Please put anything regarding the reports that Nexstar is in talks to acquire Tegna in the dedicated thread for the matter.

Will WCCB still be carried on YTTV when they go independent?

The irony in all of this was that YTTV DROPPED WMYT after Nexstar took it over, because they didn't carry MyNetworkTV affiliates at the time (since it was a prior FOX O&O).  Bahakel happened to have carriage when carrying CW affiliates was not as prevalent as it is now.

And it was Nexstar that later changed it's tune to carry stations like WMYT across the country.  Acquiring the CW was what led many of their former CW affiliates-now CW O&Os getting on the service.

I had my first experience with one of Nester's station + apps today while trying to watch the funeral of Judge Frank Caprio (Caught in Providence) this morning on the WPRI+ app via Apple TV.  One word:  disaster.  The stream started and then for a time got that blasted circle came on as the picture froze like it was trying to download - yet there were no internet issues.  Then at one point a set of automated ads kicked in.  WTF?  Finally it streamed most of the service and near the end the blasted ads showed up and the beginning of some useless restaurant show.  Someone must have caught it and it went back to the funeral feed.  Fine and then all of a sudden, more ads and the whole funeral began to be repeated.  I'm sorry but I give Nexstar and WPRI (which controls CBS, CW, Fox and more in the market) an F.  Not a positive streaming experience to say the least.  What is scary, this company wants to control all tv stations in most markets.  Yikes.

WCCB has been removed from YTTV. Youtube (Hulu too) only adds channels if there's enough demand from customers, or if the channel will generate signups and retain customers.

WMYT officially a CW on 55.1 in 720p. I rescanned channels and there doesn't appear to be a channel for MyNetwork so maybe it's gone in the Charlotte area. WCCB renamed itself, new branding is gold-on-black, and they didn't go with news round the clock - 5am-9am, 9-11pm and some other local programming. The Edge is also coming back at 10:30pm with Ashley Anderson, Morgan and Fred https://www.wccbcharlotte.com/2025/09/01/your-guide-to-watching-wccb-charlotte-and-our-new-lineup/

Schedules indicate that WJZY's .8 Rewind TV (aka subchannel Siberia) is carrying it in primetime, but that could just be to run out the contractual string the next two weeks for all we know.

MyNetworkTV.com says it's on Mondays 11-1am on WMYT

I knew it was only a matter of time, but WOOD-TV has finally succumbed to a sponsor in their weather segment.  A law firm logo now sits in the upper right corner of the U3rd and they moved the average high/low graphic to the bottom left, where no one can see it -- bah

What took them so long?  There's sadly lots of real estate for Nexstar to slap someone else's sponsor logo on....

This happening is like Nexstar FINALLY putting their newscasts on devices...

Gosh...

Nexstar did something right by finally putting live streaming again for their stations. But as soon as they do, now there's a new hurdle.

There's now a five-minute free preview, just like some cable TV channels give you a 30-minute free preview. If you want more time, you now have to create an account to watch it in full.

Sign in to create your free My Nexstar account featuring exclusive livestreams

Like... why? They're making it harder again.

Probably so they can get your email address (and maybe other contact info) so they and their "partners" can send you email and track your activity.

Is Nexstar starting to be like Gray and TEGNA in adopting 24-hour weather streams? I've just noticed that WIAT has introduced its own 24-hour weather stream, CBS 42 Weather LIVE.

In Birmingham alone, this is the FIFTH such option, joining WVUA's FastTrack LIVE Radar channel (23.4 with NPR audio), WBMA's James Spann 24/7 Weather (58.2), WBRC's streaming option First Alert Weather LIVE, and even James Spann's statewide option, the Alabama Weather Network.

Hopefully it's easily accessible through their Roku or smart TV app, because it's 2025 and Nexstar is still stuck in last decade trying to wring out pay TV revenue....

At the very least, they need a partnership with Zeam or LocalNow to get their streams in one place, and not some half-assed effort like Sinclair did with Stirr while still running NewsON.

I don't think they even have a Roku or smart TV app because their newscasts... are still on a two-hour delay.

And they now require you to sign in to watch more than fifteen minutes; I get the feeling that weather stream on YouTube is WIAT's own weather staff creating their own solution to Irving's web direction that apparently takes cues from AOL's Digital City in 1998 (as a walled garden) rather than right now where they're just tripping their own employees up in trying to expand their reach.

Not even fifteen... FIVE. Its five minutes before you have to sign up. Again, WIAT doesn't have this because they still have a two-hour delay.

Seem when subchannels became a thing that the TV stations just put the weather radar on the loop I know that is what WOOD TV did heck they did that in the 90s before they made WXSP a general entertainment channel in late Aug 1999. Charter Spectrum added the weather channel in spring of 2004 good when the storms were coming in even know the audio was from NOAA Radio. The weather radar is no more as WOTV moved it DT4 9 years ago when they got Get TV on DT2.

And now its gone for good in favor of Dabl and later The CW.

This must've happened recently, but WXIN and WTTV now share the same website.  FOX59.com is the main domain, as cbs4indy.com redirects to FOX59.com

The mic flags recently have been FOX59/CBS4 with the state of Indiana between both. They already use the same reporters at both stations and sometimes the same anchors and meteorologists as need be. Even after getting CBS, FOX59 still has better name recognition than WTTV.

Yeah, that's definitely true, and it certainly beats going with a domain like WeAreIndyDOTCom or something that reeks of the Nexstar of old.

Looks like it was sometime between Sept 19 and Sept 26.

Nexstar is apparently providing a New Year's Eve special to its stations that aren't carrying coverage from one of the big networks. From LateNighter:

Quote

Nexstar Stations (check local listings)

8 p.m.-12:30 a.m. ET
Coast-to-Coast Countdown 2026
Hosts: JD Roberto and Marysol Castro (NYC), Brad Perry and Teresa (Phoenix), Michael Yo and Nikki Novak (Las Vegas)
Musical Performances: Styx, Foreigner, UB40, Kevin Cronin, Mac McAnally, Cheap Trick, 38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, and Bri Bagwell
Streaming: Check local stations’ platforms

Nexstar's independent station here in Connecticut, WCTX, is, according to the listings on the WTNH/WCTX website, showing it from 11:00pm to 3:30am, preceded by a "Top Stories of 2025" special at 10:00pm. (Curiously, the listings also show two episodes of Dateline at 8:00pm and 9:00pm; normally, WCTX airs three hours of local news a la early NewsNation.)

You'd assume then it'll air within the Nexstar email wall on their apps too, and KTLA is pushing the CW rent-a-doc airing otherwise out to 1am. WGN joins in at 10 on a two-hour delay, WPIX at 11.

WPLG is carrying this as well.
