24994J 5621 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Correct me if I'm wrong, but will Rob Elgas pretty much be taking over the 10pm role that Marion Brooks had? Seeing as she now fronts the noon show, it's doesn't seem fair for her to work that late. However, it seems as if he'd be doing more field reporting compared to Marion's contributing role (or doing her best Cheryl Burton impression, as I like to call it).

In a sense, yes, he will likely take over Marion's contributing role @ 10PM. But, reportedly, Lauren Jiggetts will also have a prominent role @ 10PM too. That said, this would suggest that some content/presentation adjustments are on tap @ NBC 5 starting next week (at least on the 10PM newscast).
News24/7 3 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Here's a quick music concepts video I slapped together a few months ago for KNTV. Seeing as WMAQ appears to have a similar image. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zX_N9aH_OY&feature=g-upl&context=G29ee313AUAAAAAAABAA

Chicago News Boy 34 Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Still in the tower. Come on! Telemundo (attached to nbc tower newsroom) only updated a little bit of their set and got new gfx their weather center is cool but nothing else fancy! And yes i watched a bunch of jibberish just to see their new gfx/set. Good gfx however!
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 You mean Studio 5... I watched Telemundo too just to see if I could see anything as well. Thats how I found out they were going HD. They actually upgrades their set a lot from the left side all the way to where En Contexto was at. I don't think we are going to see anything at NBC 5 until Monday. And if not Monday then who knows at this point!
24994J 5621 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 New copyright thing at the end Like...?
15connects 4 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Well they took off the blue background thing, but nothing major. So just text with no background...but, it didn't use din (as the previous one did).
Chicago News Boy 34 Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Yes i meant studio 5. My apologies. And yes but the main desk at telemundo they didnt do too much with but their weather center looks cool for such a small set
jake1478 0 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 If the new graphics premiere on Monday, do you guys predict they will debut in the morning or at 10PM?
TennTV1983 807 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 If the new graphics premiere on Monday, do you guys predict they will debut in the morning or at 10PM? Why not at Noon or 4PM?
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 My guess would be at 4:30pm when Rob joins Marion. They have typically changed graphics (and went HD) during the 4:30pm newscast. Although they could also not do it until 10pm. I'm really hoping Monday is the day. Tired of waiting! Ha!
Chicago News Boy 34 Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 If they do debut them monday, my guess would be the 4:30 pm newscast
24994J 5621 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I'm DVRing 4:30am, noon, 4:30pm and 10pm just to cover all bases.
newsmusicfan 13 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I saw someone say something about news music. I did a resync with some themes using Look F.
Jess 1116 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I'd use other NBC O&Os as an example, but they've varied in their launch times. KXAS launched on a Saturday, KNTV launched on a Sunday night, KNBC went on a Monday morning, and WCAU adopted their version at 6AM, Super Bowl Sunday. And at least on WCAU, there was no leadup save for some tweets and new weather graphics launched the night before (which kind of clued me in that Sunday morning was the launch). DVRing all the news timeslots is probably the best move.
Jase 1065 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 If the new graphics premiere on Monday, do you guys predict they will debut in the morning or at 10PM? Weekends (Sundays) have normally been the time that they have unveiled new graphics/sets in the past. Studio 5 was revealed on a weekend too. But, given the anchor changes that are happening tomorrow, my guess would be tomorrow for everything (graphics/set) at 4:30AM.
24994J 5621 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 All this talk of launch times has me wondering... Do many stations launch sets and graphics on the weekends because the lower viewership gives the opportunity to get out any kinks before Monday? That's the only good reason I can think of.

WZTV did that recently when they launched HD newscasts last year.

I believe it allows for them to work the kinks out more than anything else. Plus, when your station airs a big weekend event (Super Bowl), there's really no better time to launch new graphics/sets.
Chicago News Boy 34 Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 I would laugh if they just got like new chairs or paint or a new logo.. Lolol just something little and dumb and it took a month to do. It just sounds like nbcs ways. Hopefully its a total overhaul though. If so, i would be quite impressed with nbc 5.
