AlNYTVRadio 21 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Here is what I mean about the new open at 6PM. From my phone I recorded the new 6PM open, different from the original one. Mine: Before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQbuOFMA3IU

Mine: Before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQbuOFMA3IU For the next few weeks, I think the newer version is better. They can switch to the night shot in November/at the time change.
Geoffrey 873 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 CBS 2 updated the 6:00 open (I think the change happened today) to use three new evening shots of the city now that Daylight Saving Time has ended and the sun sets before 5. This is now the third open for the 6:00 since the new graphics debuted in late September. The backdrop has also been changed to the evening skyline. The 5:00 still uses the sunset.
BehindNYNews 147 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 They also were doing holiday promo shoots today.
BehindNYNews 147 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 The Holiday Promos have begun to air today.
IceManNYR 240 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 WCBS moved the NFL Today to WLNY as they continue coverage of the MTA train derailment.
IceManNYR 240 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Noticed the WCBS anchor and reporter lower thirds they are now using @LastNameWCBSWLNY
mountainave 606 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Noticed the WCBS anchor and reporter lower thirds they are now using @LastNameWCBSWLNY Yeah. What a waste of eight characters in the Twitter handle. Looks ridiculous.
AlNYTVRadio 21 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah, I saw too; and yes, it doesn't look that pretty! A little simpler than that and would look alright (better than WCBSWLNY): @LastNameCBSNY
IceManNYR 240 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Katie Fehlinger from CBS Philly is subbing for John doing weather on WCBS and WLNY am shows. I believe Vanessa went on maternity leave.
TVNewsLover 785 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Katie Fehlinger from CBS Philly is subbing for John doing weather on WCBS and WLNY am shows. I believe Vanessa went on maternity leave. Wonder who did the am shows in Philly, as Katie is the am weather person at KYW/CBS3.
AlNYTVRadio 21 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah, watching the noon show and she's on it. Remember her from the old AccuWeather days. Maybe today she went to WCBS for the morning and noon, and will drive back to Philly for the 5, 6, and 11? I think that's when she is on at KYW.

KYW has three weekday weather people, so maybe one of the others filled in. Btw they have three weekday people bc of WCBS. WCBS had Katie originally and when they got a new person they bumped Katie to Philly.

CBS 2 had to find a replacement after Katie went to Philly (because Kathy Orr was cutting her workload).
NYNewsCoverage 308 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Is it just my computer or is WCBS the only station in NY that does not stream their newscasts online? I mean, they do have 2 live streams, but it always says "live stream is unavailable" during all of their newscasts. Here are the links to the livestreams. newyork.cbslocal.com/live-video/ newyork.cbslocal.com/live-video-two/

The live feed is virtually non-existent, except for during breaking news n' stuff.
NYNewsCoverage 308 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 John Marshall was subbing for Vanessa today. I can see him being a member of the weather team until Vanessa comes back.
anchorman 96 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Dick Brennan and Alice Gainer are a fantastic team and did awesome filling in at 5,6, and 11 this week.
NYNewsCoverage 308 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I completely agree with you. I watch them often on the news at 9, and they have excellent chemistry. In the beginning i'll admit I wasn't crazy about the idea of pairing them together, but they seem to get along really well. Now I almost like them better than Kristine and Maurice.
anchorman 96 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 John Marshall is back at WCBS for a few months covering Vanessa.

The live feed is virtually non-existent, except for during breaking news n' stuff. WFOR livestreams all of their newscasts on the weekdays the 5 - 7a, the noon, the 5, 6 & 11p shows although the reception is cruddy. I believe they are the only ones who actually does.
TellyGenic 33 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 John Marshall is back at WCBS for a few months covering Vanessa. Hooray! Welcome back John - you've been missed.
NYNewsCoverage 308 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 According to his twitter account, Lonnie Quinn was called back early from his vacation so he can be back tomorrow night at 11:00. Just asking, do you think his sleeves will be rolled up? I'm not sure on this one. Also I have to give credit to Elise Finch. She's been working around the clock from morning to night covering the snow and cold temps. 2

nynewslover 279 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Yeah, I don't quite get that. I'd just as rather get it from Elise or even John Marshall over Lonnie. Then they wouldn't be able to use them for mobile2!
