24994J 5619 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 (edited) No sign of CBSN Chicago in sight, but WBBM is using some of the full screen graphics for local stories. Also, while it doesn't match the streaming look, they tested an updated 7-Day over this past weekend. While we're at it, let's throw in the ticker and bug adjustments at WCBS, too. 24994J 5619 Posted July 2, 2019 Author Posted July 2, 2019 (edited) In addition, some promos have transitioned to the similar, flat look. CBS has typically operated on a 3-year cycle ('10, '13, and '16), with new packages debuting sometime during the warmer months. 20190701_224054(1).mp4 Edited July 3, 2019 by 24994J 2
CaptainNews 287 Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 It’s a lot cleaner than previous package. However, I’m seeing a lack of creativity, I wonder what the open will look like to be honest. They shine there when it comes to new graphics. 4
Georgie56 3318 Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Seems like CBS O&O packages have a 3-year lifespan.
MidwestTV 1236 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I'm just happy the 7-day is a full 7 day and not a 5 day with 2 extra days stacked on top one another. That said, the free floating text for the weather headers has got to stop. 1

MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 947 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 At least we have a filled in banner at the top instead of the see thru gobbeldy guck they have now 1
former newsboy 52 Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Most thorough update I've seen... 2
rkolsen 1685 Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I was going to say when will WJZ update the graphics. Took them a few months to go widescreen Chyrons (that are textually still 4:3 safe - they just updated the background). Plus they run a Baron weather system and may take time to roll out compared to the bulk using WSI/TWC.

Darius22 122 Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Idk. I'm seeing a bit of Raycom in there. 4
former newsboy 52 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 This one has the updated 7-Day! I guess we can call it complete. Not sure why Mary Kay Kleist isn't onboard, but Robb Ellis sure is! And not sure if more changes are on the way outside of the weather dept. I would hope so, 'cause the lower-thirds don't match, for one thing.
MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 947 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I'm digging it... So much better than the current package 2
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 No guys, not a new package. This is just the integration of the CBSN New York package into all newscasts. 1

24994J 5619 Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 I'd be surprised if the CBSN look rolled out to the OTA newscasts with no modifcations or differences. Whether it's more thorough opens, a different bug with the station logo, or different lower thirds, what's used for the cable-like CBSN might not work as well for the traditional local format. The best comparison I can think of is how WGN and CLTV have differentiated their looks over the last decade, while sharing fonts, color schemes, and basic design elements. 4
bostonmediaguy 124 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Any word on timeline for the rollout?
tjt24 315 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Bumping this thread to say that KDKA now has these weather graphics on their newscasts. Just seen them during the 4pm news... 2
Kenneth Kissel 283 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Here is KDKA using the new CBS O&O Weather graphics. I think they look a lot like the Weather Graphics Sinclair has. 4

Geoffrey 872 Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Can you believe this is what O&Os look like?! 2
CBS11 Weatherboy 44 Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Adding more things to this. I’m getting ready to work at an CBS O&O KTVT 11 Dallas/ Fort Worth. They are preparing for these new graphics and from what I’m hearing a possible new set. 3
