C Block 1566 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Still in Studio 57 this week. It looks nice, but it does feel temporary. They stuck to a shot of Scott standing in front of a video wall for most of the show. 1
Weeters 1969 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Going to post this here since I saw it come up in the shoutbox: My sources have informed me that the move is permanent. There was something about CBSN taking over the studio space in the newsroom but that didn't sound like it was confirmed yet. 5

They redid the floor and a new video wall.
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Studio 57 doesn't have the right feel...We'll see what they do, I guess. 4
TriangleTriadMediaNews 267 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Studio 57 doesn't have the right feel...We'll see what they do, I guess. I like it for CBS-TM, but it doesn't feel right for the Evening News, nor do I particularly care for it during special reports. 4
rkolsen 1686 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I like it for CBS-TM, but it doesn't feel right for the Evening News, nor do I particularly care for it during special reports. One issue is that the sets a bit too bright compared to the other newscasts and their old set. I think it may give off a slightly lighter vibe.
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Can't EN relocate to another studio? 1
MorningNews 1500 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Yeah I had hoped that this was only temporary as it just doesn't look right coming from the CTM studio. Not the right look for a flagship evening broadcast. 1
Studio B 20 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 One issue is that the sets a bit too bright compared to the other newscasts and their old set. I think it may give off a slightly lighter vibe. I agree with this. 57 is a great studio and the Evening News does do a nice job utilizing the various video elements there but I still get that temporary solution feel. 2
DonDonP1 118 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Can't EN relocate to another studio? Hello. I, too, wish the CBS Evening News as well as special reports of breaking news would permanently move to a new home. Now that both are premanently originating from Studio 57, there are two possibilities: either CBS This Morning would continue to originate from Studio 57 or it would move to its new home.
LVForward 94 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Given the HUGE success CBS is having with ratings growth in the morning - maybe utilizing the same same studio at night will bring that same good mojo to the evening show. It also helps create some symmetry within the CBS News product. 3

cna247 174 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Article mentioned Norah O'Donnell. I also read elsewhere that Jeff Glor is a possibility, and would bring a younger image (just as David Muir did at ABC) to the program. I personally thought that Scott was always a bad fit for the program. As the article stated, he is too slow placed and always came across to me as boring as hell. I also felt that John Dickerson was not the best choice for Face the Nation either. CBS This Morning is one of few bright spots for the network and I feel they'd be dumb to mess with that team and the momentum they have going. I also like Jane Pauley on Sunday Morning, so that's another bright spot. 4
PhillyWatch 240 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Anybody but Josh Elliot! But this is a bummer (if true). One of the main reasons I watched was for Pelley's pacing. The last thing I'd want to see is another ABC hyperpaced viral video fest. 3
24994J 5630 Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Anybody but Josh Elliot! But you'd know how serious a story is based on how squinted his eyes are! 2
ToriElectra 292 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Some overpriced consultant must be behind this- they can't just get rid of Pelley, he's been leading the revival of CBS News, they're actually good now.
nynewslover 280 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 How about..... Megyn Kelly?? Not likely but not impossible
Studio B 20 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 How about..... Megyn Kelly?? Not likely but not impossible They'd probably be relatively late to the game but I'd think she'd be a better fit on 60 Minutes than on the Evening News.
Eat News 4745 Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 How about..... Megyn Kelly?? Not likely but not impossible How about ditching the entire anchorman concept all together in favor of a "presenter" type of presentation. That will save about 10mil or more a year right off the top....and millions more in the following years. Rotating "News Readers" ...just like Europe. 5
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Tonight, Pelley's in Washington, for some odd reason. Color me impressed, you can NEVER get him out when there's a major event. 1

newsbot 271 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I'd like Anthony Mason in the Evening News chair. Anyway, it doesn't make sense for the EN anchor to do double-duty at 60 - it's as if they never learned from the Dan Rather debacle. 2
