This is not a local TV passing, I get that. But this shows how poignant and amazing and genuine this program is.

Unfortunately, Inside the NBA had to mourn the loss of one of its stagehands, Kevin Thomas, who was with the program for 30 years and was featured on the show in a number of skits. He was 70.

This was genuine to watch and it was saddening and emotional to see this.

Well Good Lord, What day he died? Man, these people are dying too fast everyday.

Rest in peace Kevin in Heaven to be with the Lord, Gone but not Forgotten. My condolences goes out to his family and friends including everyone in the NBA Community.

The news keeps getting worse...

KTHV's former Chief Meteorologist Ed Buckner has passed away.

He was only 59. Only 59, waaaay too young. But his pain is over, he no longer has to suffer. RIP to one of Arkansas' greats.

Wow. 😣😖😞

Spent 30 years at KRIV, the first face of the Satellite News Channel, now gone.

One of the great Cuban journalists of our time, now gone. 😔😖

You know I never cared that he was Cuban, I cared that he was good.

The news broke during their 10pm newscast, so nothing was planned (but there will be tomorrow).

This one hurts badly. The weather community will mourn greatly. He, Tom Skilling, and James Spann have changed the game forever, and Gary will be missed for generations to come.

Lalo Schifrin, the legendary Argentine–American composer, passed away today at age 93. Among his many influential scores, the “Tar Sequence” from Cool Hand Luke (1967) found a second life far beyond the silver screen—it was adopted as the signature news theme by numerous ABC-owned stations (and some affiliates) from the late 1960s into the 1990s, and even inspired later Eyewitness News packages—a testament to its driving rhythm and broadcast-ready punch.

I wonder if any of the stations that used that theme will cover this.

Frank Gari brought Lalo's Cool Hand Luke into the 80s and early 90s with NewsSeries 2000. I remember hearing that Gari version on KRDO ABC13 in Colorado Springs (my hometown) when I was a kid. I didn't hear the Lalo Schifrin original until I was a senior in high school and the internet came along. We'll miss Lalo a great deal.

Oh, and say Hello to Al Primo for us. Schifrin is now up there with Primo. in the Eyewitness Newsroom in the sky.
