rkolsen 1686 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Looks like WNBC is getting their own radar...   Thinking we need to start a list with all the NBC stations that have gotten new radars.  Also maybe we should buy stock in EEC.
ToriElectra 292 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Boo! Bring back Doppler 4000! Isn't Doppler 4000 still on top of 30 Rock? Why did they even stop using it? Considering how they hyped it up with a promo with music by Edd Kalehoff (of course) that went on for like, a decade?
anchorman 96 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Stacey Bell may be leaving (again) as quickly as she came in (again.) Her husband was just hired as the head coach of the San Diego--errr--Los Angeles Chargers.
JoseRM303 171 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Stacey Bell may be leaving (again) as quickly as she came in (again.) Her husband was just hired as the head coach of the San Diego--errr--Los Angeles Chargers. Â I'd be cautious if I were her. Didn't she leave the first time because her husband got a job in Buffalo that didn't really pan out?
anchorman 96 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I'd be cautious if I were her. Didn't she leave the first time because her husband got a job in Buffalo that didn't really pan out? Â Sort of, yes. He probably could have stayed and gotten the top job in Buffalo for next season (he was interim head coach), but the Chargers probably offered a better deal. However I don't see Stacey participating in a bi-coastal marriage, simply based on her past actions. She left a good anchor job in Cleveland when her husband left the Browns for the Jets, and that's how she ended up in NY news. When her husband got the job in Buffalo, she left to head up there.
B2r4a6n 103 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Stacey just said on twitter that she will be staying at wnbc...
AA55 40 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 fantastic news. She mentioned last night after Bruce's sports segment that she would be "racking up a ton of frequent flyer miles" which made me think she was going to in fact stay. Very good news. Love her!
NowBergen 702 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I suspect that when she returned to WNBC last year, Anthony Lynn and she made an arrangement about her career, which continues with his LAC hire. In the bigger picture of things, her role is more stable than his the way the NFL churns through head coaches (win or else). No matter the private discussions she has had, glad she will be staying (though I suspect on a shortened work week during the season (probably off Monday's due to the time change).
anchorman 96 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Hopefully the bi-coastal relationship works out. If it becomes strained over time, Stacey could leave or take a reduced role. I hope not, as she's one of the best talents they have. Â And absolutely true given the instability of NFL HC's and now the Chargers franchise, its smart for Stacey to at least keep her job in NYC for the time being.
rkolsen 1686 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Thought I'd cross post this. Â Not quite the Doppler 4000 promo but would this count as throwing shade? Â
rkolsen 1686 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 i wonder where the radar is located? Â It's on the Rutgers campus. Â http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/StormTracker-4-The-Most-Powerful-Radar-in-New-York-405036715.html
NowBergen 702 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 It's on the Rutgers campus. http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/StormTracker-4-The-Most-Powerful-Radar-in-New-York-405036715.html  They have been very clear it is at Rutgers (I suspect the Piscataway side) since being activated Monday. I would expect Rutgers gets to use it too.
ToriElectra 292 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 And on a related note: where the heck does the Fox 5 Sky Guardian radar originate from? Given the location on the map, it looks to be somewhere around Bridgewater, but I can't find it. Anybody know?

I would expect Rutgers gets to use it too. Â They lease the land from Rutgers but part of the deal is that Rutgers students get access to the data and are able to use it for the university newscasts. Â Part of the reason Rutgers was selected was because of its meteorology program and proximity to Manhattan.

AA55 40 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 How did 4 New York do in the ratings? Obviously, Eyewitness News is number 1...but I do have to say WNBC's news product has increased in quality in past year.
IceManNYR 240 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Would be nice if WNBC could put the school closings in the unused news scroll area instead of having to make the video smaller.
24994J 5630 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Would be nice if WNBC could put the school closings in the unused news scroll area instead of having to make the video smaller. It could be worse... Â
NowBergen 702 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Watching the 6 pm and it looks fine. They need the wider width to provide counties and status. A better look than other stations. Easier to read than a crawl. 2
CircleSeven 1960 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 FTVLive posted that WJLA's morning anchor Jummy Olabanji, will be the new weekend evening anchor at WNBC. Â Her last day at WJLA will be on April 21st, and will start at Channel 4 on the 26th. 1
