We talked about this earlier in this thread. And I said I doubt all those stations are going to those brandings. If that was the case, then that picture above "Primetime Sacramento" we would seen "Sacramento 31", and not "KMAX 31".

No? Not without giving up the 9am. News anchors work normal, 8-ish hour shifts, like most people, but that doesn't mean 8 hours on-air.

That's a better logo than that KMAX box.....

And.....seattle11.com, boston38.com, florida33.com and sacramento31.com. I strongly doubt every station will go with these brandings. "KCAL" (& even "KCAL 9" ftm) is a stronger brand than a generic "Los Angeles 9" or "LA 9". Sad that "california9.com" was already taken.....

I really do think nothing at all will change at KCAL; it's just something to ward off a domain haggler from grabbing any city/channel name combo CBS has. "Miami33" just seems like a haggler asking an insane price nobody would pay, and it's doubtful anything will change with WBFS, but they bought Florida33 for the same reason. CBS still does have the WLNYTV.com domain for those curious.

ET's probably the show staying in primetime, even on WKCF, but at this point it does feel like a long decline for ET's schedule access (Hearst will pre-empt ET on their stations for anything because that late night replay gives them a huge cushion to work with). Unless you're a CBS affiliate you're just over carrying what seems to have become a paid program for Paramount Global properties and an entertainment news org which isn't really trying as much as they did in the past. In the reverse Access will stay on WESH (even post-Seth) solely because it's NBC produced programming on an NBC affiliate. The KTVT show was never evergreen though, and we have nearly 20 years of data to show that the J!/WoF block doesn't damage any newscast or early prime ratings if it's carried at 6pm Central and makes all the other shows more important overall.

I don’t see this happening with the NYC stations. There are still so many profound and noticeable impacts of 9/11 all throughout the city some 22 years ago. We’re a long ways off from it becoming a non-event at least in this region. Also consider that the POTUS, VP, state senators, various other dignitaries attend the events. That alone is going to warrant dedicated coverage.

Jeopardy has always been screwed badly timeslot-wise in Central and Mountain Time Zone Markets except for Fox affiliates (i.e. WVUE and WALA) or now KTVT and WDJT. Those of us in the Eastern or Pacific Time Zones are so used to Wheel and Jeopardy being in tandem with each other whether on the same station or separate that it's almost unfathomable to not watch Jeopardy at night over dinner or after it.

Surprised they didn’t give the morning team the 9am, and the 4pm team the 12noon. That would’ve made more sense.

Ehh, probably not; the likely outcomes in relation to Sinclair/Nexstar would be: * 1) Nexstar cutting a deal that allows it to take over CW affiliations from Sinclair in overlap markets where Nexstar operates a MyNetworkTV or independent station (either directly or via an SSA/LMA/JSA with a third-party like Mission or White Knight, excluding the few markets [such as Little Rock] where it runs a CW affiliate and a MNTV/independent), while letting Sinclair keep its existing CW affiliations elsewhere (avoiding resorting to subchannel-only affiliations on its own stations in other overlap markets, similar to what happened in Sacramento, when Nexstar opted to tack KQCA onto its CW affiliation renewal with Hearst, rather than shift the network to a sub of KTXL; WPNT would play into this scenario by adding it as compensation for losing certain affiliations); * 2) Nexstar reups contracts with all or most of Sinclair’s CW stations (possibly limiting CW affiliation transfers between the two companies to a handful of overlap markets), while adding WPNT under the renewed agreement; * 3) The least-likely scenario (but not entirely out of the question): Nexstar is unable to reach a deal with Sinclair to renew its CW affiliations, forcing the network to move to all company-run stations in overlap markets (including subchannel-only affiliations on Big Four stations in certain areas, the main scenario where a shoehorned D2 affiliation with WNCN would come into play) and having to strike deals with other MNTV/independents or settle for subchannel affiliations in markets where either Nexstar has no properties or another operator runs a separately licensed MNTV/independent.

Not just Hearst. WAXN started replaying it and Inside Edition at 1am and 1:30 every night so now it won’t have to preempt Feud reruns at 8 and 8:30 anymore whenever WSOC preempts them to run various specials. And Capitol demoted ET to 6pm in Raleigh on WRAZ when it added a 7pm news on WRAL and moved Inside Edition to 7:30. But Judge Judy gets 4 runs on WNCN.

That is unusual for a station in the Central time zone. I'm sure, though, that a lot of people will be happy with the two shows on the same channel and an alternative to the news.

And the Sinclair renewal is still in flux with no public announcement. Even if WPNT shows CW on the 1st, until that deal closes it's officially "To Be Announced" for all CW Sinclair stations down the line.

I'll Believe it when I see it. It's a shame that were's just about nine days away before CBS pulling the CW from its stations and Nexstar has yet to announce which stations will get it in the four remaining markets. Including (no one mentioned it yet) Seattle.

KTVT is dropping their 6pm newscast for a block of J! and Wheel.

It's been such a pain for the last 7 years that The Weather Channel brand is used by two separate companies. While the TV network technically has its own website, they almost never refer to it because they know people will inadvertently go to IBM's TWC website instead. I kinda wish the tech assets and the TV network could get sold to the same owner and unified again.

