As much as the anti-vaccine crowd will be cheering, that would be a violation of the non-compete? That means WLOX and Gray Television have a case for a lawsuit? She must have a very weak contract, and it may not have had a non-compete provision in it. WLOX was basically the only news game in the Biloxi-Gulfport market until 2013, when WXXV finally re-started a full-time challenge to them. For comparison, when Alan Sealls jumped from WKRG to WPMI, the off air period from the time he left WKRG and re-appeared on WPMI was only about 6 months.

I wonder whether Gray is enforcing the Non Competes for those they let go for not getting vaccinated.
cg41386 132 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Meteorologist Casey Lehecka is leaving WAVY this Thursday after being unable to come to an agreement on a more workable/convenient schedule.
tyrannical bastard 4033 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 (edited) Regardless of the circumstances, Morris is picking up released talent left and right. Dave Staley, the longtime sports director of WTVC in Chattanooga who was let go in the Sinclair budget cuts, is now at WDEF as a reporter/anchor and it looks like he's been there since July. These vaccine mandates (and economic hardship by his former employer in this case) probably play a role in diminishing the more restrictive covenants of one's contract. TheRob 938 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 This will vary state to state, but if refusing a vaccine mandate means being fired, as opposed to leaving on your own free will, a non-compete can be discarded. A few states have also made non-competes illegal anyway. 3

JoseRM303 171 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Couple of updates out of Charlotte and WCNC: Sarah French who has been filling in on the morning newscasts has been officially named co-anchor of the weekday morning and midday newscasts. Carolyn Bruck who had been out on leave the past several months returns to the station today but this time as co-anchor of the 4 pm newscasts. No word on who succedes Sarah as co-anchor of the 5, 6 & 11 pm newscasts.

Also in Charlotte over at WSOC, Demany Lewis and John Paul switch roles, with Demany Lewis taking Mornings, and John Paul taking Midday and 7pm. No word on the replacement of Brittney Johnson in the Mornings just yet. 1

SFTV 532 Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Ryan Yamamoto announced on Facebook that he is coming home. He is currently anchoring mornings at KOMO and will be anchoring evenings at KPIX 5. He replaces Ken Bastida who recently retired after 30 years. Ryan will be joining Elizabeth Cook at the desk in 2022.

No word on who succedes Sarah as co-anchor of the 5, 6 & 11 pm newscasts. Yes Carolyn Bruck is back, after her 2nd extended leave of absence in several years. Not sure if it was for health or personal reasons, or contract negotiations. But nevertheless she had developed a popular following, and had a good relationship and chemistry with coanchor Ben Thompson on the early show. Not sure why she was moved to evenings, but I guess it would be considered a promotion of sorts. I hope Sarah French remains on the morning news as she is a talented journalist and anchor, and has also developed a good rapport with Ben Thompson. Sarah was originally the evening anchor before moving to mornings to fill in for Carolyn. Now the flip flop may be permanent, as Vanessa Ruffes seems to be the new nighttime anchor.
