WBIR has the 'new' graphics as of at least 5pm today

Did the sponsorship really have to be mentioned in the OPEN? I'm almost certain that's a deal sales worked out for extra money. Cheapens the product right off the bat. That kind of stuff should be limited to commercial bumps.

You're not wrong, but WBIR has been doing that for a decade+

It feels nasty to have it part of the open. I think it wouldnt be so bad it if had a small opening that says "the following broadcast is brought to by ________ . Fade to black or a flash. Then the opening graphics run". To be so deeply intergrated into the open always feels nasty to me. But these days. Most things  in local news feels like a downgrade.

The music sounds like what I would hear on CBC News in Canada.

It does sound very similar to the music CBC and its stations use. This is not a bad thing....though it might be confusing in markets up near the border.

Pardon my obsessive attention to detail...

Graphical update, WTLV is now using the NBC 12 logo in it's L3.  It previously only had the First Coast NBC logo. Sister station WJXX still has "First Coast ABC" in the L3 with no reference to ABC 25.

Not sure if many of the locals really refer to either channel by their numbers.

I believe it has to do with the Olympic rings. They probably needed the 12 to make the peacoc rings lockup work. The rings also can't appear anywhere near the ABC logo.

Yes -- if there are duopolies, they can't have the Olympic rings showing on non-NBC channels...

KENS has debuted.

Music sounds slightly better then the bubblegum pop theme many Tegna stations were using.

What's up with station groups and those annoying transitional sound effects.

The murmurs up in Scranton is WNEP will be transitioning within 2-3 weeks, and that internally they're fighting to keep their signature sound.  It'll be intersting to see how it'd flow with how these opens seem to look group-wide so far.

The latest NewsActive3 compilation gives us proof that KIII Corpus Christi (first ABC to do so) and KWES Odessa/Midland (last NBC to do so) have recently switched to the new look. This is the first YT video I'm seeing their new looks, so a compilation from NA3 will do.

EDIT: WJXX technically had it first from ABC, with WTLV launching with the other NBC affiliates from TEGNA out there.

WBIR was doing it right beforehand having the sponsorship start off the open and then a proper voice-over for the newscast itself.   The new opens feel like it's purely a sponsor billboard and not a true title sequence.

This open does not have the same music or signature as the other stations that have debuted.

That was the production track they used for that newscast under the previous look. They played the correct music with this open today

Not quite sure what it is, but the WFAA doesn’t “work” for me. I don’t think it fits the station’s long-standing image.

KTVB Boise is rolling with the new look. Longer opens ala KING during the daytime and shorter opens at night ala KGW. The look works for them.

The extended cuts are on the News Music Archive, and honestly, it's not bad. I think it's a definite upgrade over the a Capella stuff they had for way too long. Wouldn't mind a bit more bass in it though.

The lack of contrast between WTSP's 10 and the background on the new intro needs some work.
