  1. The point of this website is for people to offer their personal opinions and critiques on news matters. Notice how I said "I wish" they would change the sets not "they should". Whether or not the corporations who actually make decisions implement them is their business. But you don't have to dismiss peoples opinions by saying their just "armchair critiques" and "whatever decision the company makes is the right one." Otherwise we might as well just close every thread because "whatever decision the network makes is the right decision."

  2. New/modified definitely is the correct description. Looks like a little nod to the 2002 logo, but with the 2006 font. I said on the Discord that I'd like to think there's a little wink to AM America, in there, too.

  3. Perhaps they’re recreating elements because in their professional opinion those elements are currently fine and not “less than desirable” because a few armchair critiques deem them so. We know in time there will be updates small and large. Change is inevitable and necessary. It may be that now isn’t that time.

  4. Yep - I remember it being speculated here years ago that they’d leave TSS as they started limiting the exposure years ago. When they did the last set update they blocked off the second floor windows and limited the views of the first floor to the two windows on the street. Actually spent the morning at GMA for the send off. The cast took photos and said goodbye to the crowd. Production even let us take some of their signs home. End of an era for sure.

  5. GMA essentially phased out its use of Times Square. This was no accident. It's expensive, there are security concerns, and most importantly, they've known since at least 2018 that they'd be moving from Times Square and wanted to gradually make Times Square less central to the broadcast so viewers didn't feel like they were watching a completely different show after the move once this day came. Ten years ago, the anchor desk sat in front of a "window" overlooking Times Square, multiple live segments and weather updates occurred in the Times Square plaza, and Times Square audience interaction was a staple of the show. Today, they could move the studio to Oklahoma and you wouldn't notice a difference.

  8. No it won’t really, honestly they never really interacted with the live audience outside except for weather hits, and also presentations outside the studio. I just hope it doesn’t hit them ratings wise.

  9. A floor made out of screens isn’t innovative or modern? If that’s what it ends up being is quite unlike anything GMA has ever had or anything the other morning shows have.

  11. I've never known a group of people who loves talking about something they hate more than this group in this thread. A lot of assumptions are being made about something none of us have seen. Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised, if anyone's willing to deviate from the narrative. Like, how about this? Sam was backstage at the new space, this morning, and was holding a mug with a new/modified logo.

  12. I 100% agree. Im not a fan of ABC News visual design. (sets/graphics). But for them to rebuild the dark cave for world news tonight instead of creating something fresh new and modern is ridiculous. I cant understand that logic. It also shows how scare the design teams are that if they make even the slightest change that audiences will run. Probably why European news sets/music/graphics are so modern. Particularly in Scandinavian countries. So Im not thinking ABC will do anything innovative or modern or different with the new GMA studio. It will be laden with wood and shiny metal and tons of various busy patterns and a shiny floor or a wooden type floor.

  13. The faux windows were cool and could have been re-purposed somewhere. Throwing up a bunch of tv monitors, etc… seems like a step backwards design-wise. Is another weather center/area really necessary? The current weather center is literally a few feet away and connected to the main studio. Hopefully this area is multi-purpose otherwise this seems like a waste of space.

  14. I agree. If you’re already spending money, you might as well design something different.

  15. I wish they would stop re-creating some of their less than desirable sets and just completely redesign them.

  16. The end of an era at WAGA FOX5 Atlanta. The I-Team is no more after 48 years. Dana Fowle and Johnny Edwards have been let go. [story is paywalled at the AJC, but you can read the first couple of sentences for free] https://www.ajc.com/arts-entertainment/2025/06/like-a-death-in-the-family-fox-5-atlanta-eliminates-i-team-after-48-years/

  19. Haven't been able to find if these have been mentioned online before - sometime in late April, KGTV modified their opens, making them all talent opens. Most of their opens follow this template, with the morning opens continuing to use a theme from the original 2019 Scripps music package KGTV open update 2025.mov

  23. Also stunned because investigative reports were one of the more heavily promoted segments on Fox 5 News. Unfortunately it seems Scripps and Tegna like cuts are creeping their way into FOX. First the elimination of sports on Fox 26, now the I Team on FOX 5 ATL is gone, what's next? Hopefully that happens, and hopefully post-employment noncompete clauses do not apply. The fact that a company can still control where you work after laying you off is criminal. I've always liked FOX O&Os for being creative with original content to film hours of airtime. WTXF's Roast of Mike Jerrick on Fox Local, the Isiah Factor on KRIV and Fox News Edge on WOFL are a few examples.

