MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 909
Nexstar's WXIN debuted a new graphics package at 4PM.. Gotta say it looks quite spiffy. Hope this rolls out to more of their Fox stations... Here's a few snippits (Most are the weather)... There's a video on YouTube, but it's from a channel that is banned on here... Also, CBS4 has the new weather graphics, but still has the Nexstar CBS graphics Edited July 25, 2024 by MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/ Share on other sites
MediaZone4K 2158
Really good looking set! Nearly thought it was Tegna based on the quality. But in all fairness Nexstar does have some good looking stations. 4 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298933 Share on other sites

Also, CBS4 has the new weather graphics, but still has the Nexstar CBS graphics Was gonna bring up the YT video, but I'll mention it here, if you see the graphics open, anyone who isn't like us into this kinda stuff, you'd think these would be the kinda graphics for a newscast from a FOX O&O especially with the way the FOX logo is shown on screen towards the end of the titles. Also, WXIN kinda being a bit of a copycat with the time/temp/station bug graphics to TEGNA which has a station there in WTHR (NBC). 4 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298934 Share on other sites
T.L. Hughes 881
Here are a couple of the opens: …and I get what @NYCshorty said, the graphics and open style would fit as a Fox O&O package, as components of it blend better with the network’s current graphics style than the actual O&O package does. 9 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298937 Share on other sites

(sarcastic) Wait, did Gray buy WXIN? Because those opens and supers are Gray One wearing a bad disguise. (end sarcasm) The Nexstar election supers not matching the height or placement of the bug is just sloppy and, in theory, preventable. 1 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298943 Share on other sites
ABC 7 Denver 1712
I mean, this is what the Scripps package should be and what the Fox O&Os should be using too. Granted I don't like the modern flat era at all, but this makes it palatable. 3 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298944 Share on other sites
ekt8750 50
Nextar and Tribune before them have always had good Fox looks. This continues the trend. 6 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298964 Share on other sites
C Block 1566
It looks fine. I suppose it's better than the current standard Nexstar Fox graphics. I don't think I'd say this is better than the O&O BNF graphics. 2 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298965 Share on other sites
MediaZone4K 2158
I'd go as far to say looks better than Market 1 WPIX, and outside of Nexstar this looks way better than WABC. 1 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298970 Share on other sites
Yankees4life 558
This looks pretty good. Nice upgrade. I wonder if other FOX stations will have it 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-298972 Share on other sites
Bsean 149
I look forward to KSWB getting them, they are in dire need of graphics overhaul. Unfortunately, I feel like they will be waiting until their new facilities are done. A little off topic, but I have noticed some tweaks to the KUSI graphics since they moved into the KSWB building, like the adoption of the ticker and L3 animations. Devon J 1
I noticed Jim Cutler has been dropped again for V/O. He was the V/O over guy for several years in the 1990s through the mid 2000s, I think, then he was brought back again a few years ago. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-299023 Share on other sites

Ironically, prior forms of this package predated GrayOne, so Gray created GrayOne after Nexstar's use of it. I'd say it would look good on WJW, but with WOIO and WUAB going GrayOne one day.... Nexstar needs some new packages for their stations. The WDCW one is awful and the others are starting to show their age... 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-299042 Share on other sites
Mrknowitall526 115
"Central Indiana's first source for news"... is this true, or just what they say? Are Fox stations often the #1 news in an area? I find that to be an interesting claim. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-299046 Share on other sites

Many last place stations will claim they're the "first source" or "most trusted source" or whatever. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-299047 Share on other sites

It is unusual for a Fox station to be #1, but looking at Miami, WSVN was market leader for years. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-299065 Share on other sites

If you scroll up you would have read the post (that I just tagged below) which questioned if it is typical for Fox stations to be #1 in their markets. A wide assumption is that ABC NBC and CBS stations are often (not always) the top three in their markets. I basically responded to the poster by saying though it goes against conventional assumptions, there are examples such as in Miami where the Fox station is number one. 7 hours ago, Mrknowitall526 said: "Central Indiana's first source for news"... is this true, or just what they say? There are several, and most of them are former CBS affiliates who switched to Fox during the 90's big affiliation swaps. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21493-wxin-fox-59-new-graphics/#findComment-299168 Share on other sites
