  1. What did CNN have before American Morning? Personally CNN should just stick to hard news in the morning, maybe with an international slant. Whether that would be competitive with Morning Joe or Fox & Friends remains to be seen. Hopefully whatever they try isn't as opinionated as New Day.

  3. Kind of a risk to blow up primetime further when they still haven’t filled 9pm permanently yet, but sometimes it needs to be done.

  6. No reason to work into your 60s/70s if you don't have to. She has accomplished a lot in her career so, in her eyes, there's nothing else left to achieve.

  7. Her contract was up in two weeks; they just spent money on more ad campaigns featuring her… have to imagine renewal talks were ongoing and not going in a direction she thought was worth it to stay at FOX5 and, after 40 years, probably thought this was a good time to step back and just enjoy life instead of starting over again somewhere else. As you pointed out, she’s retiring from the business at a relatively young age — and good for her! She’ll be able to spend time with family and friends, doing fun things on her schedule, while she has the energy and ability to do so. A true legend in local New York City news, Lori will definitely be missed by many viewers.

  9. Longtime New York City anchor Lori Stokes announced on Instagram that she will retire from television news on Sept. 30th. She's currently the 5, 6 and 10pm news anchor at WNYW after her long tenure at WABC-TV. https://www.instagram.com/p/CifcsIpgNcB/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

  10. That desk was the old newsroom desk when it debuted back in 1997 from Devlin Design Group. It’s refreshed from brown to a grey tone and they added lighting to the desk.

  11. Not bad for a temporary set? That is better than most *PERMANENT* sets!

  12. First thing I thought of was that she's going to 2/9, but I wonder if Viacom/CBS would fork over the money for the likes of her. If KCAL is serious about making a run at mornings, maybe, but my absolutely amateur opinion is that there is a better chance for her to land at "Good Day LA." Which is why KTLA management is so ticked off as to keep her off of the lot and give her departure as little attention as possible.

  13. Just want to point out that the WGCL Vimeo page has been changed. Also the Roku app store has been updated with ANF and so have the preamble on the station Facebook Video page. I'm also fairly certain that Gray owns AtlantaNewsFirst.com.

  15. Not bad for a temp set. Some of the stand up shots in studio look good as well. The anchors have been joking that their set looks like cable access tv.

  17. Recently, the official program of this year's Chicago Marathon has using Stefan Holt and Allison Rosati again for the second year in their ad placement. Brant Miller and Leila Rahimi is not involved in the ad, but it also bearing the NBC 5 logo with the URL link and the title of "NBC 5 Chicago News at 10". https://issuu.com/cemevent/docs/2022_bank_of_america_chicago_marathon_program/87

  18. I hope it stays. Let's not have them repeat what they did in 1991 (although their '91 rebranding made me a fan of the station ironically; TT Norms would look good on the EWN name)

  21. Ladies and germs, might I suggest we not do play-by-play of our local stations, checking in to say that nothing has changed? All signs, at this time, are pointing to a package launch closer to, if not during or even after November. From now on, let us know when you see something legitimately new. Otherwise, we might just have to locked up this thread, for a bit.

  23. Nope. The show doesn’t have an official website. But I did find this anti-Ring Nation website.

  24. Sone odd anchoring fill ins: Natasha has been filling in in the morning and at 9am alongside Janelle while Jim’s been in the UK on assignment. Janelle’s been soloing at noon. Siafa and Ukee co-anchored together at 4 and 5 today. Just seems odd that they wouldn’t send Siafa to morning to fill in and keep Natasha in evening to fill in. Also still perplexed they haven’t handed off the noon to the 4pm team. Earlier this week, Jessica was subbing for Natasha, there’s no reason Siafa couldn’t have handled the noon.

  25. I actually don't see completely getting rid of the channel number being a good move. Several of the CBS O&Os are heritage stations from the start up of television, over 70 years old. Throughout the years, most people refer to them as Channel 2, Channel 4 etc. Considering local news skews older demographically, those are the folks that are used to watching Channel 2 most of their lives and will refer to it that way. If the heritage channel numbers weren't important, why did they all push for virtual channel numbers when they converted to digital TV? The non station branding is fine, NBC has done that for years, but they did not abandon channel numbers either.
