rkolsen 1688 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 He nearly cracked his head open falling on some ice. He's been down with a concussion for a few weeks, but should be back pretty quick. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wabc-anchor-coming-back-from-concussion/184763 Jesus. He's incredibly lucky.

IceManNYR 240 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Appears that WABC is having some issues for the 4pm newscast. They are doing it from a smaller studio space possibly the newsroom with only one wide camera.
24994J 5636 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Because they insist on using such tight shots of the 2 anchors in the main studio, this really doesn't look too bad though the sound isn't good. I wonder if they aren't able to change the background video loop to the studio skyline image. If they were to change it, you almost wouldn't be able to tell they're in the newsroom, at first glance.

wabceyewitness 828 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I wonder what's going on? Issues or maybe slight updates? It's tech issues in the studio, according to Tweets from anchors and producers, no updates being made.
Vlad 336 Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Yeah at first I thought they were in a new studio, but then I immediately realized it was just the newsroom small set that they do the updates from lol. Last time this was done was back when they had that fire years ago. Interestingly enough, I did see a report today during the Noon broadcast from Sandy Kenyon, he reported from the newsroom which hasn't been done in ages since where the anchors are sitting is usually where the reports are done. They did some updates to the news room with a large "Eyewitness News" long form logo appearing in the back of him and some updates too. I thought it was a nice sight to see, hopefully they use shots from there more often. This obviously means that the West 66th Street Side studio is inoperable or they probably have the blinds down so no one can see inside haha.

wabceyewitness 828 Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Where did Weather originate from? Newsroom weather center.

They've actually used that a couple times over the past few weeks.. from what I saw once with Jim Hoffer and once with Ryan Field.. I like it much better than when they sit in front of the screen.. especially for breaking news.. I don't know what it is but I just do..

Eat News 4745 Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Looks newsier... It's also chocked full of yummy vitamins and minerals for a healthy body...and a happy mind. (I cannot explain myself, so please don't ask.) 1
brianpr3 178 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 yes according to The Freeze's instagram story it smells bad in there?
anthonyz 26 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Sad that the OTS live shots have better audio than the newsroom.
Vlad 336 Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Looks like they've finally returned back to the street side main studio for the 11:00pm broadcast. Guess they've worked out all of the kinks!
nynewslover 280 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 They're back in the newsroom for the 6:00.. they were on the set for 4&5.. only thing I saw that happened was the virtual graphics failed on one of the weather hits.. wonder what happened
wabceyewitness 828 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 They were back in the main studio by Sunday night.. but more tech problems this evening forcing the 6pm to relocate to the newsroom again.
IceManNYR 240 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 They are in the newsroom again this am. I noticed the other day when they showed the studio from the camera across the street the 66th street side of the sidewalk was covered up and it appeared some construction was going on.
MetroCity 248 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 There was a manhole fire adjacent to studio side of the building at the end of last week. It damaged some underground wiring and sent smoke and nasty fumes into the studio. Airing out, cleaning up, checking electronics probably takes a while. 1
nynewslover 280 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I'm going to assume repairs from the manhole fire take place between 6pm and end sometime after the morning news starts.. once again they were in the studio for the 4&5 but are in the newsroom for the 6
wabceyewitness 828 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 You would think after all this time in the newsroom, they would swap out the horrid animated ABC7 blue background on the screens to something a bit more stationary like a skyline backdrop similar to the studio.
rkolsen 1688 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I'm watching their broadcast stream and are they only using one camera in the newsroom?
A3N 1002 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Why couldn't they use the Live with Kelly studio? Is that affected as well?
