Devon 37 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 WXIN Fox 59 in Indianapolis is apparently getting a new set with construction starting today. No more details than that though at this time. 1

USNewsie 50 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I believe Johnny Archer is the new NBC 6 weekend evening anchor. He previously worked at NBC 5 in DFW. Johnny will replace Keith Jones who moved to weekdays.

TVLurker 241 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 That was too bad that KXAS lost him, he was really good. They didn't "lose him". NBC just moved him to another one of their O&O stations.
east-tx-tv 121 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 They didn't "lose him". NBC just moved him to another one of their O&O stations. Thanks for the clarification. I really wasn't aware of the exact details other than here-one-day-gone-the-next. Guess I could have looked closer at unclebarky's site, he's usually pretty good at getting departure info. Archer was an asset to KXAS' newscasts, and it's too bad he's not there anymore.
TheRolyPoly 2592 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Have you heard of TicToc? No? Well its not the Tic Tac Toe game, but in fact, TicToc is the new Bloomberg global news network that'll be streamed only on Twitter. It begins next Monday, a week before Christmas. https://twitter.com/TicToc 1
ColtFromGulfcoast 731 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 TicToc What's their slogan? Don't stop, make it pop? TicToc on the clock, but the news don't stop, no! Sorry, had to do it. 5
hmaxhanson 650 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Bloomberg is free on anything that has a functioning web connection at this point (though without the sidebar GFX). They probably figured that into why not to carry it. TWC you can excuse as dumb, but Bloomberg has just as much blame here for their looseness with how you can watch their channel. Now that I didn't know about! I know that Sin-Don't Care's digital subchannel networks also have free internet streams (BTW, I mostly watch TBD, but also Charge for American Gladiators). 1

I'm honestly surprised WRAL didn't promote from within, Ken Smith was my choice to get the spot, as he had worked with Renee Chou in the past when she was his weekend evening co-anchor. 2
PelicanGuy 117 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 At minimum, it seems like Ms. Reed isn't well-liked among newsroom staff. This story could take an interesting turn. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/12/8/was-the-email-to-atlanta-anchor-a-fake That would be messed up if true. 1
TheRolyPoly 2592 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 That would be messed up if true. My point exactly that WGCL should just blow up its evening team and start over. I feel like both Reed and Swann aren't liked well in the newsroom.
tyrannical bastard 4036 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 WJW has added Sinclair-owned diginets Comet and Charge! to their .3 and .4 subchannels. Have any of the other soon-to-be Sinclair stations made this move in advance of their eventual takeover?

Have any of the other soon-to-be Sinclair stations made this move in advance of their eventual takeover? WGN added TBD on 9.4 a couple of weeks ago.
scrabbleship 429 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The purchase agreement says that the sale does not include WPME's existing programming contracts and that Ion will have to change WPME's call sign, so it seems that MyNetworkTV will be moving to a WPXT subchannel. Interestingly, there's also an SSA in which Ironwood will continue to provide Technical services to WPME after the sale. EDIT: According to Wikipedia, WPME is already carrying Ion on 35.2, so that will probably just move to 35.1 after the sale. I wonder what this means for WPXT long-term. With the Top 8 rule poised to go away, you would think that Tegna and Hearst would be chomping at the bit for WPXT at minimum if not Gray using it as a trojan horse to enter the Portland market if no other avenues open up. 2

TriangleTriadMediaNews 267 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Tom Sherwood is a fine reporter, glad he'll still be over on WAMU (NPR). 1
broadcastfan9751 140 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 As per WPXT’s Wikipedia page, Ironwood is in the process of selling WPXT to Sincair, which would pair it up with WGME & WPFO, but there was no citation or other sources. It was originally posted by an IP address editor, so it may be false. 1
TheRolyPoly 2592 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I know this is not news and not a big thing, but here you go... the Gray-ification look to WCAX and its new logo. 3

rkolsen 1686 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Not bad, but why does it look like the "3" is trying to eat the CBS eye? It's hungry. I’m thinking they were going to put the CBS Eye in the negative space (is that the right term) of the bottom half of the 3. But someone realized that it could possibly go against the CBS Eyedentity standards. Just by eyeballing it (pun intended) it looks like the CBS Eye fits perfectly in the bottom half.
