  2. “We did not eliminate the sports department — we eliminated the sports anchor position,” Keane said. “We’re still going to cover sports extensively both with a reporter in the mornings and we’re going to gather and distribute sports content across all sports whenever there’s breaking news." Typical corporate jargon speak. They did eliminate the sports department. If you let go of people whose job it was to do a very specific task, you eliminated the department and shifted the workload elsewhere. Also, specifically covering sports with a reporter in the morning? When nothing sportswise happens? Those reporters aren't going to have the same connections and relationships that the sports department will.
  3. I'm baffled by this -- Isn't this why they wanted O&O's in the major sports markets?? Interesting to see what their "long-term" plan is with this....
  4. As if this cursed deal and the people around it aren't enough chaos already, Shari Redstone has thyroid cancer, so once again it's another Viacom/CBS/Paramount deal where a Redstone's health is throwing a wrench into the works. I hope she gets well, but I'm sorry about what they're doing to your baby, Bill Paley.

  6. Probably. But they could end up having their digital content team fully take over Sports coverage too. It appears to be a pretty large one (of 7-8 people).
  7. I agree. From what I read (from reliable sources) is that 'if' Clarkson were to end her show; it would be so that she can focus on her family. That's a more plausible reason (to end the show) to me.
  8. The source for the above is the Daily Mail and they have no idea what they (or the anonymous source) are talking about. There's a good reason nobody usually uses a Yahoo News syndication article that's from a pink slime SEO operation.

  10. Let me guess, anchors give a few words with video, no in-depth coverage.
  11. More about that https://www.chron.com/sports/article/fox-26-houston-cuts-sports-department-will-kunkel-20362890.php
  12. Extremely disappointing decision since it's a Fox O&O. If more stations including O&Os join in eliminating the sports department, who knows what they could do...
  13. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/articles/kelly-clarkson-tormented-talk-show-133000022.html Kelly Clarkson will reportedly leaver her talk show in 2026. If so that's a shame. She was one of the better daytime hosts. I really enjoy her and Sherri, Jennifer Hudson is okay too.
  14. Paxton, who owns WPSD, would be a good choice for WEVV. WEVV has had poor ownership going back for years. Paxton could save that station from the mess it's become.
  15. Wild that an O&O in such a major pro (and college) sports town would cut the entire department.
  16. WCPO's Craig McKee moves from WCPO to KNXV per FTVLive
  17. CHSN will be available for Xfinity Ultimate TV tier customers on Friday. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports-media/2025/06/05/chicago-sports-network-comcast-xfinity-cable-friday-white-sox-bulls-blackhawks-marquee-sports-network-cubs
  18. As I understand it, a local firm is interested in WSIL. Might they pull a Deltavision (or whoever the company is that bought WABG and others) and buy a bit more as well?? Indiana comes to mind. And possibly Wisconsin and WJRT.
  19. And I don't think Sinclair can buy anyway because of the troubles Sinclair had with the FCC regarding the Tribune deal. Speaking of wish, I wish Tribune was still around.
  20. Yes, I agree. Everyone else other than Coastal is better in this case. Even Sinclair could be a better choice.
  21. Cheap and safe promotion. They will continue to be an also ran in the mornings.
  22. Oof. I'd rather see anyone else buy them as opposed to Coastal (former Coastal Employee. I can make a primetime special on how big of a jerk the owner is.) Anyone else would be an upgrade (Including Scripps, Sinclair, and TEGNA)
  23. Better Gray buys them than Coastal, who is the only other plausible buyer. Not even Marquee would waste money on these clunkers.
  24. My 2 cents on the issue about Allen Media.... I don't think Gray Media is going to aquire them. Gray already had other things to do, like make WANF independent, for them to care about what Allen Media is doing. And with the current FCC rules in place, they can't own some of the stations, and they definitely can't place the Allen stations programming on a Gray Media station and sell them. Plus, Allen has yet to find a buyer for their stations. Saying Gray Media will just buy Allen Media sounds a little childish in my opinion.
  25. I wouldn't say that MSNBC's departure will open up a lot of studio space. It will open one major studio - Studio 3A. They will have more office space opening up than studio space.
  26. It absolutely has. Those stations are permabroken and destined to be rumps of their former Gray competition. No one else is going to waste their money on properties Byron Allen squandered.
