Don't be surprised if out of retaliation for this, CBS doesn't renew the contracts for the 2 game shows in the O&O markets that air it in Boston, Dallas, & Minneapolis/St. Paul. 3
nathannah 2493 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Which would be suicidal and I'm sure the local folks will try to talk New York out of it, but we're talking about a company that utterly refuses to kill a cable channel even as nobody is watching them and subscribers plead with providers to force them to die to get even $4 of relief on their bills. Les Moonves is a jerk and his personal life sucked, but he literally only seemed to be the only adult in the room that could get through to the Redstones and the Viacom board and deal with every CBS division with an iron fist. I would expect next go-around if this sticks, Sony seals a deal with ABC-Disney for distribution and streaming and that if not Netflix, Hulu already has a head start to start streaming the shows just based on Sony/ABC's overall relationships regarding the show alone. Every single negative thing Les feared about a re-merger has come true. 5

Can’t see Netflix being interested, but you never know. 1 1

I’d fully expect Tegna to grab them for KARE and WFAA if that’s the case; Boston could literally be anyone (though I think it’ll end up being WHDH or WFXT) 1

Name a Paramount Global channel whose name doesn't start with Nick or CBS Sports; MTV, CMT and VH1 could easily merge their schedules into one at this point and their digital cable era spin-offs are just as useless. 1 1

Yeah….no. The shows are expensive. That is reason to give group management pause and warrants careful evaluation as contracts renew. But the bottom is what matters and if the business benefits from having the shows on those stations, they will stay. Big boys and girls understand business is business. Sometimes you get into a tiff in one area, but no one with an ounce of common sense would base a business decision involving millions of dollars just on spite. 1 4 1
nathannah 2493 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) Speaking of CBS and syndication, the 50/50 Weigel/CBS network StartTV has quietly begun to air that day's Drew, ET, and Inside Edition in late night, just as ABC/DIsney and NBC air their big syndicated shows in late night on their own stations (with Bravo also airing Kelly Clarkson the same way). Probably a big way to address how ET is now considered very pre-emptable by many stations without much consequence if they don't have the late night re-air. Edited April 12 by nathannah 1

Actually, Drew joined the lineup last year, moving over from Dabl when that network switched from lifestyle shows to Black sitcoms. Ironically, Dabl itself added Hot Bench to its overnight lineup last fall, putting it in the 2:00 a.m. hour that should technically belong to an overnight run of Are We There Yet?, which was added at the same time. (AWTY does air at that hour on weekends, however.) 1
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 CBS has won an appeal. https://deadline.com/2025/04/jeopardy-wheel-of-fortune-rights-legal-battle-1236370301/ 1
Megatron81 278 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 ARC-WMI has moved Rock Review to Sun afternoons 2:30PM to 3PM from 7:30PM to 8PM. Song no longer in the lineup Big Bang has returned to the Sun 7PM to 8PM. 1
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Extra Update: Billy Bush will not return as host; he leaves after five seasons. https://deadline.com/2025/05/billy-bush-leaving-extra-host-1236385791/ 1
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Byron continues his renewal blitz: game show Funny You Should Ask will get a 9th and 10th season. https://deadline.com/2025/05/funny-you-should-ask-renewed-season-9-10-1236387816/ 1
Megatron81 278 Posted May 12 Posted May 12 I think both sides agree to part ways and Billy wanted to do more podcasting with his Hot Mics Billy's old place Access Hollywood a few weeks ago was talking about some celeb that was on Hot Mics with Billy Bush. I like how no one ever mentions their rivals when Mario Lopez got his star on Walk Of Fame at the end of Extra last year they just said former Extra host and did a mini interview saying how he liked working for Extra that was about it. 1
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Steve Wilkos Show renewed for 19th season. https://deadline.com/2025/05/the-steve-wilkos-show-renewed-season-19-syndication-1236402188/ 2
Megatron81 278 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Steve Wilkos will be the last that last for 20+ years those days are over with talkers lasting this long in my opinion. Will not be surprised if Karamo gets renewed as well. 1
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Karamo renewed for season 4. https://deadline.com/2025/05/karamo-renewed-season-4-talk-show-1236402273/ 1 1
SDHIll1980 107 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Not that I would watch either show, but neither one of these shows airs here in Los Angeles (it hasn't in the last couple of years), as KTLA's continual news expansion and the late-night lineup of sitcoms, not to mention KDOC going all-religious, displaced Wilkos and Karmano locally. NBCU is better off shopping to the shows to other stations, namely either KCOP or KCAL+. 1 1

I thought NBCU Syndication was airing re-runs of it for the past several years....
nathannah 2493 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 They don't need to shop the shows; they same-day repeat on Nosey, which is on a KVEA sub and so many FAST providers. KCOP would've had them months ago if they wanted them, and I really don't expect KCAL+ to last much longer if new ownership comes in.
