with updating the Turner cable apps under Discovery's "GO" cable app brand. Compared to two years ago HBOMax is a joy to use now. And another minor thing, Discovery is likely to FINALLY kill Turner's Stretch-o-Vision for what little SD content remains on TNT and TBS.

  3. Oh, glad to see that the former Meredith stations have gone from their clunky, hard-to-use listings service to Titan.

  4. Seinfeld had transitioned to HD masters with new formatting (cropped in some areas, originally unused portions of the film image in other areas) by the time it left TBS.

  5. TBS is airing reruns of old ABC WB sitcoms Family Matters and George Lopez every morning. TNT is airing older episodes of Supernatural and the aforementioned Charmed in the mornings, as well.

  6. I wonder how HBO Max and Discovery+ subscribers will react when the services are merged. We subscribe to Discovery+ as we like so many of Discovery's, HGTV, Food Network etc.'s programming as well as the cheaper price. HBO Max subscribers don't want to pay for more reality/lifestyle programming, and I'm sure Discovery+'s subscribers feel the same way. Some fans are saying "Don't raise HBO Max's price". How much SD content is left on TBS and TNT? Older movies and Charmed reruns?

  7. TV Passport has WSHM airing DailyMailTV at 7:30, a case of obvious filler as that has been axed too. WFSB doesn't need more newscasts. They need a B anchor team to replace the one that became the A team by default. I know Gray can be cheap but this has persisted for way too long.

  9. A 10PM news teaser open & first few minutes of a 10PM newscast from KMTV-TV, Ch. 3 in Omaha, NE, from February 4, 1986. This was about 5 months before the switched networks from NBC to CBS. I found this, recorded in Beta III speed, on a Scotch Beta Tape that I got off of eBay.

  10. Didn't they just hire Jeff Andrews from WAOW a few months ago to be their chief? They seem to go through chiefs (and talent in general) like infants go through diapers. Not to mention, the previous chief, Jason Lindsay, didn't last long in that position either. TG should rent, not buy, once Morris finds out he's not moving the needle.

  11. Glad that he's now permanent as the executive producer. He's done a lot of good things with the show in the short time he's been there.

  12. And now Jeopardy! too has a new executive producer replacing Mike Richards -- Michael Davies, former EP of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

  13. It sad it’s truly a shame black peoples need their own TV networks just like how Hispanics have Univision and Telemundo and in English some younger Latino programming. This isn’t about racial segregation it wasn’t that it is about that blacks have no voice in America. White and Hispanic media don’t cover us well, and we need our views amplified like the former show on BNC. We need our own network owned by black also I firmly believe blacks should own their media, not a white person running it like at BET, which lost its spark a long time ago.

  14. Some changes at WHAS. They've killed their morning brand of "Wake Up" and reverted to "Good Morning Kentuckiana" which is what they were for like 30 years before changing in 2019. They've also returned to two anchor newscasts at 4 and 5:30 pm, something else that was abandoned several years ago. The updated open has also been rolled out.

  15. Licht is an excellent choice. He made CBS This Morning a legit news program worth watching and improved Late Show with Stephen Colbert into a must-watch and genuinely funny late-night talk show. When his tenure goes into effect, I'll definitely watch CNN regularly again.

  17. That was my favorite graphics package too. KGO had something similar by (I believe Hothaus) but instead of yellow, it was a white themed elements. KFMB used the same KGO package as well but only for its opening sequence (2005-2013) https://jonberrydesign.com/kabceyewitnessnews

  19. WKYC has turned What Matters Most from a newscast name into an overall station slogan. The 6pm news tonight was identified as "3News at 6" instead of What Matters Most.

  23. This is like going from MG’s last graphics package (WCMH, WFLA, WKRN) to Nexstar NBC graphics, a package that is the symbol of failure. Great job, Gray.