  24. Australia ABC is in the middle of converting ABC Entertains and ABC News to high-definition (I know, right? In 2025?). It has started doing so in Tasmania (ABT; home to Hobart) and South Australia (ABS; home to Adelaide) and is doing a staged roll-out to the upcoming states across the country: Tuesday, June 17th - Western Australia (ABW; home to Perth) and Northern Territory (ABD; home to Darwin) Thursday, June 19th - Queensland (ABQ; home to Brisbane) Tuesday, June 24th - New South Wales (ABN; home to Sydney) and Australian Capital Territory (ABC; home to Canberra) Thursday, June 26th - Victoria (ABV; home to Melbourne) ABC will continue to offer ABC TV in SD and HD as well as ABC Kids/ABC Family in SD. https://help.abc.net.au/hc/en-us/articles/12564144195855-ABC-NEWS-Channel-and-ABC-Entertains-is-moving-to-HD-in-June?fbclid=IwY2xjawK4enhleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFQNmRLQlVyWHBIQlJwbDlXAR7tClm1QTAAO3Vw4L5Ytu0eVWbtcLannqsrYeA6EJixoigO6ewZSsNDkLsX_A_aem_YF7iK_JVHoK0ZSchQicppQ

  28. Looks like they’re getting close to unveiling the new stand up area near the desk. The scope of work ‘appears’ to be in areas where the old Fox 32 logo was featured. While I commend them for trying to blend the old with the new, I’m not sure I like the end result. Maybe it will look better when fully lit.

  30. They showed a teaser timelapse of the new studio, and it obviously doesn't show much, but don't be surprised if some general concepts carry over from Times Square. You get an idea of the size of the space in the first image. It's apparently the same size as The View's and Live's studios, but should feel even more open with no audience risers. In the second pic, you can make out wood-tone beams across the ceiling, a large, possibly L-shaped video wall to the left, and a curved desk against a video wall in the foreground. The desk looks like a stand-in for the final product, but it's thankfully a lot smaller than the outgoing model. In the back corner, you can make out some kind of non-video wall feature, though the short end wall (top right) is likely to be a giant screen. In addition to Charlie Gibson voicing a new team promo as the 50th anniversary festivities start to pick up, Diane Sawyer is likely to be in-studio on Monday, promoting a new sit-down interview she did with an actor.

  32. The technology is neat, but I don't really grasp how it improves upon forecast delivery as opposed to a nice physical set. Different cameras being used as the "window" in the rear of the set? Neat, but nothing that can't be done with a monitor or screen (and is already used on a fair number of sets as a backdrop). Weather conditions on the floor? Neat, as long as my location isn't obscured by someone standing on it. Also, even with the graphics, it still looks to me like the weather person is walking around a big empty warehouse.

  33. Can someone remind me what the old studio looked like? I know he didn't say the current KCBS/KCAL set, which is also in use at KCNC and WBBM, correct?

  34. Idk about the last part of that, but agree, it’s shame they gutted the studio, and agree, it was still a good set.

  41. Sunday night had coanchors today. Nydia was in next to Walter tonight. She had subbed for him last night too. Jaclyn was in for her Sunday Morning next to Gray. I could get on board with these pairings. On a separate note, it seems that Christie Ileto is now the 4pm features anchor. She is mentioned in the close now and Alicia is not.

  46. I was going to say when will WJZ update the graphics. Took them a few months to go widescreen Chyrons (that are textually still 4:3 safe - they just updated the background). Plus they run a Baron weather system and may take time to roll out compared to the bulk using WSI/TWC.
