Nexstar has stations that have spent money on custom packages, so… probably it would stay the same.

Or it gets reimagined by Stephen Arnold (like KRON and WPIX). 🤷🏻‍♂️

WNEP switched this morning, and they're open is unique to the group.  Most importantly, THEY KEPT THE MUSIC!

Should be noted, apart from the opening sequence (which still uses a VO), and the L3s incorporating the Pixel Lens animation/look, nothing else changed.  The Time/temp bug, station banner in orange for the morning, and all the transitions are still exactly the same.   No "Stream Now" QR codes either, though considering the age of the average viewer in NEPA, most wouldn't know what to do with that.

Fine they kept their signature music. But you can see these things are churned out and sloppily at that. Its barely timed correctly to the music to hit at beat and then the cheap fade to the studio. The only element seemingly timed correctly is the little flashing box next to the logo. Lame.

The graphics will def be dropped though.

Don’t they have a graphics hub?

Rey Rodriguez designs everything. It will all be unified under a suite of packages designed by him and a SAM package because there is no independence now. Although if Nexstar has their way, all stations will unaffiliate from Network and solely run NewsNation I suppose be know similarly to CBS News stations (e.g., NewsNation Denver, NewsNation Sacramento, NewsNation Jacksonville, etc.).

TEGNA Design Tank will be shut down to streamline things. Why invest in anything except the bare minimum while your business model dies and you can eek out more profits? Who cares about public interest mandates anyway? This is Vulture Capitalism.

Can you imagine if (The company unit formerly known as Tegna operated by Nexstar) totally dumps the WNEP Music?

Is that the equivalent of WPVI dropping MCTYW or worse? I remember the backlash when PVI debuted an updated version of MCTYW in the late 90s and all hell broke loose.

It may be a coincidence or not that the last three yet to switch to Pixel Lens are all CBS affiliates (WWL + sister WUPL, WBNS, and KYTX).

WWL-TV is on Pixel Lens as of Noon today, which leaves just WBNS & KYTX as the only two who have not yet switched.

Update: KYTX is also on Pixel Lens as of Noon today.

WWL decided to run a very long close tonight at the end of its 5pm newscast with the new music and it was around 2 and a half minutes or so.

In addition to that, KYTX CBS 19 also debuted the new graphics/music earlier today and this is the video of tonight’s 6:30pm newscast.

Their bug is on Pixel Lens, but nothing else at the moment.

Maybe I'm not seeing this, but how are these package L3s any different from the Troika package?

Outside of a font color change from gray to a bluish-black color, no. Kinda like the color change of the bug that matches nothing, which, outside of them not really changing things enough, is my only real complaint about the new look.

Most of the stations dropped the weather icon from the time/temp part of the bug and the constant switch betweent the news/channel logo and "Stream Now" QR code

The differences are subtle - mainly in how the L3s animate on-screen (swipe across rather than expand/contract from middle), the layout ditches the white line / color line when the L3s had a name and identifier for a simple two-line in the white box (at least how WWL is doing it).

I think it looks more cohesive than the floating arrows (whatever that was called) that had completely different L3s at times but Pixel Lens is definitely a somewhat “basic” look.

Was this package built in-house?

Not surprisingly, WBNS has done a great job with choosing footage for the intros.