CNN’s website is in desperate need of a clean-up on its programming page… three themes things stick out to me…. No page for CNN This Morning, NewsCentral or The Source. CNN Newsroom’s page still has a picture as Anna Cabrera under anchors. There is still a page for ‘New Day’

For most of us in NY/NJ, the events of 9/11 and the aftermath are as clear today as they were on Sept. 12 2001. Everyone here was impacted one way or another. If we do not know someone who died in the attack, we know someone who does. I do not see any of the Big 3 network O&O's backing off the annual reading of the names anytime soon. Cutting in and out as you suggest, would cause a large number of complaints from survivors on why their loved one's name was not mentioned. That would be very difficult for a PR person from each station to explain, including the family of each station's engineer that died when the towers came down.

I don’t know that I agree with this. Maybe you’re not from New York? But that’s a day that literally happened in our own backyard. It was a day that almost everyone.. if not everyone.. was affected and likely knew someone that died. Do I think the reading of the names will continue forever? No. But as long as it does I do feel the local NY stations will carry it. It’s not like it used to be before the 10 year where there was coverage from early morning to late night with replays of the day of the event, but I don’t think it’ll just stop cold on the main channels.

I could maybe see it for a weather segment (yeah I know, CBS O/O's and Gray), but not the name of a whole newscast.

ABC wanted schedule synergy among the east coast and central time zone stations. Kelly & Mark @ 9:00, local news @ 10:00, The View @ 11:00/10:00 Central, Local News @ Noon/11:00 Central, GMA3 @ 1:00/Noon central, Tamron Hall @ 2:00/1:00 central, and GH @ 3:00/2:00 central.

Well, prime time used to start at 7:30 before it was moved to 8 by the FCC over concerns that the Big 3 had too much power. They later got the 7 pm hour back on Sundays, but by the time the law was repealed for good, syndication companies had been making a mint on that real estate for two decades, and have kept the networks from taking that time back (outside of the few OTA networks that program more or less 24/7 like Ion). TL;DR, it's kinda prime time, but only officially on Sundays, because that's the only day of the week the networks program that hour.

Well isn't 7pm (6pm C/M) is called "Primetime Access"? I don't see that much difference.

Definitely improvement from what the graphics were, but it is very random how the live bar is rounded in the order it is in (left side instead of right) which makes it look out of proportion to the subject bar where breaking news is. Does anyone else find it looks kinda random? Below I have made a concept of how it should look when in proportion which looks much better imo.

I agree with you that it seems silly to make changes and then nearly revert all the way back after a short time. The main reason for this is that there has been a change in leadership again. The new guy wanted to make his mark on everything and had ideas for improvements. He was let go after just over a year and new new management, which was there under the original management, felt like fixing some things in their eyes, including the graphics and schedule again. I think most viewers won't notice this week's graphics adjustments... Many actually probably didn't even notice the big June 1st change since it was overall pretty similar.

I know I already commented on this thread since the graphics update was announced but here are my thoughts on this, sorry in advance if it goes on a rant/tangent. I don't even know what CNN is doing anymore, it's like for some reason people at the network itself seemed to despise the new look in it's original form that they just had to change it so many times, just for it to look the same pre-update. When you update something, the point of the update is to make that something look DIFFERENT. If we went through all this trouble, just to return back to the pre-Licht graphics then why did we even change them in the first place? Almost everyone on here agreed the update, looked fine enough as it was the little things about it that made it good, like the flipper and the moving of the time, but now that that's been removed, we are left with this mix-match look that just feels out of place. CNN needs actual new lower thirds soon but I fear these updates only push that back.

Like what happened in 1988, it's likely that as far as sitcoms/dramas (what few are left), they'll wait to launch those until the strikes are settled; also expect Kelly to launch late, and Tamron and Sherrie to focus on different topics so we're not getting into 'cast members from non-union Tubi movies' territory as far as guests.

Also, that means three out of four of the existing indies (KTXA, WBFS, WSBK and WLNY) will be airing it in primetime as well. Not KCAL, for obvious reasons.

And another distributor is trying to partner with Amazon to bring reruns of Judy Justice to syndication, so they could be competing eventually with the original Judge Judy.

Nice to see court judges come back without Byron Allen producing it. I only wished this new production company gave Mathis and Millian their new shows instead of Byron.

KBCW will be branded as KPIX+ and will launch an 8 and 9pm show. No word if they are adding a 10pm newscast.

I don't think you can draw much from URL purchases. Remember years ago when NBC purchased nbcdenver.com and everyone thought that meant KUSA was going O&O? Those were the days.

Two things can be true at once.

Once again WSB on top with over 50% of the audience share. In Feb 2023 WANF beat WXIA. Meanwhile in 2022 WGCL & WXIA were neck to neck or GCL was beating them. With WXIA ownership imperil it caused their stations to somewhat flat-line.

Despite changes at WSB-TV it still number 1 with still 50% share of the audience. They have 5 anchors for their main afternoon/evening newscast and that big! WSB ship isn't sunk just yet and WAGA has been chasing WSB-TV for years. There a few times WAGA has passed them, but as always WSB-TV rebounds. 46 will pass 11 up no doubt, but 46 needs stability! It can't be the revolving door it has been for the last two decades. WSB-TV been Action News for 50 years or close to it. WXIA has been 11Alive for 4+ decades WGCL/WANF still has their work cut out for them.
