1. Ken Owen is possibly one of my most favorite news anchors ever. That’s a good find right there. To North Carolina we go - the heart of it, actually.

 3. I would assume Rob Johnson just went solo for those months, with maybe some time with Stacey or someone lower on the ladder it was Leah Hope serving as interim anchor, 2 years removed from her demotion from the morning show. I'm not entirely sure if it's what you mean, but Karen debuted as weekend anchor. She may have spent a week or 2 behind the scenes after arriving, but there was no other buffer. June 5: "Karen Jordan, a weekend news anchor at WPHL-TV in Philadelphia, has been hired as weekend anchor and reporter at WLS-Channel 7, starting in July. The move confirms a report here last Friday. Jordan, 30, a Chicago native and daughter of WGN-Channel 9 weekend anchor Robert Jordan, succeeds Cheryl Burton, who was promoted to 5 p.m. weekday anchor and 10 p.m. weekday contributing anchor at the ABC-owned station. Karen Jordan, a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and Spellman College, joined WPHL in 2000 after working for stations in Dayton, Ohio, and Rockford. The anchor post alongside Rob Johnson has been vacant since February, when Cheryl Burton was promoted to 5 p.m. weekday news anchor and 10 p.m. weekday contributing anchor at the ABC-owned station. Leah Hope, a reporter and former morning news anchor at Channel 7, has been filling in." As a little follow-up, Burton's move gave Rob some aspirations of his own, and he'd sign a new contract later in '03. That contract was for 3 more years, and increased his anchoring opportunities, but getting passed over after Joel's retirement sealed his fate, and that opened him up for leaving for CBS.

 4. Scripps CEO Adam Symson had some sharp criticism of Trump's rhetoric against the press in a memo to employees, comparing it to tactics done by autocratic leaders such as Recep Erdogan, Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin and Hitler. His memo also cites polls that find large minorities of Americans of all political stripes (mostly Republican, but even some Democrats and Independents) believe that mainstream news media is "the enemy of the people” and that they believed that the President of the United States should have the power to shut down media for “bad behavior,” saying that the “vitriol and rhetoric in this assault on journalism is hitting the mark.” Symson also discloses in the memo that Scripps has had to increase security at its stations, partly because of the charged rhetoric.

 5. With all due respect, it seems like you have nothing positive to say about 3 or even 29. I happen to like what 3 is doing with their 4pm show. It may not be as hard-hitting as the other 4pm shows, but 3 is known for being different and trying new things. I tip my hat to 3 for being different and I wish them luck at 4pm. It may take a while, but they have to keep going and make a name for themselves doing things different.

 8. I’ll be damned! That’s exactly what I thought. Thanks for looking that up. I didn’t remember that Diann was the market’s highest paid news anchor; I wish she would’ve stayed, I’m sure she’d still be the main anchor. I also wish Roseanne Tellez would’ve stayed at WGN; she had a great anchor gig on the city’s top rated morning news, now she’s out on the streets on the city’s lowest rated newscast. Dang.

 12.
Hey @T.L. Hughes i know I might have asked you before but can I update some of your compilations? I’ve been getting requests since the beginning and plenty of them were to update your existing compilations. If I do update them though I won’t be doing every one of them - like if I were doing NYC I’d probably be here all day cause you know how much NYC stuff gets uploaded. And yes @NCFLMedia, I will update WJXT if possible. Also here’s some KOTV commercials from 1985 - including a newsbreak with CNN’s Bob Losure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrpbE2Rxm0Q
Tell you what, you can create your versions of the aforementioned compilations. Though I'll also do my own update of those same stations, whenever I get my laptop back. Basically, I don't mind anyone creating their own compilations, so long as no one assigns lines as to who does which station or market.

 18. It's from Kalehoff, I can confirm. I've listened to it pre-paywall and have loved it. Wished i've downloaded for you guys to hear. It's either "Bravo Charlie" or "Alpha Charlie". I'll ask TVPMM if and when they could restore the files because they're missing. It's under the ABC Sports banner in the sports section.

 21. Has Dick Goddard ever appeared on TV since his retirement? I know he committed the rest of his career to the "four foots" (animal welfare) that has been his passion for decades...but it's a good thing he hang it up before all of the ownership drama over Tribune and Sinclair heated up..(and about to go back to the drawing board any day now....) I still think Robin Swoboda still has one more TV stint in her....and WOIO is the only place she hasn't worked at yet. John Loufman is the only Cleveland TV personality I know of that has the distinction of working at ALL 4 stations in some form over time. He may have been a "floater" who had short-term gigs to fill in-between people and when others were on vacation. Cleveland had a bunch of them it seems in the 1990s...was it a union thing?

