Rusty Muck 4405 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Fred did wonders during the "glory days" of WUSA....(when WJLA was running circles around them) If he leaves WOIO, will his severance pay be whatever the vending machine owes him? 2
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 WKYC easily can slide into a solid 2nd place and make serious gains at the expense of WEWS. Should WOIO rise to third place, it will be due to inertia. Wait, isn't WKYC already second in most timeslots? And WEWS has generally traded third or fourth with WOIO until recently. 1
Rusty Muck 4405 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Wait, isn't WKYC already second in most timeslots? And WEWS has generally traded third or fourth with WOIO until recently. Yeah, I meant expanding on their second place position. They'll effectively own 11. Which is pretty remarkable considering that WKYC has no news at 4 and 5, and their noon timeslot has a heavily sponsored infotainment show instead of a traditional newscast.
CLETVFan 368 Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Yeah, I meant expanding on their second place position. They'll effectively own 11. Which is pretty remarkable considering that WKYC has no news at 4 and 5, and their noon timeslot has a heavily sponsored infotainment show instead of a traditional newscast. If there comes a time when WKYC adds a 5pm newscast and/or WJW adding an 11pm newscast, WEWS or WOIO will have to find ways to keep up or see their ratings get worse. WJW and WKYC both easily own Cleveland television news. Jym Ganahl now in semi-retirement from WCMH in Columbus. Speaking of WCMH, former anchor/investigative reporter Duane Pohlman has resurfaced at WKRC in Cincinnati for similar duties, only he's co-anchoring on weekends instead of weekdays. http://wvxu.org/post/wkrc-tv-hires-anchorinvestigative-reporter#stream/0 Dick Goddard recovering from surgery he had after he fell. He should be back on WJW soon, but going back and forth on appearing at the Woollybear Festival this weekend. http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2016/09/dick_goddard_recovering_at_a_rehabilitaton_center.html#incart_river_index 1

tw-804 194 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Remember Charlo Green, the reporter who quit her job on the air a few years ago at Anchorage's KTVA with the words "F**k it, I quit" and owns a cannabis club? Well... she could face up to 50+ years in prison. rkolsen 1686 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Adam May is returning to weekend news in Baltimore. He will now be coanchoring WBAL's 6, 10 and 11 PM newscasts in addition to reporting during the week. This is the second anchor/reporter hire they've made in a month that (so far) doesn't appear to be replacing anybody. After Al Jazeera America folded he's been freelancing for CBS Newspath. I'm sure he could have gotten a job in a bigger market if he wanted too. Baltimore seems to me be like a stepping stone market if your young and single but you don't see many people who set down roots here with families leave (or if they do it's to DC). 1
ns8401 957 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Ronnie Dahl is leaving WXYZ to work for the ATF. She came over from WJBK in 2013.

I heard he is looking for a nice little row house... In a nice neighborhood. 3
MidwestTV 1246 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Robb Finnerty is leaving KCTV after only a year. Unknown where he's headed to next. That's their second weekday morning male co-anchor in about 3 years. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/rob-finnerty-leaving-kctv-after-a-year/179359 1

n925tv 143 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Apparently Chris Murphy is coming back to San Diego as an anchor at KSWB. Not sure what slot he is filling. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/on-the-move-92016/178380?utm_medium=newsletter&utm_source=tvspy&utm_campaign=dailynewsletter20160920 Kristina Audencial posted that Chris will be her new co-anchor on the morning show. Raoul and Shally aren't going anywhere, so my only guess is that Fox 5 is doing split anchors on their morning show. They're shooting promos today, I'll see if more info comes out. 1

Disappointing that they have not given Heather Lake a permanent spot on the desk. She's put in her dues all these years, and she keeps getting passed up. Not to take away anything from Kristina-whom does a good job at the desk, but I would have given Heather and even Abby Gibb a spot on the desk before her. 2

NewsMaster 226 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 WOLF looks to sever ties with WBRE and start its own 10pm news department... About time. Scranton / Wilkes-Barre is the largest market with only two news departments ever since WYOU shut theirs down in 2009. That title would become held by Syracuse if this happens. Interesting M&A on Wednesday: it appears Price Hill Television is selling low-powered NBC affil WRDE in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (and serving Salisbury, Maryland) to SagamoreHill. EDIT: It's not an M&A. Apparently Price Hill and SagamoreHill are the same company; near the bottom it reads: "THE OWNERSHIP OF PRICE HILL TELEVISION, LLC AND SAGAMOREHILL OF SALISBURY LICENSEES, LLC IS IDENTICAL." Sorry for the false alarm. 1

I'm guessing Raoul and Shally will do from 6-10am I've been waiting for them to do this, since this is similar to KTLA. I wonder why only until 6 and not until 7. Also, I wonder if Brad will do weather from 430-6?
