Nant 0 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Sam just posted on Twitter this morning that he just came back from a 10 day vacation and he was off all social media during that time.
Spintech33 126 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 What's with everyone here asking if Sam Champion has left the station or on vacation. Last I checked meteorologists are allowed to take vacations. 12 days without a phone and being on social media is good for someone like Sam. We all need to remember that social media does not consume our lives. At the end of the day we all have lives to live. Social Media is a gift and a curse. All of this to say is Sam will return back to the studio once his vacation is done. 3 4

Can’t he take a vacation without people wondering what happened to him? 6 hours ago, Paradox said: No one ever said he left the station, you did in your reply here. They only asked if he was on air during that week, in which another replied he's probably on vacation. There’s no need to be snarky.

There's also no reason for you to postulate or extrapolate on what one person's question of a vacation to the assumption that they left the station. You did the same thing in the NBC thread about David Ushery, saying he left because you hadn't seen him for a few weeks on air nor on social media. Then he was back on air, after taking a vacation in August, gasp! 3

And for many with years of experience and high compensation, they get a lot of it. When an anchor is missing they may be sick, may be on vacation or took a personal day for whatever reason. We don't need 20 posts speculating they are gone or whatever. It is too often on WABC, and as was mentioned it spilled over to WNBC as well. If someone leaves a station, you all find out anyhow. No need to speculate. Back to the topics. 1 7

MisterBill 99 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 So, this is slightly off-topic, but still related to the news broadcasts. Does anyone here who watches them streamed (or is familiar with them) know why they don't show some commercials and instead put up the "We'll be right back" graphic? It only seems to happen during local news broadcasts. I'm guessing that they are trying to sell advertising slots to reach streaming customers, but can't understand why they wouldn't just show what's on the broadcast if they do not have something else to show. All other WABC programming, including the network news, shows the normal commercials (or seems to, at least it doesn't put up a graphic instead of a commercial)

MorningNews 1498 Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 Did we ever learn the circumstances around his WABC departure? It seemed like an awkward break up with him never returning to air after a longer parental leave.
24994J 5629 Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 If he likes original NewsNation boss Jennifer Lyons, as she assembled the first team, I wouldn't rule him out of joining WBBM in Chicago, where she just took over. Ultimately, it depends on how deep of roots he planted here...in a year. 2

Don't wish on it. Although, he is from the tri-state area and has deep roots at ABC News and WABC-TV. I personally don't see him returning back to NYC. WNYW right now has a high turnover and that situation wouldn't be good for Nelson.
abc7 Man 52 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 The 11pm news tonight now has the flat abc dot as part of the ABC7 logo in the bottom right. Same size as before. 1

Good because this new logo is a massive step backwards graphically. WABC in general has been the lesser of the big 3 stations graphics and studio wise, none the less they’re still on top! 2
Vlad 333 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Yeah terrible, im sorry. I prefer the shiny more forward look that they had in the mid 2010s. This flat look is too bland and is a step backwards for me. 3

NowBergen 702 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I'm not an Eyewitness News junkie. I'm a very casual ABC7 news viewer. To me, it is not important. It identifies WABC being an ABC station,. Mission accomplished,. Most viewers probably do not notice the bug to begin with. 8
wabceyewitness 827 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 (edited) On the Eyewitness News Briefs, you can now spot 3 different ABC7 logos and 2 different websites in a matter of seconds. Edited September 5, 2021 by wabceyewitness 5
MorningNews 1498 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Interesting to see Ken Rosato filling in on the weekend morning news with Toni Yates today. Does this happen often?
