Harry Houdini 0 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I checked in tonight. It looked-like amateur hour. From no teleprompter, frozen images, bad clips/loops etc.,it was pretty poor.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 More mistakes tonight. Maybe the weekend shift regulars are on vacation?
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Karen Scott, the news director for 16 years is leaving Friday. Seems funny when the news is expanding again on the channel. Here's the link: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2009/08/31/2009-08-31_veteran_tv_news_.html

Here's the link: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2009/08/31/2009-08-31_veteran_tv_news_.html Similar stuff happened at PIX's sister station in Houston.
WizOz 3 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Is WPIX begining to mass a new stable with Jackie Hyland, Monica Morales and Shon Gables all making appearances ??
DMA 136 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Jackie is very good, I can see her taking the place of Kaity eventually.
IceManNYR 242 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 What happens when Sukanya Krishnan returns? Will Tamsen move to co-anchor at 4:30am-6am & 8am? Is Jackie Hyland just freelancing till Sukanya comes back or will they find a place for her at PIX?
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Tamsen will be a major player when this all sorts out. IMHO
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Here's some more info the talent coming in, etc. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2009/09/03/2009-09-03_former_wcbs_and_wnbc_reports_find_new_homes_at_wpix.html
TellyGenic 33 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I tuned in the other morning and saw Jackie Hyland, who now has long, blonde hair. Didn't she used to have short brunette hair the last time she was in NYC? I guess this is a result of her time in Texas.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Maybe because she gets caught in traffic? http://gothamist.com/2009/08/27/driver_lost_control_in_yesterdays_b.php
WizOz 3 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 The next question would be why was she on the Brooklyn Bridge at 4AM unless she was going to work from Brooklyn?????
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Here's the latest poop with the shuffle, new launches, etc. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2009/09/08/2009-09-08_innertube_630_pm_news_starts_on_wpix_anchored_by_jim_watkins_and_kaity_tong.html
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 I noticed that Jackie Hyland will be co-anchoring the 6:30 broadcast with Peter Thorne on the weekends. I wonder why Mary Murphy won't fill that position since she does the weekend 10PM news.
nynewslover 281 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 I noticed that Jackie Hyland will be co-anchoring the 6:30 broadcast with Peter Thorne on the weekends. I wonder why Mary Murphy won't fill that position since she does the weekend 10PM news. Maybe it has 2 do with her hours??? Does she have different hours than Peter?
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hyland and Thorne should work. The female anchor they had this weekend didn't seem like a good fit. IMHO
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I just watched the 10PM news and the sports woman Lolita needs some work. Betweem the accent, her hair and choice of tops she really doesn't cut it. Sh looks-like she belongs on channel 47 UHF or something. Humping Sal Marciano the way they did was a bad move.

Betweem the accent' date=' her hair and choice of tops she really doesn't cut it. Sh looks-like she belongs on channel 47 UHF or something. Humping Sal Marciano the way they did was a bad move.[/quote'] Or at the very least, she belongs on the local Telemundo or Univision station. Her sports reports are all right for the most part, but she should keep the Spanish phrases out of them. Not everyone understands Spanish. As for Sal, I don't really miss him. The only thing he had going for him was the fact that he had been there a long time. He may have been better than Lolita, but not by much.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I see/hear Thallia Patillo really turn it up a the rolling L's in the last few months. I seem to rememeber her and the anchors used to introduce her as Tal-ia Pa-tillo. Maybe they are looking for a niche market or something.

I seem to rememeber her and the anchors used to introduce her as Tal-ia Pa-tillo. Maybe they are looking for a niche market or something. Funny, because I remember when she used to work at WABC, some of the anchors (where she used to work) used to roll the "L's". I guess its more of a matter of choice or her request.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Ouch! Who designed the new page? Darth Vader? Funny, I remember it the other way when she was on 7. If Jane Mitchell can know be known as Jane Mitchell Velez( her great grandmother's name), anything is possible to fill the niche.
IceManNYR 242 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Bringing the thread a little back to topic, Did Linda have a date after the AM show? Free Image Hosting by ImageBam.com
Harry Houdini 0 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Maybe that's why she was on the Brooklyn bridge the othe day. The fishnet stockings look like she be "working" a second career.
