I'm starting to suspect that Allen will *lowkey* move forward with these plans but doing so without any fanfare. I warned y'all a month ago. I knew we were being duped. Don't be surprised if more stations do this because Allen was planning to do this all along. 3 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-304158 Share on other sites
Megatron81 266
I wonder if Flint will be the next to get the weather from The Weather Channel. Yup, was always Byron Allen's plan to do it he didn't care that he'd get flack for this move all in the name to cut cost. But that has always been the Byron Allen way being cheap. 1 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-304244 Share on other sites
Spring Rubber 705
From TWC's standpoint, are the mets who are doing the local hits the same mets that are used on the national network, or are they using a different bunch? 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-304246 Share on other sites
TheRolyPoly 2500
I wasn't fooled and here's proof. Here's TWC's Ray Stagich for WTHI. The Allen TWC plan is in effect. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-304345 Share on other sites

evv_mlis 24
The TWC forecast on WEVV doesn’t even have Evansville in the right county. They moved Evansville from Vanderburgh Co. to Spencer Co. These two counties don’t even border each other. Not surprised. 1 1 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-304377 Share on other sites
nathannah 2474
The Allen Wisconsin network is having a meltdown; WAOW has been stuck having to cover WKOW's newscasts since yesterday (and having to present their news that's completely irrelevant to Madison to pad out shows), along with having to do their statecasts in the morning. At this point, you might as well consider Madison, La Crosse/Eau Claire and Wausau two-operation news markets because it seems like Byron doesn't even care about having a proper third news operation (and Rockford will be inevitably hubbed out soon enough). 1 2 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-305287 Share on other sites
nathannah 2474
Byron has renewed all nine of his celebrity court shows (I remind you that none of the shows are litigating real cases, but CA court transcripts with actors), which is probably going over well in the AMG station Slack or Teams . 2 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-305307 Share on other sites

Nine?!? There are basic cable networks with less original programming than that. Heck, how do they even decide which show gets a particular case? 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-305308 Share on other sites

It wouldn't surprise me if the same cases are on different shows, with the same actors, or maybe that's how they make them different. 17 minutes ago, Big Rollo Smokes said: I saw this in an FB group today... I wonder if these are outright sales of the facilities to other parties, or simply selling the building to a new owner through a sale/leaseback deal... Either way, it's going to bite them somehow in the future. When the rent goes up, then that's a big problem. 1 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-305333 Share on other sites

nathannah 2474
Last week's Madison meltdown had a positive effect in Allen ending their hubbing experiment. Outside the 11am and 4pm shows, the Wisconsin stations now originate their own newscasts, but the audience reaction to it in a negative manner certainly didn't help with the advertisers. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19607-all-about-allen/page/9/#findComment-305499 Share on other sites
