KTHV's former Chief Meteorologist Ed Buckner has passed away.

 

He was only 59. Only 59, waaaay too young. But his pain is over, he no longer has to suffer. RIP to one of Arkansas' greats.

Frank Gari brought Lalo's Cool Hand Luke into the 80s and early 90s with NewsSeries 2000. I remember hearing that Gari version on KRDO ABC13 in Colorado Springs (my hometown) when I was a kid. I didn't hear the Lalo Schifrin original until I was a senior in high school and the internet came along. We'll miss Lalo a great deal.

Oh, and say Hello to Al Primo for us. Schifrin is now up there with Primo. in the Eyewitness Newsroom in the sky.

Longtime religious broadcaster and evangelist Jimmy Swaggart has passed away at the age of 90. Talented preacher, singer, musician. Cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley. Overcame scandal in the 80's and founded SBN, SonLife Broadcasting Network. Still preaching, singing, and playing that famous piano up until just a few weeks ago. Survived by wife Frances and son Donnie.

Tom McGee, who anchored several stints at several TV stations in Charleston & Huntington, WV, has passed away at the age of 78.

He also worked at CNN in the 1980s, and after his stint at WHCP-TV (now WQCW), left TV news to attend law school and become a personal injury attorney.

 

Despite his past reputation that cost him several anchoring stints at WCHS and WOWK, his post-television career was one of redemption and forgiveness that prove that nothing is impossible.
