24994J 5654 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Is it perhaps a little uninspired? Probably. However, I found their last look to be very dated by the 4th quarter of Super Bowl XLVII, so anything a little more modern and different is welcomed.
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 To me it sorta looks like the original CBS SPORTS 'Ticket' Logo I was thinking the same thing (and said as much on a couple of other sites).
Weeters 1972 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Is it perhaps a little uninspired? Probably. "Uninspired" describes pretty much everything CBS has done for their network news graphics for the past decade at least. It's not surprising that the network that thought was network quality would adopt something plain and relatively boring for their sports division. Not to say I don't like it... I think it's a very well done design. But it's bland enough it doesn't really stick out when out up against other sports network graphics packages.

I think they are just taking the safe route - as they do with almost everything they touch.
A3N 1002 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Yuck. Very bland to say the least. Looks like they took some design cue's from FOX Sports' graphics...
WCAUTVNBC10 415 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Of all the fonts they could have picked, they thought DIN was a good idea?
Journalist 894 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Blue gradient graphic with an uninspiring DIN fonttype. Sports divisions are really nailing the 'modern design' thing to home. >_> Another thing, Sinclair is that you?

Frank is a great font for broadcast and the matte elements of the package as well as their animations are subtle and easy on the eyes and don't take away from their purpose of conveying information.
Action Newsroom 1311 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 In three words: Basic. Blue. Boring. Although I kinda change my mind a bit on the logo. I now agree with those who say it's an improvement, especially when looking at the CBSSN logo. The placement somehow gives off a positive reaction in me.
lugnuts6 91 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Here's my version of the famed CBS SPORTS Ticket logo [with friends]
Georgie56 3333 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 NFL on CBS got a new logo on their Twitter. I won't be surprised if they start calling it "CBS NFL" now like Fox is doing.
Geoffrey 876 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Got a glimpse of the new graphics at 11 a.m. during a The Super Bowl Today Update. And I think every half hour until live coverage starts at 2. Reminds me a lot of Fox Sports' look. Unoriginal.
Viper550 292 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Looks like a cross between ESPN's boxy look and Fox's colorfulness. With a side of CBC's old graphics (well, old as in, before they randomly changed the fonts to light Gotham and gold instead of blue)

And I think every half hour until live coverage starts at 2. They also did those updates in their last Super Bowl, XLVII. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if we see these graphics on college basketball and golf next weekend.
Georgie56 3333 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Watching The Super Bowl Today. Not only are we getting new graphics, we also get a remix of Posthumous Zone.
Mrtraveler01 739 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Watching The Super Bowl Today. Not only are we getting new graphics, we also get a remix of Posthumous Zone. I noticed that too. Not sure what I think of it yet.
24994J 5654 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I wouldn't be surprised if it's specific to either the Super Bowl/playoffs, the NFL Today pregame, or maybe both.

Journalist 894 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 The new theme is exclusive to Super Bowl 50 only. The remix was by a local Bay Area composer, supposedly.
Georgie56 3333 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 The new theme is exclusive to Super Bowl 50 only. The remix was by a local Bay Area composer, supposedly. Carlos Santana. Yes, that Carlos Santana.
Viper550 292 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Looks like we're doing the top-right bug like Fox and NBC too. (presumably it'll be that CBS NFL logo in regular season, but it's the eye/SB50 logo one from earlier) I'm beginning to project a top-left scoreboard, or maybe even bottom-left (could a bottom-left scoreboard work for football? It didn't look too bad for baseball Overall, although it seems to rip pages from Fox, ESPN, and Gannett, the entire scheme as a whole has a very geometric feel
TheRolyPoly 2622 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 It also reminds me of ESPN's scorebar, since its at the bottom. For decades I believe, CBS' scorebar was always at the top. Now... the bottom.
Jess 1116 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I hate how we have two CBS eyes on screen. Same way I hate NBC's current NFL package with its two peacocks. You only need the logo in one place.