 22. I'm sure by now you know, long time WFAA anchor John McCaa has announced that he'll be retiring on 3/1/2019. McCaa joined WFAA in 1984 originally at the Dallas-based station as a reporter from the station's Fort Worth bureau, the late 1980's he was then the weekend anchor pairing with Gloria Campos before he and Campos moved to the weeknight team with Tracy Rowlett, Chip Moody (RIP) making News8 the most watched news in the DFW market. He's been part of the weeknight team since December 1991 when he teamed with Chip at 5PM and frequently fill-in for the 6 & 10PM and since 2002, McCaa has been part of the station 10PM newscasts with now retired Gloria Campos and now with Cynthia Izzguirre. For nearly 35 years in Dallas/Fort Worh, McCaa has worked the best in the business; Iola Johnson, Tracy Rowlett, John Criswell, Chip Moody, Scott Sams, Jeff Brady, Troy Dungan and Dale Hansen (who signed a new two year deal with WFAA til 2020). I'm going to miss his Uncut Commentaries every Friday at 6PM. No word on who will succeed John as the main anchor; but I have a very good hunch it will be Jason Wheeler taking the helm at 5, 6 & The Update at 10PM come 2019. On behalf of myself and to many member of TVNT, we wish John McCaa the very best on his retirement. Congrats John, and God Bless. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/968b04e1960f849edf841eae1619acb0-4245.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=wtxnvqTQKBo;t=10

 24. I thought it was pretty interesting. Definitely is different than other Philly newscasts. It has a 'Good Day Philadelphia' feel with them sitting around the couch. I like that they show a lot of behind the scenes cameras, like the newsroom and control room. I think it's unnecessary to have Ukee and Kate on there. They should leave Ukee and Kate with the 5, 10 and 11 and just let Lauren, Natasha and Alexandria do the 4. Feels like there's too many people on one show.

 25. After Burton moved to weekdays, who anchored weekends on ABC 7? Apparently Karen Jordan didn't join the station until July 2003. Did Jordan assume the weekend anchor duties immediately, or did it take a while?

 27. KTVI. Between the time you uploaded the KTVI compilation in October 2014 to now, plenty of footage from that station has been uncovered. Also I am planning on updating some of my own compilations too - I really don’t like my KPHO compilation as I missed a ton of stuff from 2014 onward. Also dma37dude has been kind enough to share some footage off of his hard drive with me, which includes more WXXA during the “News Matrix” era and plenty of WIVB.

 28. She didn't get fired. Ahern was poaching people from everywhere and gave her an offer she couldn't refuse. Funny that she would identify herself that way but its not all that uncommon. Antonio Mora did the same thing IN promo spots for WBBM when he was named anchor. He specifically referenced himself "from Good Morning America" which at the time I found interesting because he was joining a CBS station.

 29. Would it be KMOV or KSDK? BTW, if you're going for St. Louis, I never was able to do a compilation of KPLR because I couldn't find enough clips to create an adequate one when I made or uploaded them. Maybe you'll have better luck with that station than I did.

 31. Thanks. I’m gonna start with a certain station in St. Louis.... Also glad to see that more of that KHOU theme, which the NMSA needs to change to 1985, not 1984. They were still using “And You” as late as February:

 32. The FA Cup got a new home at ESPN+ starting this season. Per the agreement, all 79 matches, beginning in the first round in November, is gonna be on the platform. The FA Community Shield is included in the deal as well. https://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2018/08/espn-becomes-exclusive-presenter-of-emirates-fa-cup-in-u-s-through-new-rights-agreement/

 33. Speaking of that, the NMSA says WBRZ’s 1983 Theme was in use at WFSB, so I thought it’d be fitting to post this on TVNT.

 34. For the purpose it serves, the show is fine. It's never going to compete with 6 or 10 nor do I think that's their intention. They wanted a feature rich show that covers the headlines and weather and the rest of the show, long form C and D block material. I'm sure they'd be perfectly content with beating Judge Judy by the February book.

 35. This game telecast from 1986 is notable for two reasons: -it is the final game Wichita State played in football (the program was disbanded within a month) -it was also the final regular season game in ASU's Rose Bowl season Wichita State football at the time was telecast by KBS (KWCH). As a bonus... -There's a promo at 1:37:00... -and at 2:55:35 is a promo leading into the KWCH sign-off. This must have been a repeat.
