The slow drip continues. He’ll continue on March Madness for CBS/TNT Sports.

WAVE Louisville will soon have to give up local coverage of the Kentucky Oaks because next year, for the first time ever, its going national, in primetime, on NBC.

I think they'll continue with coverage leading up to the race & honestly, this might be better for them in terms of coverage of the actual Oaks race because I think when it was on USA/Peacock, any races that aired there, was exclusively live to them & WAVE3 aired the races on a slight tape delay.

Then why did NBC get rid of NBCSN in 2021 to bring it back from the dead maybe because of the NBA rights deal. Why not just use USA wasn't that why they shutdown NBCSN in 2021?

USA is among the channels that will be spun off to Versant. If anything, in my opinion, NBCU should just reconsider keeping Golf Channel and making it into an all sports network.

NASCAR -- one of the few remaining properties to have used the 2015 graphics -- has a new look. Given NBC Sports was the producer of Amazon's NASCAR coverage earlier, the new graphics are largely a variant of them with different fonts (although the Prime version, aside from the use of the bold italic font from the TNF graphics, actually looks more NBC-ish by using the fonts from the Sunday Night Football/CFB graphics)

It looks a modded version of the RSN look is going to be the generic graphical look for NBC Sports going forward. This was seen during their coverage of the Track & Field Nationals on Sunday:

NBCSN is coming back after a nearly 4-year hiatus.

I had a feeling this was happening; Spectrum just launched a 4K feed of NBC Sports events for their Xumo platform on their app (though no NFL right now), so it was just a matter of when they'd do so everywhere else before the Versant split. And this will make putting on games in bars a whole lot easier than having to deal with an access broker like you have to for ESPN streaming-only events and Sunday Ticket.

Gifted link here. The revived NBCSN launches Monday:

https://www.wsj.com/business/media/nbcu-new-sports-channel-76ece6e7?st=BEJeQf&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

edit: As part of the press release, it says that it is expected to include MLB games in a soon to be announced contract (apparently the former ESPN package which includes Sunday Night and Wild Card games but not the Netflix-bound Home Run Derby):

And one more bit of news. USA Network has a deal with the new Pac-12, which includes 22 football games a year, 50 men's basketball games a year, the men's basketball tournament and 5-10 womens' basketball games a year:

Is this new NBCSN the first-ever network to launch on a streaming TV provider (YouTube TV) before it expands to cable and satellite (Xfinity, Spectrum, etc.)?

The logo included in the release is familiar but if you have a sharp enough eye, it's actually quite different from the previous iteration. Obviously the Peacock is now the 2023 incarnation but the lettering has been shrunken a bit to match the style of the main network logo and the font itself is now NBC Tinker (the previous version used Gotham).

NBCSN is up and running. Looking at the first 24 hours it's mostly shows that are on NBC Sports' FAST channel, with the only unique content tonight being the Milwaukee Bucks-Cleveland Cavaliers game.

With the Versant spin-off and other things happening, there appear to have been some slight font changes on NBC/USA broadcasts still using pre-2024 graphics, largely replacing the previous fonts from the 2015 graphics with a more generic sans-serif. This has been most apparent on motorcross, Notre Dame hockey, and Golf Channel (which is still using the graphics they used before, but with a different font, and their previous "G" emblem making a return)

Per Andrew Marchand from The Athletic, former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is joining NBC and Football Night in America.
