  1. Scripps Sports is expanding yet again, this time with Denver Summit FC, the NWSL franchise for the Mile High City. KMGH and KCDO will carry their non-national broadcasts. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/scripps-sports-becomes-local-tv-home-for-nwsls-denver-summit-fc/
  2. It looks like the CBS World News Roundup Late Edition had its final edition. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=25482782941382313&id=100002318713622
  3. After 11 years in the business, its soon coming to a close for WPBF's Vanessa Vinent. The next 10 or so-ish days will be her last there. https://www.facebook.com/vanessavinentwpbf/posts/pfbid02VUwZShX7ErkDELxkxo3PTvyoFAo27Cci659X8JPmGHKHY6Yfvf67rtpX6fFQprE2l This comes as Jennifer Correa ended her brief two-year tenure at WPTV today and is also leaving the business. Times are changing... One more unrelated note, but also a BIG retirement coming up... KSDK's Mike Bush will be wrapping up a 41-year run... but not until August of 2026. Started in 1985 doing sports, and transitioned to news in 2002, meaning he's done 17 years doing the former and 24 years doing the latter. In the meantime, he'll participate in a few activities, according to the station... KSDK's move to 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive next month. NBC's coverage of yet another Winter Olympics in Italy. Mix that in with NBC's coverage of Super Bowl 60 from Santa Clara. All the winter (currently) and storm seasons that are expected in the region. That's all before he retires in August 2026. Not a bad way to wrap up a legendary run in St. Louis. https://www.ksdk.com/article/about-us/ksdk-legendary-anchor-mike-bush-announces-retirement-date/63-fcb1f5af-82f7-48b3-8359-e5a6977f51c6
  4. For those unaware, yesterday was the PBS Newshour's last program with Newshour West, the West Coast bureau located in Phoenix with ASU (and KAET Arizona PBS), due to all these budget cuts we've been talking about lately. ASU decided not to renew, and therefore, the bureau came to an end. https://www.statepress.com/article/2025/12/politics-pbs-newshour-west-closure
  5. Wooooow. I see that it would move from Channel 33 in Springfield to Channel 23 in Boston, and it would have to give up the CBS affiliation and programming to a WGGB subchannel, since we all know there's only one 'BZ in Boston. It would also mean that WGGB and WSHM (and WFSB by a certain connection) would no longer be connected, though they would remain as sister stations. Let's say this does happen... what are Gray's future plans for WSHM-LD? An introduction of YET another local news department in Beantown? I mean, sure, but it's VERY saturated. WBZ/WSBK, WCVB, WHDH/WLVI, WMUR, WBTS/NECN, WFXT (which itself almost airs news 24 hours a day, both live and repeats!), and that's only in English (we had seven at one point until WBIN gave up too quickly). That's six in total with this possible seventh addition from Gray's WSHM? My oh my. Even if Gray wanted to expand to Boston (my unofficial fourth home market), one... it still wouldn't have a full Bay State presence because you're still missing Providence/New Bedford (my third home market), and that market is already ruined by evil corporations, and two... good luck launching a new news department in a market already oversaturated and still has loyality to either 4, 5 or 7 (or even 9 for those in New Hampshire) since 15 and 25 are still way off in the ratings. This is just my two cents, but it will be very hard for Gray to break through in Boston with WSHM when there's enough loyalty for other stations already in existence for decades.
  6. And here's his final sign off...
  7. Considering their streaming service, HOT 97 TV, is seen in Atlanta on WHOT Channel 66, she'll be returning to Atlanta television in the process as long as she shows up on it.
  8. A major transitional shift is about to happen at KCBD Lubbock. A lot to unpack so stay with me here... Karin McCay, Abner Euresti, and John Robison have been together on air on KCBD for decades, at least since 1983 when John arrived. Beginning in January though, while no one is leaving, part of the team will break up. John, the Chief Meteorologist, is leaving the 5:00, 6:00, 9:00 (KJTV) and 10:00 pm newscasts and instead will transition to their noon and 4:00 pm newscasts Monday-Thursday with Sundays at 9:00 (KJTV) and 10:00 pm. He'll also become Senior Meteorologist. Steve Divine takes over as lead forecaster on weeknights at 5:00, 6:00, 9:00 (KJTV), and 10:00. Finally, Meteorologist Shania Jackson will move to do weekday mornings for Daybreak Today (5-7 am on KCBD, 7-8 am on KJTV) and Good Day Lubbock (8-10 am on KJTV). https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSbPwz5CRXu/?igsh=czZsanR3dGh0ZWRz
  9. Another final sign off because of retirement... KETV's Rob McCartney. Previously known but after 41 years, he signed off from last night's 6pm news.
