tyrannical bastard 4033 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 What Al Gore is probably thinking.....
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Screw it; I don't care if I get shit on for it. Good riddance.
24994J 5629 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 One of my locals did a story about rats in the city, and then did the Ailes news, but the rat footage was still on the screen. Do with that what you will.
Chicago's Very Own 104 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I hate to say it, but besides his old allies at Fox News and people who trusted him for the views he had, I don't see many who know of him feeling exactly sorry for him. Not just for being the driving force behind Fox News and all the baggage associated with it, but also for the sexual harassment. He sounded like a real piece of crap for that stuff alone. I still want to read "The Loudest Voice in the Room" by Gabriel Sherman, because I feel like it'd offer a lot more insight in how he ran FNC. I also wish I had picked up his other biography that I found in the book section of a dollar store. I think he wrote it himself, or commissioned it as an official biography, but it would have been interesting to compare that one and Gabe Sherman's book.
A3N 1002 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 The guy is dead. No need to praise him or to piss on him.
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 The guy is dead. No need to praise him or to piss on him. Agreed. It's one thing to disagree with someone or not like them but you have to be a vile human being to actually take joy in someone losing their life.
alex979 119 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Shepard Smith offered a different perspective on Ailes, and I found it fascinating to hear how complicated their relationship was. He recounted his experiences with Ailes at the beginning of FNC, during Columbine and Hurricane Katrina, when he came out, and ultimately the ouster. It's a riveting, deeply personal monologue, and one of the most powerful things I've seen from cable news.
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 All I can say is this. Roger (The Mr. Burns of FOX News), may you burn in hell, go f**k yourself and kiss a**!
rkolsen 1686 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 My condolences go to Ailes' family and friends. Was this the first time Shep acknowledged his husband on Fox?
The Frog 435 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 This thread is really insightful to some people's true colors.
Rusty Muck 4405 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Is anyone really surprised as to the polarized reaction? That's really what needs to be asked here. My thoughts go out to his many harassment and assault victims, and for the poisoned political climate his divisive marketing tactics helped foster and exacerbate. As for him... I feel absolutely nothing.
Rusty Muck 4405 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 All I can say is this. Roger (The Mr. Burns of FOX News), may you burn in hell, go f**k yourself and kiss a**! Fun Fact: Mr. Burns, in both appearance and personality, was based off of Barry Diller.
channel2 982 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I do not mourn Mr. Ailes nor do I celebrate his death, but I find its timing eerie...just as Fox News feels like it's imploding.
ToriElectra 292 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I do not mourn Mr. Ailes nor do I celebrate his death, but I find its timing eerie...just as Fox News feels like it's imploding. Now that you mention that- maybe he hit a self-destruct button somewhere on his body?
TheRolyPoly 2591 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 All I can say about this is... DING DONG. THE WITCH IS DEAD. Good riddance.
Eat News 4745 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 The man was a genius and made an enormous impact on the TV news landscape. Like it or not... He made it possible for other (non-liberal) "voices" to be heard. Love him or hate him.. I respect him for the many contributions he made to broadcasting...he made all broadcasters smarter and wiser in so many ways. The guy died doing what he loved... Kicking ass in news... And enjoying some of the "finer" things in life. ...aint nothing wrong with that....none of us are saints. ...and if he got to sleep with that Jenna Lee...or even that Jennie Moos at CNN...more power to him. Sadly I bet Rupert is not far behind... Smithers and Burns.... KBEX will go dark tonight until 6am in memory of Mr Ailes...and also to change a thryistor at the transmitter. Ride on little buckaroo....
Journalist 894 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Screw it; I don't care if I get shit on for it. Good riddance. To quote Ice Bear: "Yes, yes. Rejoice." Eat shit, Roger Ailes! All I can say about this is... DING DONG. THE WITCH IS DEAD. Good riddance. Ladies and gentlemen, TVNT presents to you Rock bottom.
IndyNewsOpens 83 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Ladies and gentlemen, TVNT presents to you Rock bottom. I agree with Journalist here. He may have done some really shitty stuff, but he's still human.

All I can say about this is... DING DONG. THE WITCH IS DEAD. Good riddance. First off, believe me, I'm no fan of Roger Ailes. That being said, seems kind of harsh that you all are throwing stones based on something the man has not even been found guilty of in a court of law. And for goodness sake, the guy is dead. What's his family have to do with this? Why don't you all take a good look in the mirror and look at your own faults.
Georgie56 3326 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Screw it; I don't care if I get shit on for it. Good riddance. To quote Ice Bear: "Yes, yes. Rejoice." Eat shit, Roger Ailes! All of this is why conservatives snark about the "tolerant left" and why they don't take "Love Trumps Hate" and "The Resistance" seriously. What Ailes did to those women was horrible, but he still changed cable news with Fox. RIP. We need to do better than this. P.S, this is one reason how you got Trump, and how you'll get more Trump.
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I'm sorry you feel that way. I have no sympathy for Roger Ailes considering he established an institution that marginalized women and minorities, intimidated people who spoke up about stuff like that, and still walked away with $40 million for it all. Feel bad for his wife? She should have spoken up and said something about his vile behavior as well. Save me the lecture, I'm not going to mourn the loss of such a horribly arrogant man. No one is saying you have to attend his funeral. Just don't be a dick. Taking joy in someone's death makes you a shitty human being.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I'm not a big fan of Ailes or Fox News. However, I will give credit where credit is due. He built Fox News from a punchline compared to '90s CNN to the juggernaut that it is today. Even if he did some vile things, he is still human.
