HanSolo 198 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I happened to like having it on then based on my personal schedule. Sure it got truncated or bumped for sports semi-regularly, but it was a convenient time for some of us. There is ABC sports starting at 12:30 the next few weeks, but rather than the 1/2 hour version they used to run ahead of NBA Countdown, it’s informercials on the schedule. Oh well. 1
FJ2000 5 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) I'm more surprised that they dumped the Sunday noon show. I mainly thought that show was there so they could have live countdown-to-kickoff coverage of Eagles game days. They used to have Sports Director Gary Papa live at the Linc and other tailgating coverage, but that was back in the day. For those not up to see the weekday morning shows since the schedule change, Action News Mornings has started at 4am for special coverage a few times, and Matt Pellman anchors the weather segment for the 4:30am half hour. Karen Rogers (or Payton Domschke when she fills in) does not come on until 5am. Edited March 4 by FJ2000 1
HanSolo 198 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 My schedule means the 4:30 is the portion I watch, and Pellman does fine with that weather segment. Seems a good way to handle it. 1

HanSolo 198 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 They definitely didn’t. After populating the advance schedule with specific infomercials—by name, not just paid programming — for multiple weeks, it reverted back. Good for them. 1 1
Flyer78 66 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Did they change the open to "Philadelphia's Leading News Program" -- not sure if this changed with the new Spring intro, but definitely something I noticed yesterday, at least at 5PM. 1 1
HanSolo 198 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I don't think it was with the spring intro a week or so ago. It noticed it on the 5 am news today, but didn't watch yesterday in the evening or night. The VO sounded ever so slightly different with the "Action News..." beginning - just a rerecording with the Philadelphia vs Delaware Valley. Eh, whatever. 1
Action Newsroom 1311 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 It's the definition of "acquired taste", that's for certain. It's really gonna take getting used to. 4

HanSolo 198 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Because they wanted to? Maybe they feel Philadelphia has a stronger name ID. It’s entirely reasonable to reevaluate longtime practices and make changes in some cases, and stay stays quo in others. The visual in the open includes Philadelphia, so there’s some consistency there, along with other stations going with the city as a reference point. 1
Flyer78 66 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 The other change that seemed to go with this are "full" intros at the 6 and 11. In the grand scheme of things, certainly not the biggest of deals. Really, was more of a "oh weird" when hearing it in the background. At least the classic intro style is still in place. 2
HanSolo 198 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Did they stop the full intro at 6 previously? Huh. Didn’t realize that. I knew the 11 was long a super short version, but could have sworn that they did everyone’s name with the full intro at 6. 6:30 is a short one on the streaming side. 2
Flyer78 66 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 For some reason I thought the 6 had the same short loop, but perhaps that was just a memory from a one-off before on a busy day. I don't usually catch the opens -- and it was in the background when I first heard the switch to Philadelphia; so you may be right. 1
24994J 5653 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Last Friday's 6 had the full open, before the script change. I really think only the 11 had been shortened, of those two shows. 2

MD TV 284 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Move Closer To Your World got an official release for the first time ever last week: https://bucksco.today/2025/04/6abc-theme-move-closer-to-your-world/ (that article cites this article which might be paywalled: https://www.inquirer.com/arts/6abc-theme-move-closer-to-your-world-release-20250412.html ) 2 2
HanSolo 198 Posted yesterday at 01:02 PM Posted yesterday at 01:02 PM Changes coming to the morning newscasts. Tamala Edwards moving to 10 am After 20 years of the dawn patrol, and overnights on ABC before that, sleeping in will probably be a welcome change. 1

Could do like the morning program and have one person stand off to the side, but in this instance Karen standing would make the most sense. 1

SF1964 68 Posted yesterday at 06:05 PM Posted yesterday at 06:05 PM I wonder when/if Jessica Kartalija will anchor a newscast. I don't know if it's her decision, the station's decision, or there's some kind of non-compete clause at play. There's been plenty of times she could have filled in here and there. 1