  10. That's just for the graphics. I think every CBS O&O is switching to that style but keeping the same brandings in place. In this case, its still WBZ News. EDIT: What I mean is the black box logo that some stations still have and I think they're trying to get rid of it once and for all, though stations like KOVR, KDKA, etc. may still go by what they call for already.
  11. Well hold on to that thought for a second... The same thing could've happened to WTAP. Remember when WTAP and WSAZ became commonly owned by Gray in the early 2000s? There was thought that WTAP's news department would shut down in favor of WSAZ's own news but because it was such a revenue-generating machine for that market, Gray elected to keep WTAP with their own news department. If WBBJ's finances are well enough and bring in enough significant dough for the station and for Gray, then don't expect that. WBBJ is the 800-lb gorilla in Jackson, Tenn. since it, honestly speaking, has no competition. They'll be fine.
  12. Too bad they can't stay there because of the continual risk of flooding from hurricanes and other tropical events. Also, I did spot a few folks there, including WINK's Lauren Kriedler! I recognized her instantly.
  13. Brian Holmes has left KTVB after nearly three decades in the industry. However, he will be back for two weeks in February to host The Ozone Show for the station prior to every night's NBC Winter Olympics coverage. https://www.ktvb.com/article/news/local/ktvbs-brian-holmes-embraces-new-chapter-after-unrivaled-local-news-run/277-af791c79-243d-4090-a46b-f7eea4282946
  14. Here is the last newscast for longtime KATU anchor Steve Dunn after a 39-year run at the station. This was aired Tuesday night.
  15. For those who are interested in Dave Ward's funeral coverage from KTRK (information via TitanTV)... This Friday, immediately following the 11 am news, KTRK will air funeral coverage from 11:30 am to 2 pm. Get this, KTRK will not air just their usual 35 minutes of the 10 pm news, but instead, 50(!) minutes worth from 10:45-11:35 pm (CFP Playoffs via ABC is why it's delayed). Other listings sites have it at their usual 10:30-11:05 pm, so just check local listings as they say.
  16. NewsNation is adding another live hour at 11 p.m. plus expand Morning in America on weekends to start at 6 a.m. All of this begins in late January. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/newsnation-expanding-live-news-programming/
  17. They showed his time at WTVJ too where he FIRST began. He has worked for everybody except for 7.
  18. Jennifer Correa recently came back to WPTV after a few months away to focus on her mental health. Now, after 10 years on TV and 8 in South Florida (both Miami and WPB), this week is her last at WPTV and in the industry as a whole. That's another met WPTV is now going to have to find for. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=830670613177589&id=100087039721951
  19. And it will be Katie Pavlich replacing Banfield at 10 p.m. in early 2026 to spew more republican bias into an already low-rated cable news channel. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newsnationnow.com/press/katie-pavlich-joins-newsnation-as-10-p-m-et-primetime-host/amp/
  20. Canada As of this weekend, the last of Global stations' Global 1 helicopters are being grounded for GOOD. These are the final sign offs for those choppers from CITV Edmonton, CICT Calgary, and CHAN Vancouver.
  21. Thank ya, Marvin.
  22. We just lost the greatest anchorman Houston has ever had, and one of the greatest anchormen this country has ever had. He needs no introduction, but in case one is required, former longtime KTRK anchor Dave Ward has died. He was 86 but spent 50 years as Houston's anchorman. RIP Dave. And for one more time, just for you, Dave, from me... Good evening, friend. https://abc13.com/post/dave-wards-life-legacy-newsman-abc13/6127424/
  23. Wow. This does hurt. It gave us 615 Music and eventually took over for Gari.
  24. Another Portland departure coming. Not as long as Jeff Gianola's but still long enough to be recognized. Its KGW's Drew Carney on the Sunrise show. Next Friday is his last before he's off to do mornings with Corey Rose at 9 KUSA in Denver. 25 years in Portland and 19 of them at KGW. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSNiS4piaXS/?igsh=MTJvc255Y2FwdWU3MA==
  25. Longtime legendary WCBS-TV reporter Jennifer McLogan, long recognized for covering the Long Island beat, is stepping back from daily duties at WCBS-TV after 36 years, but is not retiring entirely from the station, staying part-time for 2-3 days a week. Oh, and the McLogan staple will continue... as her daughter Elle is following in her footsteps, covering the Queens beat, and has been there since 2017. She put together the tribute for her own Mama.
