NYNewsCoverage 300
Breaking up Mary and Chris in the mornings definitely wouldn't be the worst thing, Cindy fits pretty seamlessly into that role (plus she was originally supposed to do the 9am). Chris could do the noon and 5pm as he did the last 2 days. I think his past work with Kristine from 2007-2010 makes him a good candidate for the 5pm. I think if WCBS favorited Dick Brennan, he wouldn't have been bumped from the anchor desk (twice). Unfortunately current management sees him as a fill in anchor only, until further evidence. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11655-wcbs-cbs2-news/page/64/#findComment-303959 Share on other sites

Per her LinkedIn, she announced her role as an MSJ/Reporter. Although the bigger the market, the lesser frequency of MMJ/MSJing, it still sucks that elevating to market 1 is no longer an escape from one man banding.... and on a big three station not News 12. Pretty weird. The ugly gradient reminds me of CBSN's old "Red & Blue" look (and also 1990s web design). This strange bug appeared for the first 30 seconds or so of yesterday's noon broadcast, before being taken down and replaced by the usual blue one. Anyone have any theories as to what's going on? Do they use this for streaming at all? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11655-wcbs-cbs2-news/page/64/#findComment-304043 Share on other sites

Are they matching over their affinity for candlelit dinners and nighttime strolls on the beach on a dating profile or finding out if it’s going to rain tomorrow? Honestly, give the viewers credit for understanding things like non-traditional workweeks and schedules. It’s a small number of familiar faces and they’ll be just fine hearing from person A some days and person B on others, much the same as during vacations, illnesses and such. 1 hour ago, NowBergen said: They can't. This…is a plan. I can say through multiple jobs in multiple industries a plan often means allocating resources to do what needs to be done to cover the work, and adjusting on the fly as circumstances dictate. There are multiple variables and the unexpected bumps that require adjusting even a temporary plan. Budgets and processes are what they are, and seldom is it a cakewalk to have exactly what you want when you want it. We live in the real world where things are messy. 1 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11655-wcbs-cbs2-news/page/64/#findComment-304325 Share on other sites

Is management that disorganized? I agree. One of the biggest hallmarks of daytime television and news is the predictability of seeing your favorite personality. This matters more so for anchors than weather casters, but WCBS's lineup is still very confusing. The decisions from CBS 2 regarding John Elliott are so puzzling. He clearly has the the lively eccentric weatherman personality that morning shows go for. Why was he removed from weekday mornings, and why do they seem to be so hesitant to give him a regular weekday slot? He's arguably one of the strongest personalities on a very stiff and straight news station. Not specific to CBS News NY, but these days anchor lineups are getting a lot more unpredictable. I'm tempted to say the average viewer doesn't care, but I think the regular news viewer does. Wouldn't it just be simpler to have: John Weekday Mornings & Noon Lonnie Weekdays 5pm Tony Weekdays 6-11pm newscasts Vanessa: weekend mornings Whoever: weekend evenings Edited March 14 by MediaZone4K 2 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11655-wcbs-cbs2-news/page/64/#findComment-304331 Share on other sites
NYNewsCoverage 300
It seems the opening is for a weekday meteorologist, so the hypothetical new meteorologist will be for the 6pm-11pm weekday slot. And I agree it is sad about John Elliott, but I think Elise (may she RIP) and now Tony are on weekday mornings for diversity purposes which I do understand; although I would argue both personalities were (are) better suited for evenings. They also do have Craig Allen as freelance, and from time to time, Rob Marciano seems to fill in; although I haven't seen either in recent weeks. 2 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11655-wcbs-cbs2-news/page/64/#findComment-304332 Share on other sites

I would love to see the latest NYC numbers. Stations and talent often claim to be number one all the time, but it could just mean in a specific demographic, time period or slot. Prime example, I've heard people at WSB calling it the "number one station in the country", but last time I checked that was WABC.
